  • During an emergency, shortwave radio can be a great tool. Here I show using mine to monitor the net for Hurricane Ida affecting Louisiana.
The radio used is the XHDATA D-808
The antenna is the Megaloop MLA-30 plus

I've been looking for a small portable shortwave receiver. This one looks about the right size. I have been looking at the Tecsun PL-330. Thanks for the video John

There are lots of them. Kaito makes some with several kinds of power, Retekess and Tecsun are others, but sideband is not so common and costs extra.

It’s pretty bad. I pray that people obeyed the warnings and evacuated.

@@ki4mox989 yes. I like it a lot. It has everything I would want including SSB. The only thing about this radio is the battery. You can’t install alkaline batteries in it as a backup. It has its own rechargeable installed. As long as you have a way to charge it, it shouldn’t be any problem. I would recommend it totally.

Modem connector does not enter the radio! What wire did you connect to the radio ?
