- It is our first time visiting mainland Mindanao in the Philippines and we're starting it off in Davao City 🇵🇭 We arrived in the Durian Capital of the Philippines right when a huge 7.6 earthquake hit Mindanao. In this video we will show you our first impressions of Davao City is it safe? We'll show you some things to do in Davao, as well as our first durian reaction as we try the stinkiest fruit in the world Durian, including durian coffee, durian mochi and durian ice cream 😋 We also visited peoples park and the night market trying lots of different street food in Davao City.

Mindanao is generally safe today compared 20 - 30 years ago. Economic activities are back to normal and urban developments are sprawling in Mindanao cities such as Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Iligan, Zamboanga and General Santos. Hope more tourists will consider Mindanao as part of their bucket list not just focusing Luzon and Visayas, the island has more to offer from ultimate beautiful islands to highlands.

Highly Urbanized Cities (classified as HUCs) in Mindanao are Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Iligan, Butuan, General Santos and Zamboanga.
Metro Cagayan de Oro (4th economical center in the Philippines) will be a metro by 2025 according to NEDA. Zamboanga city will be then classified as metro too, but the date is yet to be determined. After 5-10 years, Metro Davao (south mindanao), Metro CDO (north and east mindanao) and Metro Zamboanga (west mindanao and sulu archipelago) will become an economic factor for the Philippines.
Davao City is the future of the Philippines and most livable and greenest city. The first to implement underground cabling and high priority bus systems initiated by the LGU and not by any private development or townships. Clear testament to the will of their local government . Davao is a region actually a metro in itself including nearby cities like that of Samal.

I’m from Davao and would say it’s a much boring city compared to other major cities in the Philippines. Good thing Samal Island is so close so you have an option cuz not much to do in the city.

I was born in Davao my whole life and 2 of the foods that I didn't and never eaten is Durian and Balut due to it's abnormal/unusual characteristics but thanks for loving our city, it's one of the safest place in the Philippines Heck the world contrary to what the hearsay it's a safe city to good people and super strict to bad people@@ZoeCzar
Just a small clarification. By land area, Davao city is the largest city in the Philippines but Quezon City is the largest city by population. It is also famous for its 911 emergency service amongst others.

I visited Davao City last January 2024 and I was so impressed with the City and the People that I bought a 2 BR bedroom condo.
In the process during my stay, I applied for my permanent residency visa and got approved.
I am so happy that everything fell into place. I love the people, the culture, the city of Davao.
I am a foreigner and I live in Toril, Davao with my girlfriend and her daughter. It is vey safe here. We experienced the same earthquake, but no damages anywhere. People are friendly and forthcoming and the streets are clean. Furthermore you are close to nice beaches and Siargao.

When you eat durian use the shell to drink and wash your hands from it to remove the smell and the next time around you try you love it and crave for it, surely. It is kind a secret trick, I've try it and it works. Keep safe and may God bless you.

Street sold ice creams are not literally "dirty". Its just a term meaning home made. Unlike those of Magnolia, Selecta were made in big factories.
The last time I was there is during my sister's wedding at pearl farm beach resort. 4 days after, I flew to Singapore, boarded on a cruise ship bound to Australia for my very first contract as a seafarer.and that was 17 years ago.

Pearl farm is in IGACOS or Island Garden City of Samal in Davao Del Norte, Davao Region while Davao City is in Davao Del Sur, Davao Region...Davao City is the Capital city of Davao Region the Largest City in PH by land area a whopping 244,000 hectares the Downtown area is just too small compare to the whole land area of the City...

I visited Davao City in October 2023. Went to People's Park , The Bone Museum, Jack's Ridge , and Alligator Park. Had a wonderful time !

3:21 Big backpacks and big bottles are not allowed in People’s Park and in some public places. It’s for your safety. Other cities and regions around Davao City are known for insurgencies/home of terrorist groups, that’s why Davao City has strict policies in some public places. Checkpoints are also very evident when you come in and out of the city.
PS. Bluegre Cafe is one of my faves cafe in Davao along with GreenCoffee. I also like Keepsakes Cafe, the Maa branch is my most fave, you may want to visit someday. That place is very homey

If you are a first timer to taste durian put it first in the refrigerator for an hour or more then eat it to minimize the smell

the streets of MINDANAO are safer than NCR and CEBU ... street crimes is a rare thing to happen .. you can sleep in a park and still be safe when ypu wake up ..

Prices are very fair 😊🙏🏼 in terms of days depends what your up to but I’d say 20 days just in the city is too many, but there’s other regions in Davao that are worth visiting such as Davao Oriental & Samal island (Samal is more pricey) 🙏🏼

The extensive slums of Davao are worse than anywhere I have ever seen. Taxi drivers do not have radios, maps or adequate english. I did feel safe. Security is impressive.
