I wish I'd read this book when I started in this industry. Robb Crocker is one hell of a shooter. I learned a tone from him.

Just starting out with blackbox. Mostly drone. Canada cottage country.
Hope this helps anyone who is wondering about where to get started :)
Man, thanks a lot for making all this videos. All very well explained and from the beginning you know it all comes from a good heart. Thanks mate!
thanks man, ive just started uploading my portfolio in facebook, and i got heaps of aerial footage, you might want to check em out! Cheers!
cheers, what do you grade footage in? premier pro? what do you export as?
Hi William I just been watching a few of your videos about stock footage and they are fantastic! I do both stills and footage and only got started in Feb 19 with photos and July 19 with vids. I've only just built up to 150 clips on SS, 103 clips on AS and 179 clips on P5 - majority of clips are 4k aerial drone. I'm already starting to see results. Woke up this morning at the beginning of the month (Feb), and on a weekend to boot when sales are slow to none, and had a $25.95 video sale on SS. So far I've sold one clip each on AS and P5. But on SS I sold two videos in September, one in October then went quiet until January when I sold 4 clips! Then as I said woke up today to see another vid sale the beginning of this month, haven't even sold an image yet. So pretty motivated to keep going with vids when you get paid much more per download than images. Your vids have given me a clearer perspective on the sorts of clip upload numbers to achieve good income and being totally new to video I think / hope I'm starting on the right track. Thank you for your videos on the subject and clearly articulated information!
great video bro love your energy and what you are building awesome I salute you !
Excellent advice. 4th tip was best for me. Very useful. Thanks for sharing. Liked and subscribed.

Really helpful. Thank you.
Thanks for all this info, super helpful! I wanted to know what frame rate would you recommend filming to get more sales; 24, 30 or 60?
Thank you so much bro its help me a lot
Thank you for your videos they are really helpful.
I have a question: Is an iPhone X good enough to start shooting stock videos?
Just created an account on Blackbox but they're having some issues this week. Hopefully, they'll fix these issues soon so I can get a better feel for the process. But great tip..thank you!
Very useful, thank you :)
thank you
great info again
Thanks!!!!!!Good Tutorial
236? You should have way more subscribers, thanks for all the Tips ;)
Tie your hands down!
How edited should my stock footage be? like if I shoot some kind of jittery 60 fps footage, is it more valuable to polish it off with some 50% speed and some warp stabilizer? Or just throw up raw clips?
Hi William. Great Video! I don't know if you have answered this but being in the UK do you shoot your stock footage in 25p or is 30p better for sales worldwide? Thanks
when you grade footage on premier pro what do you export as?
As always, good content. Number 3 should be nr 1 )))) to many bad footage out there. About number 4 there is actually a back side of the story- personally I do not bake the footage, grade to the point where is appealing and done. But I read a lot of forums where people sad that they best sellers are the one that are heavily graded. And I do tend to believe them cause if you gonna take a look at the best sellers in stock footage you will see this too. Now this aplyes more to nature footage, time lapse and some nature related footage but the truth is that Byers are lazy :) I baked some of my time lapse and they do look cool, one of them actually sold very good, but I would never grade heavily a footage on business or lifestyle. So this is kind of an experiment everybody should take and see what works for them. Cheers
Great feedback and interesting points, thank you! :)
Well done!!
Thank you Pat :)
How do you advice for exclusivity/non-exclusivity for selling stock footage ?
Cool video - upgrading my phone pretty soon so I will definitely upgrade to one that does 4k photos and video! How do you like the S8?
Very much so, beautiful video that's perfect for stock footage :)
@@WilliamHunter123 how about Huawei Mate 20 Pro?
Thank you, William! :) (Y)
Informative...thank you
Regarding 4K, seems like phones, and tablets, will continue to be the go to for most content consumers. Seems impractical for Apple, or anyone else to have 4K devices available for the masses most of whom are on a budget. That said, how do you see the 1080 to 4K gap of mass produced tech and budget oriented consumers being bridged in only 5 years?
I understand TVs will be there by then (I have one, now), but my understanding is most content is viewed on phones/tablets. Phone and tablet resolutions are inching up, but their only 1/4 of the way there now, and those tend to be the higher end devices.
The idea is, get into people's head, listen to your intuition and shoot!
If you shoot great footage in 4k what shellfire would you expect? 5/7years?
Hey so i've had a number of clips on Blackbox for over a month now and the status is remaining 'ready'. How long have people waited before the status becomes, 'online'? thanks for the help in advance!
Hi, please make a video about how to maintain CSV files and the uploading process. Thanks
I can do that, will make it a future video - replied to other mention of it from you too d/w :)
I'm really enjoying your content and have subscribed. As a new BlackBox user, I have a question about something I've read in the user guide. It says: "Note that 95% of stock footage sales are HD." As someone who wants to focus my time resources and storage space in the right place, does this imply that focusing mainly on shooting and uploading in HD formats (rather than 4k UHD) would be best? As someone who makes a living/income in stock footage, what percentage of your uploads are 4k UHD vs HD? Also, are you seeing this to be true with your own sales (95% HD sales)?
Hi Chris, happy to discuss on a call if you like. add me on facebook - same profile image - William Hunter. I don't want to openly publish such data on CZcams
But I really like doing slow-mo footage and if I shoot in 4K at 30fps, I cannot get that slow motion. My Sony A73 only has 30fps and too jittery. What do you recommend, any post tools to smooth out footage in Final Cut?
How much do you make each month with stock?
Great tips man! I want to start doing stock footage because I'm going to be traveling a lot, however, all I have is a T6i which, unfortunately, doesn't shoot 4K, could I still use it until I am able to upgrade?
Joeka Productions I would yes, HD still makes up the majority of sales but that should be feasible. I recommend shooting with it for sure
William Hunter Okay great! Thanks man
HI William, thanks for your videos! Just tell me, do you SELL stock videos shot with the smartphone? Is that reasonable?
yes
ahaha i just got my shutterstock acc activated & 1st thing i took picture of was of course bunch of grass & they didnt reject it.
Hello William! Thanks for the video, nice advice!! On the other hand, unfortunately, I can only listen to you as I get dizzy with all your hand's movements.. ;-)
So if I have HD footage only should I bother uploading?
You def upload still, HD has at least 4-5 years left of good selling potential! :)
Where have you been the last 10 months bro?
Which one is better Blackbox or Videohive?
Armada. Drake. Duck. I see what you did there.
Haha well done
first things first.. talking into a camera with your hands... but otherwise.. good info, thanks
Great tips but all you got in your portfolio is sheep and "website typing". Are they really selling? I don't think so.
Please William.. next video: keep your hands a bit more still.. ;-)
