    Unfortunately I think the mic was so bad for recording the audio that neither speaker sounded like they do in real life so it was really hard to tell what one sounded better. Thanks for taking the time to make the video and I am sure you have improved you setup since this video.

      I agree about the mic, it was poor quality, but even with that I thought the SVS towers had more clarity and detail in the music. The Klipsch sounded better localizing the dialogue in stereo mode than the SVS.

      @Hemp Adventures The SVS lacked clarity and definition in the highs. There's a muddy, muffled quality to the Ultras. The SVS Ultra's are good, but for an additional $800, I would hope for a much bigger difference compared to the old RP-280.

    6:56 to 7:08 the detail in the SVS excels in the sense you can hear the cymbals better and it doesn't sound muffled as the Klipsch when played the same clip.

    If I’m being honest, I think I WANT to like something else just because Klipsch is so mainstream and I like to think I’m more hip.

      Agree 100%. The Ultras sound good, but not for $2000+. If they were $1200, I would give them the win. The newer RP-8000F's are a significantly better sounding version of the RP-280's and they're still nearly half the price of the Ultras. Compared to the soft rolled off highs of the Ultras, it's understandable why some might appreciate hearing the details the RP-280's provided that were missing on the other speakers. I wouldn't purchase the RP-280's even now at their ultra low price, but I would take the RP-8000's at $1200/pair over the Ultras at $2000/pair. And now that Martin Logan dealers are clearing out their stock of Motion 60XT's at $1700/pair, those speakers absolutely destroy the Ultras.

    From my experiance with the klipsch Rp-6000f you have to point them directly at the listening position (toe them in until you only see the front and not the sides) for best results. I use their SPL-150 sub to suport them and have them crossed at 80hz. Until now I haven't heard distortion from them but I'm only using a buget avr (denon avr x1500H). I bought the speakers for 650€ and the sound better than my infinity bookshelfs.

      @Hemp Adventures Too much hemp my man. I don't know where you're getting the clarity. The detail in the highs is very thin and weak in the SVS. I was hoping that SVS would fix the tweeters and overall frequency response but it hasn't happened yet. If you like them, that's great. But SVS wants $2,000 for a pair of Ultra towers and they sure don't compare well to other towers from high end brands at the price point. The RP-280's in this comparison are an older model. The RP-8000's are $1,200 per pair, have a much more neutral sound with less peaky high frequency output and a flat frequency responsem, and deeper bass extension than before. Pretty hard to settle for the SVS Ultras when they don't sound as good as many other brands of towers also selling for $2000/pair (or less).

      @@karlschauff7989 There are a lot of speakers out there selling for much less than the Ultras. Overall they're not bad speakers, just way overpriced. I agree on the tweeters. They're just a little too relaxed. Having so many woofers, there's a lot of intermodulation distortion. The soind is also very compressed and I wasn't happy with the soundstage. There were some details in the guitar that were missing on the SVS. There's some weird phasing or modulation going on. Sometimes they provide good clarity and other times there's a big lack of detail. Like everything is compressed. These older Klipsch 280's are brighter than the newer models and the midrange has some weakness in it. Good detail and dynamics though. Bass not quite as strong as the Ultras, but very solid considering they're at least 40% cheaper than a pair of Ultras. I think the RP-8000F's would be even stronger in a comparison. Both the SVS and Klipsch have strengths and weaknesses. If the Ultras were $1200, I would give them the win. But at $2000 they're overrated speakers IMO. Klipsch wins because of what you get for the price.

    No controversy that's just whatever sounds best to your ears everybody's different everybody has different tastes there's no right there's no wrong because there are speakers out there that are $100,000 a pair that should technically sound better than either of those and again it just depends some people like the sound of something that cost them $500 versus $50,000 so it's subjective. Plus what you can't do is you can't leave them side-by-side like that because there is something in electrical audio terms and that is a cancellation of sound especially if another cone or another speaker is next to it because what ends up happening is it literally dampens the sound of what is playing so you should never have to speakers right next to each other like that if you're going to run tests for everything future forward :-) good video buddy

You should actually ask SVS if they would send you the prime Towers to do a comparison back and forth between the Ultras. Also as far as auro-3d remember the biggest thing that they want is the differential between high and low speakers four fronts and backs plus your Center that you have in the middle of your ceiling technically an Optimum setup they actually want to Center channels one below and above your tv

    Nice setup, sounds terrific! I'm gonna look these Klipschs up. Sure would like to know where I can purchase a stand like yours.

    Gonna say the Klipsch is the better product. Both sound amazing, and in most tests they trade blows im terms of performance. But here is the thing, de Klipsch are so much cheaper that there really is not much of a reason to get the SVS for only marginal improvement (if any). But that's just my take on it. Also, imo the Klipsch look waaay better.

      uh huh. And which set do you own? haha. Yeah I thought the same until I demo'd the svs in person. The ultras are a little pricey, but the primes are a great speaker if you give them a chance. I like both dont get me wrong.

      Weird, for me Klipsch is the worst sounding speakers I've ever auditioned. And compared to these SVS they don't hold a candle to them. It's one thing to be a fan boy of consumer line speakers because you may not be able to afford better sound, but be real bro, Klipsch is garbage.

    The klipsch does a better job of accurate sound reproduction. Svs might have more boom boom. Something id of liked to have when i was in my party days college dorm room. Klipsch is just more refined sounding.

    cleaner detail out of the svs not much room fill , Klipsch nice room fill , nice detail but horns tend to not have exact detail . If you like rock i have always found Klipsch to be a good speaker for rock.

  • @TheBluuHouse

    Ok, here is my opinion. As a former audio engineer. I like the SVS for music and the Klipsch for movies. The Klipsch are very mid range heavy and the horn/wave guide makes the tweeter bright and loud!! Hence the reason PA speakers use horns. I say for extreme detail listen to a set of Bowers & Wilkins, KEF or Focal-JM Lab speakers. They are wonderful with music and some with movies.

      alphazoom II yeah I think you mentioned those before. I can’t seem to find them to do a demo. I’ll keep looking though. Of course you know I’ll keep it neutral like Switzerland. I don’t have bias when it comes to this channel.

      What happened to the Chane L7’s alphazoom II? I thought the L7’s were supposed to be released by now. I saw the A4.5 were available on the Chane website.

    • @alphazoomii9408
      @alphazoomii9408 Před 6 lety +1

      L7 are in production but not "final" production yet. The new A5.4 are for sale but unless you were on the early buy ins, you won't get a pair for a good 2 months... I was on the earliest list for the A5.4 towers so mine should be here in July. The L7 towers are going to be significantly more money though. By the way things seem to get delayed I expect the L7 series to be a good 6 months away. The A5.4 were supposed to be here in March or even May at the latest at one point. Things got delayed...Chinese new year and such.

    • @ThatHomeTheaterDude
      @ThatHomeTheaterDude  Před 5 lety

      Nah. Its pretty simple. get a stud finder, fiberglass fishing rods or fishing tape. Its easiest with a one story, You just go through the attic. Outside walls are harder because they have plastic barrier in between the drywall

    Super! Even though youtube and my TV speakers (this TV is my PC monitor) the SVSes sounded much better to me!
    Two thoughts:
    #1 It would be great if you'd find a way to make youtube audience to hear most of what you could during this test.
    #2 I liked your TV stand because your center channel speaker fits well there, so what size is your TV, your center channel speaker that fits that well and what brand is the stand?

    Great demo!! I like the SVS's better. Klipsch ALWAYS have a unreal sounding high end. But that is what they are marketing! Maybe great for rap music - but over all types of music they give you listening fatigue. They don't produce the music the way it was recorded. Good speakers should produce all the music frequencies evenly - not focusing in one or two areas (highs or lows). All said - Klipsch are great speakers but I would pay the extra money for a better overall sound with the SVS. Again, thanks for a great video and honest opinion (which I agree with!)
