    Lets be honest.... the real reason beat saber is successful is because the venn diagram between people who adopt VR and want to own a real lightsaber is basically a circle.

    Moments I can remember that brought the masses to the internet was AOL, then mp3s & CD Burners, then it was smart phones. I remember people making fun of me for using the internet and having an email address in the mid 90s. I see people making fun of VR users in the same way now.

    The biggest hurdle to the success of the Metaverse is the fact that it is Meta.

    • @DawidEstishort
      @DawidEstishort Před 2 lety +5

      Metaverse isn't Meta. Zuck did a good job appropriating the term. He might as well have changed his company's name to "Internet".

  • @djp1234

    The best Oculus VR app that I've used so far is Brink Traveler. The coolest, and most useful thing the metaverse can do is take you to scenic destinations, but they're not focusing on that. They're focusing on stupid cartoon graphics.

    • @KillerLettuce
      @KillerLettuce Před 2 lety

      I would think part of that is simple logistics. If you want to show a scenic destination you need to send someone there and set everything up and take a bunch of high res pictures or video. Its a whole production. The cartoon stuff can be made without having to leave the office or hire anyone extra.

    • @djp1234

      @@KillerLettuce yeah they can do that with the BILLIONS of dollars they’re spending on the metaverse. If a small company can do it, then Zuck can do it too.

    • @KillerLettuce
      @KillerLettuce Před 2 lety

      @@djp1234 Im not talking about finances. They can fund it and could do it if a hundred times over, but it still takes time and effort to plan these types of projects. Money can't speed up time.

    • @djp1234
      @djp1234 Před 2 lety +1

      @@KillerLettuce it takes 1 day to photograph the area and 3D scan objects, and maybe a few weeks to stitch it all together in software. Easily doable with BILLIONS of dollars and a large team working on it. It’s not that time consuming.

    One fact remains, and is prohibitive to entry for some people, and that is for the metaverse to truly take off people need an internet ID system that has to confidently identify a user, associate wallets in a consolidated manner and still give them the same options of anonimity in real life as they are used to. And it can't happen whilst there is a concerted effort to throw negative connotations on blockchain and NFT based products.
