- For the first time since 2017, I had the opportunity to take a long filming trip to the Northeastern United States. I was able to film several different railroads operating in the states of Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Virginia, Maryland, Vermont, Massachusetts, and West Virginia. In this video, I'll show you a sampling of these different trains including three different steam railroads, high speed Amtrak passenger trains, five different commuter railroads, freight, and more! In the coming weeks, I will be posting even more videos showcasing some of the individual trains I was able to film. Stay tuned!

Amtrak is, unfortunately, a disaster that has lost massive amounts of money every year.

I’m glad you made it to Manassas! I used to tail fan there a lot when I lived up there and it was really cool that you caught the daily rock train as well! Next time you’re in Virginia, try to get to Ashland and Richmond.

Great video. I'm glad you captured the Auto Train. I have taken several trips on that train. I often railfan VRE and Amtrak at the Manassas Amtrak station. Next time you are in the DC area, go to Alexandria, VA; lots of action. That's where the 2 VRE northbound lines merge as well as the Amtrak lines (NS and CSX lines).

I'd like to! Unfortunately, I haven't been able to catch too many of the freight ones yet.
@CoasterFan2105 Yes, they can be difficult to spot. I'm planning on trying to catch some in Austell, GA soon. NS has a lot of trains there running between ATL, Chattanooga, and Birmingham. NS8099 was spotted there last month.

108 is the Amtrak heritage unit on the 56 or 55 Vermonter. And at 8:09 in the video that was 56 Vermonter with 96 leading, I got a shave and a haircut from the 56 Vermonter in Randolph Vt.

1:47 You finally made it to the Amtrak Mill River/Springfield (MA) Line in Windsor Locks CT and caught CT Southern's (CSOR) CSO-4 on their afternoon southbound run to their yard in Hartford CT. My go to spot is a few miles up the road in Windsor CT at Hayden Station Rd. Was wondering when you'd show up in my area, too bad our paths didn't cross would have liked to have said hi between trains.

Next stop is the East. Well, you shot many trains, including the SEPTA Regional Rail. Did you find any New Jersey Transit, Metro-North Railroad, and Long Island Railroad trains? I was looking forward to do a train talk episode of these commuter trains.
I caught one NJT train in this video but unfortunately, no LIRR or Metro North. I tried to focus on areas I hadn't previously covered. But, both of those are at the top of the list for next visit.
Hey Mike, are you going to the LA Train fest? It’s at Union Station.
As things stand right now, probably not. I have a bunch of special videos I have to finish for the channel's 15th anniversary next month. If things change and I get some more things completed, it's a possibility.

This trip, I tried to focus on things I hadn't seen yet out east. Those are on the list for the next trip.
