Yeah, what the heck happened to that gorgeous piece of kitchen apparatus anyway? It really spiced up the place. I guess it's a good match for that rickety table now though..
Hand seamer pliers like those used for working on ductwork are great for straightening out bent metal like the piece you flattened on the concrete, Home Depot sells them and you may consider getting one for future use
Hi John I just wanted to mention to make sure you're careful when wiring the power supply for the mk2. On the midway jamma harnesses the colors for the voltages are different than most jamma harnesses. The yellow wires are actually -5v and the 12v are orange. Just make you triple check in case yours is different. I just thought I would mention because I made this mistake in the past and fried an mk2 sound board.
Hey John. Your first instinct was right. The flat headed bolts are used to secure the control panel. The other bolts are for the monitor. in addition, the remote board does fit on that metal bracket. The wood it's attached to is kind of flaky so you may need to re-secure it, but the remote board does fit and attach there. These games initially came with a Hantarex Polo so yeah, that will fit.
John, I just wanted to say thank-you for all your awesome videos. I disccovered your channel about 3 or 4 month ago, and now I am hooked! I watch at least one of your videos everyday, please keep up the good work man, YOU ROCK! Also, I love your tony hawk skateboard.
Mk2 is looking good John, man you scared the crap out of me. I thought you were going to lose the monitor or throw out your back. I'm glad it turned out in a positive way 👍
just use a small screwdriver for the missing knob on the control board. I'm so used to seeing that, i think it came stock like that..Hanatrex arent the greatest monitors..
For taking rust off of metal edge pieces, bolts, and just about anything metal instead of sanding, I use brass wire brush wheels that I insert in to my cordless drill... the brass doesn't etch very much but takes rust right off easy, and also paint if you want to go at it a little longer...
Hey John, i've recently bought my first arcade and restored it. It happends to be a MKII so if you want i can take some pictures of whatever you need. It's the least i can do since i started this hobby because of you.
Its getting close man nice, ive been struggling with my pole position 2 harness it was totally hacked and modded when i bought it; hopefully your MK2 will line up and be straight. Best of Luck. -Mitch
Holy crap dude. I got scared when you put in that monitor. I have done it a few times, so I know it is awkward to deal with. I could just see the monitor fall back and break the tube. Gaaah. But you did it right. Getting the two buttom ones on first is the way to go. And then tipping it in on the top ones. Either that or laying the cabinet on its back and then lowering the screen in.
So glad to see you will be at the SFGE again. It was a real treat seeing you there in 2015. I didn't make it there last year, but I hope to this year. Are you going to have a meet-up for your southern fans while you are there?
Great to see the MKII coming along John, it does seem like more of a chore than enjoyment these days, and maybe your attention to detail is slipping, I have followed all your vids on this channel and enjoy every minute.
See ya in 2 months for the next video! Just kidding. Come on John finish this up and get a video out next weekend. To hell with your 25 podcasts, Twitch shows and daily Switch updates!
John or anybody know where I can buy online the original white Cherry mirco switches for my joystick and buttons? I don't care for the black switches and those are Zippy brand and they have a hard press sound compare to the original Cherry switches.
Hey John I'm a big fan, working on a baby Pac-Man. The only thing not working on it is the pinball field. I think I just need to check all the connections underneath. Sodering all the parts that aren't working shouldn't be too bad right?
Hi John- been trying to contact you via the contact link on your website but it doesn't seem to work....any other way I can contact you? Need some advice! Thanks!
Your "lefts" and "rights" during Dragon's Lair gameplay had me questioning reality! 😂
You need to restore that popcorn machine... I smell a 10 part'er LOL
And no new parts- you have to restore it using what's there!
Well, a 10-parter, that is. What's the stray apostrophe supposed to be for?
Yeah, what the heck happened to that gorgeous piece of kitchen apparatus anyway? It really spiced up the place. I guess it's a good match for that rickety table now though..
Welcome back John and another great video enjoy watching these Restorations. keep up the good work man :)
Daybreaker me too!
Like the basement chaos John!! I can totally relate. Too many games!!!
Anyone else notice the applause that was in the background shortly after John got the monitor back in the cabinet?
It’s an hour long! Yeehaw! Gonna save this for tonight with my giant steak n cheese sub! 👍
Mortal Hernia is nearly complete! hahahaha as always John epic vid mate, and yes to Dragons lair awesome idea :)
Looking good John! I hope to see part #17 soon. Thanks for sharing : )
Hey John. The flat bolts go in the front of the CP and were originally painted black. Looking good!
That monitor sucks to install on your own. Nice job John!
Sure, let's see some Dragon's Lair to the end!
That MK 2 looks great!!
That recycling bin has seen better days. Love how the busted up popcorn machine is still there as well. 🤣
That is his portable workbench on wheels
Those monitors are no joke. I put one in by myself too.

My head kinda exploded over that spaghetti of wires in one of the first videos! It's just taking you 'til now to feel that?? CRAZY!!
I'm not looking forward to figuring that out
Awesome Video :D
Mk2 is looking good John, man you scared the crap out of me. I thought you were going to lose the monitor or throw out your back. I'm glad it turned out in a positive way 👍
John I love you man!! I watched every second of this video. You have been missed
You need to make Mortal Kombat with the three different boards in it with a switcher.

Been missing these weekly videos John....
Been off 2 months basement is a wreck and that popcorn making is killing me LMAO
Going left always on outrun is the easiest path to finishing the game, I’ve played the hell out of it on Sega Saturn. Glad MK II is almost done
It's almost a shame you don't do these live. I have a MK2 cab that I'd have been glad to snap pictures of.
Hey John, i've recently bought my first arcade and restored it. It happends to be a MKII so if you want i can take some pictures of whatever you need. It's the least i can do since i started this hobby because of you.
Thanks for the offer! I'll let you know.
I'm all for the Dragon's Lair challenge. If you could get *Time Warp* it would be awesome!
Its getting close man nice, ive been struggling with my pole position 2 harness it was totally hacked and modded when i bought it; hopefully your MK2 will line up and be straight. Best of Luck.

Im betting that turning one of those knobs around would work on the vertical shift
Christ John, you only got one back you know.. that looked pretty hairy... Anyway, nice job on the restoration so far. It's looking beautiful! 0))

Maybe get one or two of those vacuum suction cups to install monitors? My fingers felt the pain looking you put it in... :)
John, let’s do Dragon’s Lair live! I can help you through it. I finished it when I was 12 years old. 😉👍👍 Great Video!

YESSSSS
Yes my prayers have been answered! Thank You Jesus!
The three things I'm waiting for a new season of Game of thrones and Rick and Morty and Mortal kombat 2 to be finished.
I think the popcorn machine might be out of order.
I think the Gamersons should visit John’s Arcade
Is it bad for the monitor if you put the cab on its back and install the monitor from above?
No, that was certainly an option. I chose the more hairy way. :)
Heeeeeey
Welcome back
Im happy now
Hey John, Do you have any word on when Ian Kellogg will be able to open up again?
If you get into an intense (drunken) game of MK2 you might want those two extra bolts
That MK coming to fruition--beautiful.
Side note: John, any luck on the quest for 300k? I'm back on a DK kick.
R2-POP2 isn't looking so good (I think he looks like a dilapidated droid lol)... Time for a repair me thinks... Thanks for the video John! Awesome!

John or anybody know where I can buy online the original white Cherry mirco switches for my joystick and buttons?
I don't care for the black switches and those are Zippy brand and they have a hard press sound compare to the original Cherry switches.
