- Airport food is notoriously unhealthy. It's surprisingly simple to have delicious healthy meals even on a long flight
Airports: always hard to find healthy food. But it’s real simple to eat great healthy food even flying half way around the world
I make sure I eat well BEFORE I leave. A big bowl of oatmeal in the morning fills me up for hours so that’s what I’m doing. fruit and nuts are great snacks and for a short flight they might cover it
I lean on legumes and whole grains: filling but compact. Salads take up too much space, Soup is too messy. Sandwiches are ok but get old
eating airport food once in a while is not a big deal, but it's good to have options
Maybe you like to eat fresh healthy food while you’re traveling, or maybe you have restrictions.

With batch cooking what's the best way to store them? I would love to do that for my work week lunch., and I need more of your delicious food recipes:)
I split from the pan directly into tupperwares and refrigerate (if over a couple days) or freeze (if longer). then just grab and go. easy
@@NutritionMadeSimple Are there a special kind of Tupperware or any kind will do?
@@Yahuah-Ahavah-Shalom at home I prefer glass (avoids plastic contaminants). for trips glass gets heavy
@@NutritionMadeSimple Thanks so much. You really don't know how much I appreciate you. You have helped me out alot with your wonderful food and all the tips on a healthy diet.
@@Yahuah-Ahavah-Shalom my pleasure! pass it forward :)
spent this week traveling so I thought I'd share some super simple strategies to make gains not losses in the middle of the airport mayhem! :)
You probably have no idea how motivating this really was..💚💚🌱
Lentil dal is my favorite! I throw a big bunch of baby spinach in mine so I get some greens along with my legumes.
love dahl :)
@@NutritionMadeSimple I put turmeric and black pepper with a bit of oil in my dal. Red lentils work best with this combo.
Your are so lucky to be in Portugal. I went to the Azores few years back. It was stunning and the people very kind. We didn't speak Portuguese but got by speaking English and French! Thank you for this great video! Enjoy this corner of Europe!
Oh wow! thanks!!
Thanks for the tips! I do worry about taking proteins on a plane. My understanding is proteins won't last but maybe a couple hours outside of a fridge which means you're hit the deadline before you even board, taking into account the time to get to the airport, get through security, and wait for the flight. The better move might be to simply get the protein at the airport, but Tupperware veggies.
Good stuff. Have a great time in Portugal 👍
thanks!!!!
So you can bring boxes with the food that you prepared in the airplane? Didn't know that D: that makes it so much easier! Thanks for this video ;)
I know, once I started doing it I was like duhhhhhh why didn't I do this before... :)
@@NutritionMadeSimple Ahahahahah! So you're not the only one :D
I am always worried about other passengers getting offended by the smell of homemade food. I am Indian and our food has a lot of flavors and smells of garlic, onions and ginger.
😂😂😂😂😅
I really enjoy you grocery haul and what you eat in a day videos (including this one) 👍🏻
Yay! Thank you!
I can't find the video of what you eat in a day anymore. Did you remove it? @@NutritionMadeSimple
Next time in MIA airport, try the Quinoa & Kale Salad with a side of rice & black beans at Corona Beach House.
thanks!!!
I travel 1-2 time a year from Australia to Asia for well.. experience sake.
When transiting the airport i have my bi annual treat and eat/drink what ever i want😅.
When i get to the destination i begin eating healthy again.
It adds another layer of fun to the experience!
I just discovered your channel. It amazes me how objective you are in your videos. I am following a healthy vegan diet, maybe I can say WFPBD. Not sure if you eat meat or not, but either way kudos to you. This type of approach and help was needed🙂
nice! yeah i think legumes and lentils are it for eating away from home. nutritionally sound, and don't take a lot of space. if one is particularly lazy, they can literally just buy a can of baked beans.
"While travelling?" You trolling me, right? lol ! I'll save this one and come back to it in 2021 ... I hope!
hahaha good point!
hey Gil, i have been watching your channel for a while, and i have learned a lot from you, thank you, by the way i know that you have been sprinkling some what i eat in a day videos every now and then to give people an idea of what healthy eating looks like, without being super prescriptive or pushy, and i can definitely appreciate that, i do have a small request for you though, since you have talked about how low carbohydrate diets can be healthy when done properly, do you think you could maybe at some point in the future make a healthy low carb what i eat in a day video?, i know that is not how you normally eat, and that is fine, but showing people there are healthier ways to do low carb than eating a lot of butter and ribeyes would definitely be something that fits with your channel´s theme...at least in my opinion...thanks for all you do, cheers
it's a good idea, to show the breadth of possibilities. thanks!
Generally, airports really are crappy when it comes to this! But it's a great strategy to eat just before you have to leave!
You had no issue getting through security with food containers? Honestly, I've never tried that (and haven't flown in a while). I know you're definitely not allowed to bring liquids through checkpoints. But I never tried food. Is there a policy for that?😋😋
never had a problem as long as it's solids. always got through with tupperwares
@@NutritionMadeSimple hmmm. I never really thought about doing that, but now you got me thinking! Definitely going to do that next time I book a flight!
Nice 👍
Welcome to Europe! 😁
I’ve found that travelling is the perfect time to do intermittant fasting.... just don’t eat and you’ll be fine!
Fruits make great meals on their own also, very hydrating and easy to digest, you never do it? I can easily eat at least 500kcal of fruits in a meal with or w/o nuts. 😃
yeah I took some as well :)
@@NutritionMadeSimple I mean big meal of fruit of at least around 500kcal till satiety, thats good, not just for snacks or dessert, doesnt seems abnormal for a frugivorous anatomy specie, i do at least one a day since 10 years! 😁
NZ crew checking in.
Enjoy your trip!
Thank you, I will
Do they not count stews as liquid when you take them through security?
apparently not :)
@@NutritionMadeSimple cool! Will try it next time..
My kind of choices.
Excellent!
It's a video as if you were there!
I will do my best to post videos of walking around town.
Let's take care of each other and post good videos!🐱
Fantastic video! I wondered, do you have any information on MSG? Is it dangerous/unhealthy to eat regularly?
Bon voyage, GC!!!
je suis arrivee :)
Hey, I know it's old video but are you vegan or why not include any kind of animal protein?
Oi Gil!
vi 2 RDs e varios MDs no Colorado
Can you please make a video explaining which supplements are required by vegans?
covered toward the end of this one: czcams.com/video/AksLcCh8uh8/video.html
@@NutritionMadeSimple Perfect, thanks!
Portanto é um doutor português de Portugal?
Algum problema com os seguranças?
sim, de Lisboa :). nenhum, a comida (solida) passa sem problemas
