While there’s no truth to the rumor that “CBS” ever stood for The Carol Burnett Show, for eleven seasons and 278 episodes, this star-studded extravaganza of sketch comedy, song and dance became entertainment central for the network and TV viewers. Burnett operated in a relaxed theater setting that allowed her to take questions, cut loose with her famous Tarzan yell and join fellow performers Harvey Korman, Tim Conway, Vicki Lawrence and Lyle Waggoner to have a laugh or sing a song. The show received 25 Emmy Awards and eight Golden Globes, making it one of the most honored shows in television history.

Harvey was my cousin. As a child I got to go to the studio to watch them film the episodes. Even funnier seeing them live because the laughter wasn’t staged it was real. Every time they busted up it put us in stitches we’d laugh so hard!

Harvey Korman had a hidden talent for playing the Mother from Canoga Falls. I am so glad they did that. And Tim + Harvey was the best duo Television ever experienced.

I didn't know she did that regularly...I remember her playing New Jersey, maid to Broad--Carol's parody of MAUDE.
@@tomservo56954 I saw her in quite a few episodes. One they did a take off of the King Family, a huge family act and she was in the group. They all had blonde hair as she did. Harvey was in drag

I found this interesting... She was more than 20 years older than her "TV husband" Sherman Hemsley...
She was on the Stage for 30 years before coming to Hollywood. Such an interesting and talented woman... She always made me laugh.. ALWAYS...xoxo

The cast here seems more free wheeling, and I seem to sense a LOT of adlibbing. Also, I have never seen Carol lose control as much as she did here. I really believe Carol and Vicki were seeing Harvey in drag for the first time, seeing how much they were laughing and totally out of control, esp Carol.
@@rtususian I think that’s right! It did seem a little loose and I thought they were almost on the verge of doing improv. On the fly! But I think they had rehearsed it a little bit but without Harvey in his outfit and make up!

Their reaction is so natural that I suspect they hadn't seen him in costume before.
I loved the very end when Lyle rushed in with the flowers, and Harvey lost it. This was a great sketch!

Not as nearly as funny as Mother Marcus but I must say, Harvey moves beautifully as the tall dancer, I like the shoulder action. He definitely steals the scene from the other two, no question about that.

I never seen this sketch and I used to watch her show all the time. When I found this and watched I could not have been happier it was hilarious and Harvey was great. He was and always will be one of my favorite comedians. A real gem.

Harvey looked like a woman in the public eye and I can't nail it down. Driving me nuts! An actress, I think. Anyway, he was so good at every character role he played. What a cast this show had. This show had so much warmth, was so inclusive. No pompous piety, judgment, arrogant political insertions dictating how to think. Carol Burnett is pure class. I guess that's why after over 50 years her show shines as brightly as ever. I miss my mom and dad. Carol brings me home again. ❤❤❤❤❤

When I first started watching these I thought Harvey was just a straight man for Conway but he was hilarious in his own right!!!!
Harvey was a force multiplier. He was very funny and talented on his own, but he excelled as the supporting actor-the one whose presence raises the caliber of everyone around him or her.
Korman was just the right touch of crazy! I love how the girls cracked up at the opening. Hilarious!
Harvey Kaumann looked fabulous in drag he really had a nice shape and legs . Even when he was the Medium in As The Stomach Turns . Overall Harvey K was one of the top greatest ever
Harvey was uber talented. He is brilliant in Mel Brook's "High Anxiety". I've watched it dozens of times and I still lose it when he does the paper clip/vampire teeth bit! Gold, Harvey, gold!

This is a terrific sketch from start to finish. Lyle's vocalized fanfare intro was truly unexpected, & Harvey was hysterical in drag. I love the little touches that showed how serious the character of Roger was taking the whole thing, like not wanting to smear his lipstick or absent mindedly adjusting his hair. Isabel Sanford turning up was a nice bonus, too. But the capper is the lip synching routine! Harvey shows real commitment to the bit, & even when he flubs a step, it's perfectly in character. And I just noticed he did the whole thing in high heels - a real trouper!
Harvey Korman was my biggest crush as a child and it still hasn't changed. So funny and brilliant!

This could never be shown on television today. Its a shame. I am 59 years old. I grew up with Carol, Lucy, Mary Tyler Moore. Dean Martin. Carol and Harvey - an absolute LEGEND - went full gay before gay was in fashion. I love Harvey with all of my heart. The man is a genius.

We used to watch Carol Burnett religiously when we were teenagers. But I don’t recall this sketch at all. So now, I almost spit my teeth laughing so hard! My God, Harvey was hysterical and talented. He hit a new orbit with “I could say ‘bella, bella, even say wunderbar!’“

Harvey Korman , A true champion , trooper , and professional , his lot was to be cast beside some of the best in the business of comedy , he matched their whit and excelled at playing right along with other professionals who made it their most favorite past time to try and crack up their fellow thespians . We may never get anything like this again , lets enjoy the re-runs as long as the film will last , after that , we will cry !

Watching Harvey in drag here, I didn't feel like I was watching a straight man being in drag from a straight man's point of view, I felt like I was in the West Village watching a performance at a cabaret.

Vicki has a funny story about Harvey's drag. She asked him one time (regarding the bimbo character she would play from time to time): How come when I play her, I'm stupid for the whole week? Harvey replied: Any character you play well, Vicki, is truly a part of you. To which, she asked him, well, how come you're so good in drag? LOL!
