Same here...I also add 4 pieces bacon cooked and crumbled to the meat mixture...and I use bushes baked beans. 😋

I love those dishes handed down from generation to generation. One of my favorites was and still is my mom's fried potatoes and onions. So simple but oh-so good...yum and let summer begin!

I remember this recipe, add some garlic and onion powder also. Served with corn on the cob and fried potatoes. Good on top of baked potatoes. So much you can do with this recipe…😊

Hi Catherine!!! When I was a child we never ate picnic food unless we were at relatives for a get together. My Mother ♡ never made homemade beans , potato salad etc... we just never had it. We ate can pork & beans. That is what I like. I cannot eat beans with ground meat or sauacage in it. I just can't . I'm sure your recipe really is delicious . Now my dear husband ♡ who was from a family of 15 people ate everything!!! I like watching you cook. Nice Video!!!...🦋

We were going to barbeque over the weekend but there were too many cicadas dive-bombing the porch, so we decided to make this and serve it as a main dish with my fabulous corn bread. It was a big hit. We're having leftovers of this on hamburger buns with ruffles chips for a quick (if not naughty) meal tonight. Thanks for the easy recipe!

I made this today and used ancho chiles in adobo sauce. This was so good! I put the hassleback polska kielbasa on top.
We had these beans today for lunch and supper...boy oh boy, were they spectacular!! We enjoyed the beans more than the pork chops we had to go with them! We did cook them in the crockpot since it's too hot here for the oven in North Florida (kinda like you guys have it in Texas!). Thanks for sharing all you do!
My recipe is somewhat similar to yours. I call mine Bonfire Baked Beans as I typically make them in a Dutch Oven lined with a layer of bacon that I cook over coals near the campfire when camping with one of my camping groups. The only differences with my beans are that I use 2 pound of ground beef, one pound of Lil' Smokies, add a Tablespoon of Brown Grain Mustard, add one can of beans, and add 2 Tablespoons of a very flavorful Balsamic Vinegar. I top the Dutch Oven with a layer of French's French Fried Onions, and reserve some for garnish.

I bought myself a meat chopper and my hubby said use a fork I told him no it will scratch my pans the chopper will not. I love my meat chopper❤😊
I just use a wooden spoon. It works great.
No peppers and put lightly cooked bacon on top then bake whole thing! So good!

We used to family reunions when I was a kid and family would come from all over Texas! Then we started having them again when I was a young adult. By then, we had another generation!😁
I grew up eating baked beans and we learned how to make them from our mom!😘
She usually put bacon in them and a touch of molasses and they were around all summer long!☺️

I love your recipes and have made some of them. I grew up in Mississippi too...Greenwood, moved to Greenville where I raised my children before moving to Arkansas.
I love this recipe. This is what I grew up on also. I’m going to be making it for our memorial day picnic.
I worked at Woolco when my kids were babies.... About 48 years ago!!! This store was in North Little Rock, Arkansas. I loved working there... It was like a family😊 I worked the accomodations desk or service desk, is what they call it now. 🙃👍

I love baked beans (my husband doesn’t eat beans😳). Never thought of adding ground meat. My mom would sometimes add bacon. That certainly looks delicious!! Great recipe❤

You knew summer was coming when my momma made a triple batch of her beans like this (they were called calico beans) she'd freeze them in containers for bbqs and picnics during summer when it was too hot to bake.

I use yellow bell pepper instead. I also add about 1/4 cup bbq sauce.

Hello there. Love your bean & ground beef or meat casserole. I would add jiffy cornbread mixture in layers to make a chili pie. Add a half a can of hot Rotel tomatoes to spice it up. Like your cooking videos. Have a pleasant day. ❤

That would have such a nice texture and depth of flavor using homemade baked beans instead of canned! The beans would hold there shape and not be mush.
That's how I always made mine with Van Camps pork n beans.If you get the can of baked beans why bother putting in the ingredients that you used.Looks almost identical to the way I make mine.😊I have never used those peppers before.

Same recipe my mom gave me and I still make today. All but the peppers. My grandkids won't eat them.
