  • Hi all, in this video we are thinning out a hedge and removing dead Ash.
    We had Nev Davies plant in to do the job for us with his 14 ton Doosan digger and tree shear.
    This video was filmed back in August 2020.

    Looks like he did a nice job 👍. Looked like a fair windy day as well, not sure we’d have done it the traditional way... just shows what modern gear can do

    I thought that Nev the Rev was to busy up on TD Ladds new depot site, until I spotted the title, filmed in the summer. Good machine good operator👍

    The tree shears on a large track machine seem a job! Haven't seen one working in real life but seems they can take down big trees safely and probably at a fraction of the cost of an arborist crew when there is the space to work.
    I heard you talking about chipping, but will younot use any of the timber for firewood?

      The shear did a great safe job. We did keep some for fire wood and chipped the rest. 👍

    Very handy tool, tis amazing how they can squeeze 14 ton into a machine that not long ago would of been the size of a 6 ton
    Have ye a digger of your own on the farm?

    Did you use the woodchip for anything or was it taken away??

    • @Cotlandfarmer
      @Cotlandfarmer  Před 3 lety

      The wood chip was sold to a biomass company to power boilers in a holiday complex. 👍

    Why didn't you sell the bigger stem for firewood ?

    • @Cotlandfarmer
      @Cotlandfarmer  Před 3 lety

      The majority of the wood was chipped and sold for burning in biomass boilers at a local holiday complex. 👍
