    07:43 - Final Thoughts on the Traeger Timberline XL
    I've been running the Traeger Timberline XL for over a year and it hasn't let me down once. The upgraded Timberline XL pellet grill feels sturdy and offers several cool newly added features.
    When it comes to pellet grills, a controller is the first thing everyone talks about. The Timberline XL has the newly designed D2 Direct Drive WiFire PID full-color touchscreen controller. The temperature can be adjusted in 5-degree increments, plus this pit comes with super smoke and keep warm modes. You can also utilize the mobile app, which is extremely user-friendly and features a variety of recipes.
    With 289 lbs, the Traeger Timberline XL is a pretty heavy grill and can boast a whopping 1320 square inches of cooking space. A double-walled cooking chamber and a gasket prevent the smoke from escaping, so I'm truly impressed by how this pit holds the smoke.
    Timberline XL offers one feature that I was surprised I would use that often and it's the induction plate. Forget running to the kitchen to heat up your sauce, as you can now do it all in one place. As for the storage, Traeger Timberline XL offers a large cabinet plus two removable side shelves underneath the hopper.
    The hopper holds 22 lbs of pellets which is enough for an overnight cook. And the low fuel sensor will remind you when it's time for a refill. The top of the hopper lid has a removable cutting board. While I haven't had to use it, I do believe that this is a nice little feature in case you ever need more space.
    The Pop-And-Lock system is a Traeger's special feature. It is a railing system that allows you to hang things like a spice rack, tool hooks, or a paper towel holder. But my personal favorite Traeger accessories are the removable front shelf and the grill cover.
    Over the year, I've cooked a variety of meals on this pit: pork butts, chicken, pork ribs, grilled shrimp, you name it and every time I was pleased with fabulous results. I like how everything finishes at the same time, even when I smoke large amounts of meat.
    My overall opinion of the Traeger Timberline XL is definitely positive, but this pit might not be for everyone. Timberline XL is made for a large family or someone who loves cooking for a big company. With a large cooking space, extra storage, and the induction plate, this pit got it all.

    Nice video on the big boy. I think I’ll stick with my Traegar Pro 575 since I rarely cook for more than 4 people. Besides, I could put that $3,500 to better use.

    • @SmokedBBQSource
      @SmokedBBQSource  Před 5 měsíci +3

      Completely understand that!!!! This is their flagship pit and nothing wrong with a Pro 575!! Thanks for watching!!

    Apparently I missed this video. Great review. But considering the price I'd just rather go with the Lonstargrillz pellet cooker. Ricer may you and your family enjoy the holiday weekend. 🎅👍🎄

    Ricer
    I like using a drip pan, foil pan to catch all the dripping. To make that liquid gold. You think you could put a shallow pan under the bottom grate? Looks like a small space.
    Also how good does it hold heat in the cold WI months?

    • @SmokedBBQSource
      @SmokedBBQSource  Před 2 měsíci

      Ya I think a shorter pan could fit under there or you can just use the top rack for your meat!!??!! The chamber being double walled, helps a lot in the cold! Thanks for watching!

    Have you had any flare ups? I had 2 grease fires in mine XL. Last one was doing 70 lbs of pork butt. Seems like the drip tray doesn’t run everything down the hole as intended

    • @SmokedBBQSource
      @SmokedBBQSource  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I have had 1 flare up in the past but now I just make sure it is clean good between the 2 cooking liners. I agree though, grease builds up and does not make it all the way to the grease and ash keg! Thanks for watching!

    I have the timberline 1300 and it is absolutely awful. Constant issues with not starting. Had the rep to the house and they moved the igniter 1/2 inch and it still has issues.
    As far as grilling it will not grill a steak properly even though they profess it will. The rep said I had to put towels and blankets over the unit to get it above 400 degrees in the summer. Good luck if you buy one I have had nothing but issues for a $2500 grill

      I have had several Traeger pits and never really had any issues with any of mine. Sucks yours is not running good, thanks for watching!
