Watching these as an actual adult now makes me wish I was an adult when this sitcom was out. A lot of stuff flew over my head bc I was to young to understand back then.
One of the few classic scenes in the later seasons was when Al had to get into bed with Marcy and pretend to be Jefferson.

LOL, I remember when I was like 7, they sent me down to the Sub Shop to pickup the Pizza, that's exactly how I carried it back, like my school books. Needless to say, the family wasn't happy when I walked in the door. 50 years later, my surviving family still makes fun of me for it.

I just watched this episode. I’m going through the entire series on Hulu and this one just floored me. Best episode of the franchise so far. I just knew it would be the highest rated ep of the season out of the 10 I already watched and yep it is. Linda Day was by far the best director of this show. Her eps are head and shoulders above the rest!
Early Married with Children was fun to watch and Kelly wasn’t dumb yet.
Kelly was still dumb just less sorta like Fry from Futurama or Joey from friends.
There's a sure-fire way for Marcy to stop dreaming about Al. Have him take off his shoes.

This must have been an interesting shoot given the fact Ed O’Neill and Amanda Bearse hated each others guts lol
They loathed each other...but I'm sure those fat paychecks (and continuing residuals) cushioned the blow.
Apparently they did get along well during the first seasons, the rift started later.
As I understand it, at some point Amanda Bearse began a little over-identifying with her character Marcy. And then a man has to do what a man has to do. I do not blame Ed O'Neill. ;-)

Its interesting to compare the way Marcy was portrayed in the earlier episodes compared to the 'chicken' Marcy of the subsequent seasons. Also Al was far less confrontational with Marcy.
