But the biggest changes aren't the ones you've heard about on TV. I compare the present situation in Afghanistan to that of Iran 40 years ago and conclude a massive Christian revival is about to break out, spurred by none other than the Taliban themselves.

You christians who believe God became a man, but deny it for a woman to become a man, are seen as lesser disbelievers than the christians whose chaste women could be married by law. That doesn't apply today as the unchasteness and adoption of western secular liberal values made her no different than an atheist or a pagan. And as for the meat, then you can't eat the meat of someone that denies Allah. Maybe few christian's in the middle east who believe in Allah as the Creator of the world would be allowed. Ask yourself. If Jesus عليه السلام walked the world now, today. Would he think you were his followers? You don't dress like him, you don't have the same beliefs as him, and he would ask you what that cross is? And you'd say: it is the cross of your crucifixion, and he'd say: I was never crucified, but if your president was waterboarded to death, would you take the water bottle as a religious symbol? If you believe I was waterboarded, then why use the weapon that killed me as your symbol, aren't you my enemies?

They claim that they are also a republic. The criteria for being a Muslim is following what the texts say. The 5 Pillars of Islam. They violate all of that.
But why would you want a Muslim to become a christian? If a Muslim asked you: "O Christians who created this world, and do you believe only the Creator of this world should be worshipped?"
What would your reply be to that? Do christians believe that only God alone should be worshipped?

Our gracious host will know this, but here are some observations that support his thesis. Out of the seven Stan countries, five are aggressively secular societies where Islam is on the backfoot: Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan. Due to the Soviet Union's influence, to varying degrees these countries ban or discourage the hijab in schools and government buildings, prohibit long Muslim beards, forbid children under 18 to go to the mosque, and allow the sale of alcohol. Only Afghanistan and Pakistan are Islamic holdouts against the secular tide in the region, and that's only by an accident of history.
Afghanistan would have followed suit if the US did not side with the mujahideen against the Soviet Union in the 1980s, because it had forward thinking secular leaders for much of the 20th century, beginning with King Amanullah Khan in the 1920s, and continuing on through its royalist and communist phases of government.
As for Pakistan, the country's founding president was fond of alcoholic beverages and thought like the English educated liberal that he was; its current president (Imran Khan) is a former international playboy and celebrity known more for wedding British plutocrats than for his religious devotions. In other words, the future looks bright for the cause of freedom in the Muslim world. The Taliban will cave to modernity as well, especially as they are so reliant on Western aid to feed their starved population for which Allah, bless him, isn't doing much. If Saudi Arabia, the heartland of Islamic fanaticism, can do it, so can these cheap knockoffs in Kabul.
Indeed, the trend away from traditional Islam seems pretty strong in most of the Muslim world. The obvious exception is Turkey. What do you make of that?

Hard to gauge. My entirely amateur analysis is that the Erdogan phenomenon is a blip in Turkish history, not a permanent feature. He's said to have neo-Ottoman ambitions. Maybe, but if so, I'm not too worried. Firstly, the Ottoman empire's was an anaemic form of Islam after the Tanzimat reforms of the middle 19th century. Jizyah and the Islamic penal code were done away with. It was Western oriented by then. People assume that Ataturk ushered in secularism in Turkey, but really the process began with the caliphs.
Even before the reforms, some caliphs like Selim the Sot, were fond of the bottle and other less than wholesome amusements for a good Muslim boy. Erdogan, it seems to me, is a conservative Muslim, but not an Islamist of the Taliban, let alone the Isis kind. He doesn't strike me as a head chopper. Not just from his legislative agenda, but from his personal dress and character. He lacks the traditional beard of the fanatic, shaving being haram afterall. And his wife, though headscarfed, wears trousers and long Western style suits, not exactly religious attire for a good Muslim woman. Small details like that often tell you as much about the mind of a Muslim as much as any other thing.
It's mildly annoying he's on the throne, but secularism is still strong in Turkey. He's facing stiff competition from the popular mayor of Istanbul in next year's election. Good chances the CHP (Ataturk's party) will reclaim the presidential palace.

Afghans and Iranians arent not facing hardships because of Islam but because of sanctions imposed by the western regimes

While a can't say much about Venezuela North Korea is the last country to cling to the old school communism. During the cold war the whole Warsaw Pact and China were hopelessly economically backwards. They were big enough so that no sanctions should have effected them much. They could have been self reliant. But their problems stemmed from the effects of stalinistic communism. China only flourished, when it embraced some capitalistic principles and the same goes for other countries. So North Koreas problems are mainly homemade, maybe aggravated by sanctions. And Christianity and Judaism and Islam all work differently. While the scripture of judaism was collected over a thousand years and it evolved. A promise was made to Abraham, but the laws were only given to Moses and so on. They await the messiah, which the Christians believe is Jesus, another step of evolution. Them comes Islam and claims some hypothetical original revelation that was always the same and has never ever changed, it was only corrupted. That is the first problem. The whole premise is different. And in Islam every minute detail is fixed, even stepping into the bathroom with your right foot. You have to try to immitate Muhammad perfectly. With claiming that their book is directly from God and eternal and unchanged, the muslims have left themselves with a lot less "wriggeling space" than jews and christians. It is all or nothing for them. ---I understand that you may have a grudge against western regimes and/or Christianity but I think that islamic missionaries cash in on this shamelessly and also make claims that simply aren't true. Islam has it's own history of conquest,colonialism, forced conversions, slavery etc, they just don't have the same honesty about history that we have developped in the west. Not making Islam look bad is always the top priority for them.( Under the pressure of aggressive fellow muslims.)

I have heard Christians, Hindus, adherents to traditional tribal polytheistic beliefs, and so on give similar stories, often harder to explain than the above. I have heard credible accounts of Christian prayers raising the dead or stopping rain storms, for example. Those are things much harder to explain than your examples above. So, I ask you: would you accept such stories given by other religions as reasons to believe in them. If so, how do we then decide which religion to believe in since most (all?) have plausible miracle accounts? If not, then why do you count this as evidence for Islam?
