You gotta check out this new site that will upload your footage to all the stock agencies for you. You can also split commissions if you have multiple people working on your footage. portal.blackbox.global/register?code=JH6LDSDP
Would you suggest Blackbox? I've been looking into this a lot lately and I have some clips that I want to upload. Do you think that the commission that Blackbox takes is worth time saved?
Can you work with an agency while also using that same b-roll in monetized youtube videos? or otherwise profitable way
Do you still using BlackBox?
their terms are ridiculous though they require releases for everything...
Do you colour grade the footage?
I'm Ecuadorian ... Glad to hear that you have fun in my country 😀
Its totally worth pursuing stockfootage, you might sell 1-2 clips a month at first, but when your portfolio starts to grow you can earn yourself some good $$$!
+Rhubbard StockFootage yes agreed. My advice is to start out by uploading a ton of footage. Just pull anything from your hard drives and get it online. I got 2000 shots up in 2 weeks. Now I just upload anything when I shoot it 😀
Thanks so much! Valuable info and Encouraging, much appreciated!
Thanks for the advice! Glad you enjoyed Ecuador! Its the best! :D
One the best info , thank you for a great video.
Awesome advice, thanks for sharing this!
been watching some of your videos...i learned a bit and hoping to learn more...
Excellent video, many thanks! Been to 10 countries/30 cities in the last year or so, lots of 4K stock, great course on how to stay committed and scheduled!
Really helpful. Thanks!
Thus video was helpful. Thank you!!
Interesting and very helpful!
Very interesting! Thanks!
Incredible video!
Thank you so much for your rawness and honesty!
As I understand right, 16 sec is the max clip length?
You have earned a sub! :)
Hey Jeven, thanks for all the amazing videos on Videography and Drones. I am really excited in your Complete Course on Stock Footage. You describe it as "Everything you need from beginning to end, your System and Templates and Work Flow documents. How can I get access to this amazing course?
Don't under estimate the benefit of staying organized with your data from the beginning. Naming files, naming folders etc
Thanks for the tips man. I think I'm gonna get into selling stock too.
Awesome! 😊
I think this is the video that got me started in 2018 doing stock footage. Now it pays for all my gear and some vacations.
You are so right!
How do you know if there is a problem with the meter data on your videos? Does blackbox send out alerts?
well , I didnt know for that, and I have tons of footage on my drive seating doing nothing...maybe it is time to do something about that...I will now find and watch your tutorial , ty bro
zolaneger yup you can make some good money selling stock
Thank you so much dude! Ive been wanting to do this for so long, but i have been a little intimidated by it. What agency do you recommend and what can you tell me about keywording?
something to think about
Jump cuts drove me crazy
Very Intresting
Great video, do you promote your footage on an external site to generate traffic to your portfolio/selected clips?
I have now a decent 200+ clip portfolio of aerial footage that are adequately named and have about 30-50 keywords each. They generate okay sales on some agencies but others are 0 sales --> I know many of the clips are unique so is that the particular agencies are not popular or are there way to improve the "search ranking"
How do you judge footage that may have commercial value? Also, where do you sell the stock footage? Thanks, and interesting video!
+Marshall Pitney I explain all that in my course 😀
Hi Jeven, just started looking at selling stock footage. I do photo stock. I have asked Balckbox a question that perhaps you can answer. I have drone footage but they are all from China. Do I need commercial or part 107 license to sell this footage? Thanks. Love you videos.
Hi, I'm pretty keen on your course. But if I were to start with Xiaomi Minjia 4k action camera, would that be good enough?
Hey! You explain that you edit and keyword 50 clips at a time. Of those 50 clips, how many of them on average become profitable? how much are you making on average per 50 clips? Please let me know if this is too personal and are willing to find another messaging platform to offer an explanation.
50 clips a day, wow! I really need to bring up my game level
Just try uploading a little more each week and eventually you'll get there. However at some point you'll run out of footage and have to shoot more!
Hi Jeven, great video!
Can the stock footage we sell to someone be used by ourselves personally or sold to other people?
Cheers!
yes
hey i liked your suscribe logo, now i understand why :)
your ace in the hole was that stock pile of un used footage you had on hard drives.
just 1 - 2 hours to cut and keywords 50 clips ? probably if you copy-paste all the same description to all... it takes 2 hours just to cut them without any color grading.
Hey Jevin! Just happened to come across your channel and i am very interested in your course. Just about to leave on a few business trip and i'm thinking of bringing my camera to shoot some footage to potentially upload onto a stock footage site. Any site you would recommend that is easy to start working with?
Going to look into your course but would like to get your feedback first.
Thanks
+Spawn4ever shutterstock is the best to get started with. Also Pond5.
iam exhausted already
lol same here drowning!
Thanks for great info, definitely something to consider
BTW: maybe consider longer lens than Your current one for vlogging., maybe it's just me but You almost jumping on me right off the screen :-D Like digital entering personal zone because how You appearing in video feels like You 10 cm away from me :)
I have changed up my lens from this video. This is an older one :)
Hi Jeven, I am an amateur who is trying to sell stock footage but can you pl tell me if this industry is going down ? Does it has a good potential compared to 5yrs back ?
I thought about Blackbox but I don't like giving up control over keywords to other curators. I use Shutterstock for their keyword finder, then copy/paste those keywords into Pond 5's keyword field as "add as text box". Then I add commas to separate the keywords.
With blackbox you don’t give up control. You can add all your own metadata. Blackbox just gives you the option to work with others as a team
Stock Footage? I have tons of stuff been taking a video camera every place I go from around 1987 on ward. Some stuff is well you know video tape but still good quality etc. I would like to know ho much you make a day, if that is to rue to ask and what footage brokers do you use.
A bit of advice, most agencies currently don't accept anything under 720P and even then nothing bellow 1080P really sells all that well unless it's being used for web ads or something. If I where you id forget any footage that doesn't meet those resolutions unless of course you have some crazy footage never before seen stuff from the 80's that someone might want to see.
Can you get good enough quality stock footage that would sell using an iphone with filmmic pro?
Can you upload your stock footage to blackbox and then make a montage of what you uploaded into CZcams to kinda promote your blackbox acc
woow 50 clips a day sounds like too much, I will try!💪
Is your course relevant and useful for blackbox?
Hi Jeven...sage advice...
Do you set the price per clip? e.g.$5, $10, $100
Do you color grade, or edit only?
By guestimate, how many clips have you uploaded? 1000, 2500, 5000
By guestimate what percentage of clips have been 'purchased'? 10% 25%
Please reply, if you have the time
Watch this video. Has everything you're looking for czcams.com/video/ZmQb6bRgkNs/video.html
Are you trying to inspire people!
What site do you upload too?
What about architecture? I know you can't photograph the Eifel Tower at Night but what about normal public places that are memorable? Do you need a release for these publicly accessible places?
It all depends on the location. You're going to have to check per location.
Is there any discount code for the course?
at whick agency you are selling you stock footages , i cannot find you portofolio on pond5 or shutterstock , can you provide me a link with your portofolio ?
Just joined blackbox recently, I am curious as to how long it takes to get to a first sale on a clip typically and also what types of clips are selling more than others.. There has to be a strategy for the types of clips that overall do better then some more obscure shots. any insight would be great.
It all depends on your footage. Once you submit the clip it could take the stock agencies 2-4 weeks to approve it for sale. Once the footage is live on their sites you could get sales immediately or in a few months. It all depends on the footage and how sellable it is.
Hi Jeven, great advise! I have one question: can I sell footage picturing strangers in public place?
Lets say for example a girl smiling looking at a sculture, or a guy typing on his smartphone.
Do I need their permission? It is considerably safe to do it without it?
Thank you again Jeven
Yes you need permission to sell commercial footage. You can sell that as editorial stock. Please do a google search about what the difference is before you start uploading
cool....
Hi Jeven, the link to your course does not work, tried to access, cuzz i.m interested.
How much do you make of stock footage per month?
If you own the cameras you need to keep them running!
so my dad's medical marijuana store was recently raided and he was recording part of the situation and a few officers, out of nowhere 1 of the cops comes and takes his phone and puts him in cuffs, he then shuts the video off also. viralhog is now contacting him wanting to "buy the video" is this legit? if so how does it work? should we sell it to them or what?
joe t no..
Btw how much you got average earning every month from each stock footage?
cool
Can you show us the steps you do. I just started
just signed up via you referral, you said you will share your workflow and excel
hi Jeven.. it's Jeven right?
i believe in fate n i'm fated to meet u becoz i am just starting on stock footaging ..
u look very professional yet simple, i am going to look into your course.
take care.
Check out some of my other videos on my channel. I've done a few on stock footage
How much you earn for a month?
Can you still use that footage you submitted to the agency for your own projects / videos?
Out of 50 clips how many sell on average?
What are the most popular clips you sold?
thank you!
Yes you still own all the rights to all the footage you sell. The amount of footage that sells depends on what is selling at that moment. Cant put a number on it because some footage will sell right away and some is seasonal. My most popular shots are mostly establishing shots. So something that you could open a scene with and show a location. Also shots with people do well. Again it changes every month depending on what the demand is
Taking a temperature on your sales isn't worth it until you have between 1000 and 2000 clips uploaded, from what I understand.
Hi Mr. Jeven! thanks so much for the info. I uploaded some of my work on black box and I want to ask if I need to have a release if I am only shooting hand or foot of a person? hope you can reply to my query..God bless
my stockfootage is taking so long to get aproved
do you use contact lens
Great info! I shoot a ton of video and have never thought about selling it. Sadly I delete most of the footage I collect to keep my external hard drives clear for new projects. I watched your video then took my 70d out on a little escapade in the neighborhood with my 3-year-old daughter. Filmed about thirty different nature clips. Out of the thirty clips, I had 19 that looked decent. I made an account on Shutterstock and submitted them all. Out of the 19 submitted, I had 2 that were accepted. The others were rejected for legit reasons. Things like camera shake, composition, distractions in the foreground, etc. They have only been up a few hours so no sales but thank you for the idea. I'm about to shoot several more ideas. If you don't believe me search Ben Coffman on shutter stock. I have 2 nature videos up. When I make some money selling the stock footage I plan on buying your course. I saw you have a UDEMY course is it anything like your paid online info course?
Thanks, TrainerB.
man pls let me know if it work
zolaneger yes it works. I uploaded footage to several sites and have sold a couple clips. Don’t underestimate it as easy work. It is very tedious but I have met several whom make a great living at it.
ty, can you link me some stuf with the price that you sold , want to see what is about, also tell me what is the best duration of clip , thanks
zolaneger just search Ben Coffman on the big stock footage sites and you can see what I have uploaded.
sure man gonna see now
any recommended site for selling your footage?
Yup I go though all of that in my course 😀
If you are talented, work hard and smart you can earn money in the stock business. Thanks for your video!
StockFootage.com yup! Takes patience and dedication. Doesn’t happen overnight
one qestion bro, does it make diffrent for dnone shots is it 2,7 or 4k, cuz I have many 2,7 videos, thanks!
Do you have to have a commercial FAA permit to sell drone footage?
50 clips a day? You'd need a highly polished conveyer belt system to maintain that standard over a period of time. Do you ever eat?
How do you sell stock footage that has crowds who obviously haven't signed a form...
Submit as editorial.
What happens if your blackbox application gets rejected, are there other sites I can sell stock footage?
Yes. I use Shutterstock and Pond 5. Adobe Stock and Storyblocks are others, but I hardly ever get sales there.
Is it good to use Blackbox or go direct. I am new to stock footage ...
I have all my footage in BlackBox
How many middlemen can you afford? The agencies already take more than enough, adding another middleman in this equation doesn't seem like a good idea at all to me, I'd rather do some hard yards.
The difference is Blackbox submits your footage to all the major agencies automatically, meaning if your clip sells at multiple agencies your still making more money and saving less time because you didn't have to spend days submitting to multiple agencies manually. This is exactly what your paying Blackbox for. So while you may make more money by cutting out Blackbox as a middleman your losing days of time you could be out shooting more clips.
My god, how can you do 50 in a day?
Do you have to upload in RAW?
No.
your key light is too strong.
My goal is just to sell 1 clip.
What is some of the most random stock footage you've sold? Stuff you didn't think had a reasonable chance
+Zack Richter the most recent was a shot of a buffalo I had on my iPhone. It just walked by and I pulled my phone out and got a shot. Another one is just a shot of sun coming though a palm tree. Nothing special about it
Teach me how to sell. I own p3p and spark
Course link is in the description
Your course of ''How to sell stock footage'' of $97 is too expensive for me, as a beginning filmmaker. I don't know if I will ever earn it back, as you said you were uploading for 1 year without earning any money.
Do you still using BlackBox?
Yup. That’s all I use
@@JevenDovey thank you
how do set keywords or tags to videos ive uploaded to blackbox? how would my video pop up if somebody searched something that I recorded
Watch my tutorial on blackbox. I have 2 on my channel
What????? Now that is odd, I Follow you on CZcams with this account and you just started to follow me on Twitter with my other Account.
Great info but man the jump cuts after every sentence is jarring.
Sorry. It is an older video so I wasn't as good on camera as I am now. But still the jumpcuts make it go faster...
Jeven Dovey it’s cool Jeven the info is solid!
Do I have to get my Part 107 drone license to legally sell stock footage ?
+tahosrfr if you're in the US then yes
WanderWorx what about Canada
Thats a deal breaker..How come you don't say that in the video here?
All this thing does sound good but when you go to sign up is a bunch of crazy... I took a shot of the sky tell me where I getting property release form from. All you content creators smh
Are you making more than $5,000 a month?
That's a Software Engineer's question who's over $100k on 9-5.
Some people make over $5000 but it takes a ton of footage online to get those kind of numbers. Its the long game. You put more footage up everyday and eventually you're making a ton of money off of it
