    Great Job Coach, Very well explained. We are Not liking how we ended the summer as a 1 high team looking for quick adjustment to help us out and I think this may be it.

    2:59 Front Shoulder Intentions of QB! Very good key. Also I'd have BC or FC be on high alert for the speed out of #2 (if they're on the boundary side & #2 receiver is in slot formation off the ball. Reasoning only Elite QBs can throw the out to the Field Side with velocity and accuracy*.

    Depending on the strength of your field corner, you'd want your FS to look for work in the deep zone and allow the field CB to take the 1 in single coverage. This would allow your Field Corner to play between the SS and the FC responsibilities and not require your SS to get into the hip and maybe even push his responsibility inside for the FS. Getting into the guys hip for the SS could easily be a penalty or as you put it, "88 and out the gate," especially since your SS is probably less reliable in coverage in comparison to your FC.

    To the field side, it dosnt make sense to have to guys play low (sam/CB) the way I play a read 2 is I only play it to the boundary side. Why because I can play a quarters concept to the field, because I already have a low players there and two vertical players over the top. to the backside I play read 2. I have the boundary sideline to my help. I keep my WLB in the box so that he does not become a conflict player and I keep a true 6 man box and play 2 for 2 into the boundary were there is a lot less real estates.

      We do an x-out theory, where we man the #1 receiver, and the free safety and strong safety play palms on the remaining two receivers.

      We call that "Jordan" because our nickel and free safety play palms off of 2 and 3 (Michael Jordan's jersey)

    Coach, your videos are very insightful and extremely appreciated. Would you mind explaining if you would that differences between Palms Cover 2 vs. Palms Cover 4? If I come off like an idiot I apologize. I am sincerely and honestly asking because I have seen it called Cover 4 Palms. But I do not know if that is just the pre-snap look a DC is wanting to give the opposing QB to gain some sort of an advantage or what have you. Please give as much detail and or make a video explaining if you feel it is warranted and worth your time to do so. Thank you in advance regardless of what you decide.

      Coach I don't know the answer to this. I'm hoping someone else reading through these comments does.

    • @InformalGreeting
      @InformalGreeting Před 5 lety

      Palms is always a quarters concept. The 2 is in place because the read is the number 2 receiver. In traditional quarters you read number 1. Someone may take that two and call it a cover two scheme, but that’s just confusion on their part.

    • @lnueva321
      @lnueva321 Před 5 lety

      The way we play is the following:
      Short routes play as Cover 2 or Trap coverage as some call it.
      Deep routes plays as a Quarter variation (palms, 2-read, etc).

    Hey coach how would handle passing concept such as the Go Slide Switch Routes out of the Run&Shoot offense?

    • @tylormuse5035
      @tylormuse5035 Před 6 lety +3

      You would do what is called a zone turn. So if 2 runs a corner and 1 runs a post.. you would pick up the post by turning the hips inside and following the post. corner will keep pushing back and open his hips outside and pick up the corner. Rule of thumb. 2 comes to you : Its You.

    • @IRON5
      @IRON5 Před 6 lety +1

      Tylor Muse So basically you're playing Banjo on #1&2. What about #3 running to the flats?

    • @tylormuse5035
      @tylormuse5035 Před 6 lety +2

      your outside backer who plays hook curl will rally to the flats . Thats the throw you want the Qb to make. Low yardage reception that will be tough to get a first down on if played correctly.

    • @tylormuse5035
      @tylormuse5035 Před 6 lety +1

      and if 3 run vertical your backside safety will pick that up. I teach my Safety's to look to 3 vertical before you help backside 1. As a change up you can run X out coverage too which is basically man coverage on 1 on the trips side and palms with the 2 and 3 wr. That way backside safety can help backside 1 over the top. Great play against tunnel screen or key screen

    The defense is on the wrong side of the play...flip it..that way strong right is actually strong right instead of mirrored..Made the same mistake as young coach.

  • @mississippiunderdogsgridir5558

    Hey coach I was having this debate with another coach and he said 2 read is not the same defense as palms 🤔
