the two Ronnies are always phenomenal - but the Queen at the end of the skit was TOO fabulous!!!!
I didn´t think of the Two Ronnies as such brilliant musical artists and singers!

I love both the Two Ronnies and Not The Nine O'Clock News, which to this day, is the only decent "alternative comedy" program. I think the Two Ninnies sketch is hilarious personally. I can appreciate both programs. I mean hell, I like NTNON and yet my two favorite comedians are Ronnie Barker and Benny Hill (the two kings of innuendo and wordplay).

What is the melody of the first song called in English. In Swedish it's called "Finska rytteriets marsch" it is a Swedish and Finnish military march.

Confused at why 'On The Road To Mandalay' is in a G&S sketch?
Because it not a G & S sketch, it is a sketch about the yeoman of the guard who have an existence outside G & S. Their history goes back centuries.
There is none of Sullivan's music used in the sketch.

I never found Not the Nine O'Clock News funny at all. I certainly never look for any uploads from them as I do The Two Ronnies.
You can't really measure the two programmes, they were entirely different comedy...
Pablum mate. The Two Ninnies isn't *funnier* per se than the Two Ronnies; it's an apposite and needed piss take of the Ronnies' hypocrisy.
I thought this was like Gilbert and Sullivan’s Operetta...

Interesting that The Two Ronnies are still popular as ever whereas Not The Nine O'Clock News is barely remembered by most. Not that surprising either as most of it was rubbish second rate Python lite.

Cobblers mate. The Two Ninnies perfectly sent up The Two Ronnies and their pretence to being a family show while stuffing it (oo er) full of innuendo.
Well, not the nine o clock news actually ended. They didn't drag it on like the two ronnies
this so reminds me of the not the nine o clock news piss take called the two ninnies. properly takes the piss out of the two ronnies and shows how dated there comedy actually was
The Two Ronnies was only still going because Ronnie Barker had massive clout at the BBC and wanted to keep it going. Not the Nine O'Clock News was never cancelled - the producers and cast decided to end it whilst it was at the top, and because Rowan Atkinson wanted to make Blackadder, which was a better show than anything the Ronnies ever made.
