- It is our first time visiting mainland Mindanao in the Philippines and after starting it off in Davao City we are heading to Mati in Davao Oriental. How to get to Mati - We commuted by bus which took 6 hours! We stayed at sheepys surf resort in Mati which was definitely one of the best places to stay near Dahican beach. After renting a motorbike we visited the sleeping dinasour , Dahican beach and La-ne’s Kalapyahan resort. Dahican beach has some of the bluest water we have ever seen in the Philippines and Mati definitely gave us Siargao vibes with its surfing scene & endless coconut trees. Is Mati the new Siargao?

Been there (Dahican) about 2 decades ago when there were no resorts yet (none that we knew of). I've been to most of the 'touristy' beaches in all of the country but that beach is very easily one of the best.
Visit south cotabato Kuya lake sebu and lake holon..and visit also socksargen region..❤❤

you shoud've visited San Agustin Parola in Governor Generoso Davao Oriental and the Lanca area of Mati City. The beaches there are gorgeous as well, huge waves good for surfing. 🫰 Come back and explore more of Davao Region soon.. ❤❤❤

What I would really like to see again is the unbelievable blue hole in the middle of ,I believe, a half jungle half farm where Kulas and Brett Maverick went and had a most envying swim.

if u go down east is baganga down west is gov gen. both have something to offer
Tbh, it’s already been a known place just for surfers for season even since then but because it’s far and there’s nothing more you can do on that area unlike siargao, that’s why it’s not that popular hotspot like what you’re saying about potential and stuff. There’s more chill laidback crystal blue island water which offers more , but not Mati. I’d say the perfect fit is Malapascua or Bantayan Island. I’ve been in Mati since lil and have some friends who also lives nearby - i think been there more than 5 times since I was 10 and I’m now 40 but it won’t offer much. ✌🏼
Mostly known by people from davao & Mindanao regions close by! By siargao we just mean the vibe and potential with that vibe rather than activities 😊
