hello Its me again, the fan was not working because this model doesnt lunch the fan automatically , so I was waiting for 3 min to let the cpu hot then the fan started turning , Probably you didnt need to fix it with the 3.30V cable, good to know , thank you brother

    Hi Dear,
i like your videos , you re the best !
in this video you lose a lot of time because you test with the wrong power button , for the Dell E7240 pwr btn is in the right not left ( in the left is sound button)
    thanks

I have a Dell Latitude E7240 which powers on but no display and no hdmi output, when I plug the charger in the system boots up without display:
    - Power button led comes on
    - Hard drive led flashes once very quickly
    - Battery led comes on for one second
    - After 4 seconds the power button led goes off
    - After another 4 seconds the power button led comes back on and stays on, the hard drive led flashes once very quickly
The green leds on the actual msata SSD light up
If I leave the system in this state then the cpu and heatsinks get hot and eventually the fans will spin (but still no display)
Pressing the power button once will turn off the system (cpu will cool down, msata leds will turn off)
    I’ve tried the following:
    - Performed hard reset / static discharge, disconnected and checked cmos battery (3v on multimeter)
    - Replaced RAM, msata, screen with known working
    - Tried booting while holding down ESC, D, FN keys
    - Tried HDMI output (no output)
I’d really appreciate any other suggestions / tips, could it be a corrupt bios? Thanks in advance

Could you have fixed it when you cleaned the spots which were water damaged, and pulled the ram stick and reinstalled it to test it? Water damage sometimes causes corrosion at the contact points.

I don't understand the fix with the fan... when LT was powered up fan started to spin when LT turned off the fan stopped, why needed that jumper wire?

    • @shamimhussain2532
      @shamimhussain2532 Před 4 lety

Because when it was running first was running full speed all the time, he didn't want full speed all the time as it would be loud and inconvenient (I guess), so jumped it onto another chip with a voltage of 3.3 so it would run around 65-70% load and because it's piggybacking from that chip it means it will turn off once the computer loses power.

I have started a DELL laptop job. It will not start. There is 19v in the first part of the power connector components mosfets etc. After that 3.3 and 5v etc is fine. But there is no more 19v. It i all 13v. I see you bumped into that on this tshoot so was disappointed when it stated to work as I wanted to see if the 13v was supposed to be there or possibly it sits at that until it starts up.

When this model was new, I had it as my work laptop. It was good, but I still prefer Lenovo. Unfortunately you have to use that brand, what company have chosen. It was my first Dell as before that our company used Lenovo ThinkPads. Dell Latitude & Lenovo ThinkPad series have 3 year warranty, but obviously this model is already older now.

This is Ultrabook, isn't all slim laptops so complicated to pack all necessary into that small package? OK, I started to think, that at moment I use ThinkPad X1 & it is much-much simpler inside, but Lenovo is 2 inches bigger also, which adds more space for components.

What you mean with "old" as this model introduced late 2013 and it was basically 2014 model, so 5 years old(2019)? If you are teenager, then I understand, 5 years is long period for them.

Hi, u really a computer expert, I don’t know if u can help me, I’ve same Dell e7240 i7 laptop, bought off with screen damaged, fixed it, installed new windows 10 on mSATA and then used for two days, recently I buy chargers joblot so testing all chargers, there’s one charger non-branded look pin same like dell, I tested this charger yesterday, nothing happened, I put back laptop, I tried switching on laptop today and it’s dead, while plugin in no life, but when taken out battery, inserted back then it’s blinks white power light and when I plugged to charger it shows both orange and white light blinking but for 10 minutes but no display no sound nothing, and again totally dead, do u think the other non-branded charger pin damaged the motherboard ,
I would really appreciate it if u give me some idea as I can’t find any solution from google
    Thanks
