  • In this video I show you how to replace an axle for beginners. This was my first time doing it and even for beginners, it was a simple task to replace an axle on my ford bronco.

      You only need to undo the top ball joint. I also would not use an impact to remove the AXLE nut as they galled easily.

    Love your Bronco my man, wanted to drop in and show some love from the great republic of Texas. Your video helped tremendously! My pry bars wouldn’t cut it, so I used a medium punch and a 5 lb sledge to get the aggression of the broken axle, and the axle itself out 😊 made sure the punch was as straight as possible so not to stress the diff and she popped right out

    You don’t need to remove the lower ball joint. Remove the sway bar link and upper ball joint turn the wheel all the way to the side and tap out the axle.

    Awesome video. have a Bronco on order so watching a ton of videos while it gets here. Would it be safe to say a possible reason for the failure is due to the 5in lift with stock axles? saw the video where it happened, great content!

    • @NorthShoreOverland
      @NorthShoreOverland  Před rokem +1

      Thanks! I'm sure the 37 inch tires didn't help. But it was because I had my wheel fully to one side and the front locker on in deep snow. I thought my wheels were straight. It put too much pressure on the one side.

    Can you describe what it sounded like before it went out completely? I have a sound when I'm turning right at low speed, but only if it's a pretty far turn to the right. Almost like a metal grinding or rubbing?

    • @NorthShoreOverland

      I'm in Canada, for reference. It's about 500 Canadian, 400 USD. Not cheap.... But cheaper than RCV shafts.... If I break another one I'll consider upgrading.

      @@NorthShoreOverland with he torque you get from he tires breaking an axel is better than a transmission or gears. I'd stick with oem because reinforcing the axles puts the strain on the next weakest part. Keep it up man

      @Defyfate11 Před rokem

      @businessraptor127 Nah, if it broke this early on, buy stronger. If the next weakest link breaks buy stronger. Overall time you will have a better built Bronco. My CV axle starting clicking and clucking with less than 5k miles on it. I have a 2" lift over Sasquatch and was pulling an Expo 2.0 off grid trailer about 600 miles. I have already strengthen my steering rack and tierods and so RCV's was the next solution. Cry once and be done with it.

    Dumbass question: what’s the minimum roof height I can get away with to jack up a Bronco on 33s to remove the wheel like you did, assuming no roof rack?

    • @NorthShoreOverland
      @NorthShoreOverland  Před rokem

      Hmmm, not sure. Shouldn't be too bad with 33's. For reference, I have a 5 inch lift and 37's, so I had to go quite high. If it's your garage you are wondering, just try it. Ceiling can't be that low in a garage?
