  • The all-new Traeger Timberline pellet grill - need we say more? Actually, we will, because there was no stopping Chef Tony once he got his hands on the latest and greatest Traeger pellet smoker. He had the time of his life conducting this new Traeger Timberline XL review, which may or may not have also resulted in several delicious meals for our resident grill expert and his accompanying crew. (Tough work, huh?) Anyway, Chef Tony starts his review of the all-new Traeger Timberline pellet grill review with a look at the “stacked” suite of features, from the revamped cleaning and accessory systems to the optional trim kit for building the grill into an outdoor kitchen. There’s the usual quality inspection, too, with emphasis on the superior double-walled insulation and 304-grade stainless steel found in Traeger’s new Timberline XL. And it wouldn’t be a grill review without a few real-world cooking tests, including a specially designed trial for the industry-first induction side burner. Yeah, you read that right: Traeger built an induction cooktop for the new Timberline pellet grill. We’d say more, but we’re busy eating Chef Tony’s reverse-seared beef tenderloin topped with beurre blanc sauce. #BBQGuys #Traeger #PelletGrill

Chef Tony Matassa grew up in the restaurant business, starting in his family’s New Orleans eatery before running one of his own. No wonder he has such vast knowledge of and passion for food science, which he puts to use every day as our jack-of-all-trades (and master of many). Longtime fans of the channel know Tony has been testing grills for more than 10 years, though we’re partial to his performance in our recent Grillabilities℠ series.

Really loving my timberline xl until the motherboard shut down and fried. Traeger trouble shooted with me for 3 hours but the board was dead. They are sending me another but I’ve only cooked on mine 5 times. This was my first brisket smoke all night. Also the meater probes don’t connect very well. For 4500$ with all accessories, I’m really disappointed. Hopefully this will all be fixed with new motherboard. I’m posting on all timberline videos to warn new buyers.

I have had so much trouble with my Timberline XL with flame out sensor replaced twice, then the motherboard and nothing worked kept getting the flame out sensor error. Then Traeger switch me out with a new Timberline XL grill only to get the same problem again. Now waiting on a flame sensor for this second new Timberline XL grill but nothing have been shipped out it's been going on two weeks and every time I call I have to wait countless hours just to get through. I am so frustrated with this new Timberline XL grill and wanting them to just give my money back. NOTE: THIS IS TGHE SECOND TIMBERLINE XL GRILL SAME PROBLEMS

No mention that it costs $3,800. Is a single electric induction cooktop worth $3,000? A legitimate review would state that the induction cooktop addresses the issue that pellet smokers have always had - they don't get hot enough to sear meat. I have Traeger and recommend it all the time, but for what it does which is smoke and slow cook meats at medium and lower temperatures. A honest review would state such short-comings, and thus why the induction cooktop was added.

I got the Pitboss KC combo and it, along with some newer Pitboss models, has a lever you pull to open the firebox dome and allows you to sear directly over the fire.

But it’s still not worth 4k! I’d rather buy the x6 2nd gen Weber pellet grill! Cost about 1k

That want even a review. More like, “here’s what a traeger timberline is”. How did it work? Does it hold temperature well in hot, and cold outside temperatures? How’s the app work on the phone, is that well designed? How much does it cost?

I have a new Timberline XL less than two months and I having all types of trouble with the fire sensor, then the mother board and the sad thing about the situation NOBODY at Traeger seem to care. I have to wait on a area tech guy to come out base on his schedule it taken several days before anyone to come out to fix the problem. I paid too much money for this grill to be having major issues so soon. are anoybody else out there having issues with this grill for what I heard not too many people know much about this grill yet so SAD Traeger

Unlike previous, as someone looking at different types of cookers, I found it very helpful...average Joe doesn't need to know every spec, just that it's reliable and will operate efficiently when switched on..thanks.

At almost $4,000 I'm not sold. I'd like a review that shows how easy it is to clean where ashes and grease are mixing into one container. I am looking at the rec tec RT 1270, bigger grill better build quality less than half the price. I might pay $1,500 for this grill and give it a try. But if the build quality is like the treager that I have now no thanks.

I almost downvoted this video and navigated away, but I'm glad I didn't. After watching the first full minute of the video I was under the impression that you didn't actually have access to the physical product and that this was a 'read the feature list' style review. By the time I got to the performance section it became clear that not only do you have the physical product, but you've put it through it's paces.
I think that including at least some footage of Tony talking to the audience in the presence of the grill would make a huge difference in gaining people's trust, instead of having all of the talking done with the orange background and all the shots of the grill B-roll. Tony's style of speaking also sounds a bit infomercial like, I don't think it's a problem on it's own but combined with the style of shooting against the orange background with only B-roll of the grill it really give the impression of a commercial not a review.

Hard to believe that anyone with a $4000 budget would choose a Chinese made product. Traeger grills build quality is lacking compared to its American counterparts. Fit and finish on traeger products is also a problem. I suppose if I got one for free I would sing it’s praises like most of the reviews I’ve seen.

Really wish the testing here was a bit more scientific. Words like "lightening fast" and "screaming hot' are very unhelpful for understanding grill performance. Simarly with "the burgers all turned out delicious," rather than any sort of temperature testing.
