  • In 1918 Frank Marshall sprung an opening trap against the legendary cuban genius José Raul Capablanca. He had been working on the trap for 8 years and was bringing the heat to the chessboard on that day. Capablanca reacted with a serene calmness that is almost unfathomable.

      It is great, but asmr as far as I know has a top sub count of less than 10mil, and same for chess. I'm not sure how many of these people overlap, so I don't think he can become huge
      Wouldn't be surprised if it's less than 5mil top subs for both

      The Gospel:
      JESUS died for our sins on the cross, HE shed HIS holy, innocent , precious blood for us (HIS blood washes away ALL sins) HE was buried but on the third day GOD raised HIM from the dead. • @ASMRChess
      @ASMRChess  Před 3 lety +65

      Capa is an absolute legend, but it is not true that he was unbeatable in Cuba at 4 years old. In the Cuban championship in 1901 Capa was 12 years old and placed 4th losing both his games against Corzo. Capablanca is one of my all time favourites and he has some absolutely incredible feats. He was undefeated from February 10, 1916, when he lost to Oscar Chajes in the New York 1916 tournament, to March 21, 1924, when he lost to Richard Réti in the New York International tournament.

    These games are always fun for me. My story is somewhat like Beth Harmon's in the movie, I found a chess book by Tartakower called "500 Master Chess Games" when I was in school and fell in love with Chess. I grew up on the games of Capablanca, Marshall, Nimzovitsch, Tarrasch, Menchik, Rubinstein, and the players from that age. So many of them are forgotten or don't get the attention they deserve.
    It was such an incredible age of discovery. Steinitz's development of positional chess and many of the new strategies and opening ideas were still in infancy. The title of grandmaster was just being invented and even the title of World Chess Champion was relatively new. It was a time for exploration, discovery, and novelty that is missing in modern chess, where everything has become about lines calculated hundreds of times by computers and just trying to find small improvements in the lines of games that other masters have already played.

    The true genius was Capablanca's father. If I see it correctly, Capablanca himself, even though a true chess master, never managed to move his Knight from a white square to another white square in one move. Only his father knew the magical secret. I mean, that is a feat that even Stockfish can't repeat.

      I'm going to do everything I can to post consistently throughtout 2021. At least. If the channel gains moment and becomes a serious source of income then I would love to just make ASMR Chess videos forever.
