Hopefully I can grab a pair, seeing as though the hype beasts and resellers will be all over it.
My 2004 pair is still going strong. I still wear it maybe once every month. It's a tough sob.

I've been a fan of 2s and I stick by that. Just one day I found out that there was MORE MODELS to my favourite shoe, The Jordan 1. Imagine that. Just randomly finding out that there's a sequel to your favourite shoe has you questioning everything right??? I managed to test and wear a few as it was between the 2s and a Reebok Pump I was considering. Idk if it was what I was wearing that day or the lighting, but the 2s POPED OUT for me. Knowing sneakers in it's OG form are a struggle to cop, having the footlocker worker say that the 2s are in large stock blew my mind. Idk why it was underrated. The only problem was it was in womens sizes and only in stock up to a Womens 10, I didn't care. I wanted this shoe. I ordered my 2s online and copped a size 11 womens. I. LOVED. IT. I wore these shoes like crazy.
Having the experience to open that box and smell that new shoe smell of a 2s that were accurate to the true OGs made me feel I stole it from the past and brought it into todays world. Nobody was wearing these but me. Even now it's rare to see 2s in the wild and i'm so happy. An OFFICIAL Jordan shoe that only a select few appreciate, making it so unique. Makes me proud for the reason I'm doin my own thing and happy about it.
One slight problem came around my birthday just a week ago. I realised they were too big? Womens 11's are Mens 9.5? The bottom of the shoe said 9.5 too? yet it was too big? Idk if I missed sumn huge or i'm stupid but sumn was seriously wrong here. Even the box had me in shambles as it said size Women's 11 on the box? I got a shoe that's confused about it's own identity and sizing. But that didn't stop me. I WANTED MY JORDAN 2S. MY TRUE JORDAN 2S. I copped another pair but made sure to test it in a Nike store with mens sizes, went on the app and copped a mens 9. Just a 9 as I didn't wanna risk it this time just in case. As of now, it's sitting proudly on my shelf ready to be worn again for work or recreational in that nice clean/bright white leather. As for the other, I'm tryna find a seller and a correct size for the right person (as the box and shoe are sayin 2 different things) as well as it's og booklet, footlocker card, wings tag and og laces. If the seller isn't right, I got another pair of J2s ready to go for the next sneaker convention if I can sell it!
    God I love my 2s.

I hate misinformation. Not trying to be a gatekeeper. I loved watching MJ from when he was a freshman at NC. I grew up in So Cal and I was a corporal in the Marine Corps stationed in Tustin Ca when I bought the AJ2 in winter 1986 from Footlocker in one of the 19 cities to have them. I wore them to play ball in. I skated in the AJKO(knock off) as skaters called them. The AJ2 just weren’t received that well and it wasn’t because of the $100 cost. The AJ1 was $65 but Nike had flooded the market with c/w’s in addition to the original 13. When he came back after breaking his foot in the AJ1’s he played in a modified AJ1 that was more of a mid in the second half of the 85-86 season. He started the 86-87 season in the AJ1’s also. MJ hated playing in high tops. MJ played in the NC alum game in a low AJ2 UNC c/w. MJ also played in the Alpha Force low. Peter Moore did ask MJ to leave with him after the AJ2. I know this because it was talked about in the late 80’s. He in fact did stay because Nike/Tinker allowed him even more input on the AJ3. The AJ3 was MJ’s favorite shoe until the AJ11. He got every award except a championship in them. No one especially true OG’s in the 80-90’s kept there old shoes because we balled in them until they wore out. No one was on the lookout for older models. When the retros released in ‘94 not ‘95 or ‘96 and no one bought them. Plus the quality wasn’t the same as the first release. OG’s and ballers always wanted the newest/latest shoes. Not until MJ wore the AJ1 in 98 at MSG did people take notice again. Before this summer the last Jordan I walked into footlocker and purchased was the AJ17. I totally appreciate the new shoe culture and the increased influence from women now. Obviously if DNA had to outsource for original booklets for the latest AJ2 retro release it should tell you the shoe wasn’t that popular back then. But hey, what does this old dude know. Thank you for the podcast

Interesting. So because he says something that makes it correct? Like his statements that the AJ1 1994 retro wasn’t released to the public until 1995? What frustrates me is that individuals like yourself that once they feel they have arrived somewhere become deft to any opinions, statements or facts that disagree with the misinformation they have adopted. Sean sounds like an awesome guy and as a parent I totally appreciate teachers. I may not have held onto or collected old sneakers because I come from a generation and culture that we skated, played ball and actually wore them until they wore out and we tossed them. Sucks because at that time even in the nineties very few even collected pairs except for autographed ones. Most of us like my self worked 5-6 days a week and only had time for their kids and family. Anyways Marco, I had never heard of you nor will the misinformation that was broadcasted on your podcast make a difference to me but it’s unfortunate that the younger generation will continue to be misled by individuals like you or Sean who feel they have arrived by using any sort of popularity or authority they have gained. Funny only SoleSavy, whom you are affiliated with are the only one to like your comment on Sean’s insights.

    • @MeMoBarela

@@MarcoHenryNegrete If you can’t gather what I’m saying from the two lengthy messages in this thread to both of you then I guess you never will. I asked Sean to message me back on Twitter as well. I would like to truly understand how he feels that way. To put it simply he grew up and lives in Canada. I grew up in OC California. We had the third ever Nike Town. OC, LA, NY and a few large cities had releases a lot sooner than what he is saying. I even posted a production tag that I found with little effort with earlier release dates than his. Bottom line I was 20 yrs old in 1985 stationed in Tustin CA not some 11 yr old who had to have his mom buy his shoes. No disrespect you look like you grew up in the 90-00’s. You worked for the brand. You both have contacts at Nike I assume. Ask or locate someone who was actually part of the retro releases. I already shown him an earlier production tag than what he shows as proof. These can’t be the only two different production tags when I know I purchased the AJ3 and AJ1 in 1994. Honestly I think the AJ2 was released late 94 and 95 but they were treated as trash back then. There is a CZcams video a AJ1 box being discounted to $9.99 which is evidence the 1&2 were trash. Only the AJ3 was received ok. In 94, 95 & 96 no one was looking for old retros except for some signature collectors. Nor did any of the OG’s log around old kicks back then. Everyone was looking for the latest Jordan’s which were a lot more available then. The shoe game was a lot different back then. You shouldn’t try and misinform the younger generation by using todays cultures and releases with the culture and releases from the 80-90’s. Here is the third novel lol. If you’re still not understanding me, I apologize. Anyways I enjoyed your podcast with KO about the SOTY.

@@MeMoBarela I see what you're saying now. Yeah, I wasn't born back then, so I can't speak to it directly. I always appreciate the generation that was there sharing their experiences since there isn't a lot of official history from the early days of sneaker culture. I personally have a pair of Chicago AJ1s with a late 1994 production tag, which lines up with that particular pair most likely hitting retail sometime in 1995. I've seen the brand be wrong about dates, too, so not surprised there are different accounts of when things were released. That's part of what makes sneaker history so fascinating, in my opinion. It's a people's history first. I respect Sean's knowledge and personal experiences as well as yours. Thanks for sharing and checking out the pod!
