    I've stopped eating sugar for about 1 year now. I AM down to 155 lbs from 204 lbs. The foods you can eat is limited to natural foods, the outer isles in the grocery store. If you read labels you will see that everything processed has sugar added. I've never felt better and I am now 68 yrs young. Thank you Dr Mandell for all the info you put out there.       We use pure cane sugar in the west Indies. The US uses corn fruitose syrup.

    I am a 51 year old male with a huge sweet tooth. My poor memory has been a concern for many years, so much so that I feel like I have been showing signs of Dimentia for the last several years.       Hello, also, if I may suggest, there's a strong gut health mental health connnection. By repairing the gut you'll be free of mental problems. I healed from depression, anxiety and brain fog. I used the gaps diet, with probiotics rich fermented foods everyday. It makes a great difference in little time.

    My parents didn't let us eat sweets until around Christmas when my mother made pies and bite-sized confections, all homemade. Even then the amounts we ate were rationed. I never had a cavity until I was eleven and I was buying chocolate bars with my allowance. Went off sugar until the drinking years and then the sugar was through beer and sweet cocktails. After that, no sugar again until my current roommate who lives on sugar, is fat, borderline diabetic, etc, had/has sugary cr*p everywhere. He has neuropathy so badly! So I am off sugar again, probably for life. Thank you for this. I don't believe people know how bad it is for your entire body and brain. Cheers! 😊

    I left refined sugar about 7 years now..cancer loves sugar and promotes the growth of cancer cells…and surprisingly oncologist never tell you to stop eating sugar. Ok, actually it’s not.

    I am a carbohydrate addict. I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes. As with any addiction l had to quit the carbs cold turkey. Just cutting down for me is like telling an alcoholic to just cut down on your alcohol intake. Am now eating carnivore and don't even crave carbs.

    I was hypoglycemic years ago. I used the Schwartzbein Principle to go low carb, which really helped for years, but when I went ketogenic, it was a game changer! Strict keto for 10 years now in a couple more months and will never go back! Just have to add electrolytes like magnesium , potassium and salt, and drink more water, because keto makes your body throw off water and salts. No sugar, no grains or starches. Eat high good fats like coconut oil, butter, avocados and fatty meats.

    I quit sugar 8 years ago and did keto for a long time. I now eat some gluten free starches, fruit and occasional honey. I still have inflammation and GI issues and am now questioning sugar alcohols and tree nuts (two major players in many keto/low carb recipies)
    A video on pros/cons of sugar alcohols and/or tree nuts would be awesome

    Two points ( among many). Losing weight is nearly impossible if you consume sugar. Your body uses sugar for energy and will not burn fat. Carbohydrates turn to sugar, with the same results. Seventy four year old man here. 6' 3" 180 lbs. 32" waist. Works for me. Although I do have to limit potatoes and pasta.

    Shew! I've drunk my tea and coffee with sugar all my life. At 60, I drink black tea with no sugar. Slowly cuttting back in my coffee. It was easier to give up carbonated drinks. 😅

    I Have to stop Sugar TODAY or I might not be around tomorrow. Just got out of Hospital.. I have Lymphedema in lower legs, been Healthy my whole life but over last couple yrs terrible diet, stopped exercising etc went into depression etc. I feel i have a 2nd chance at Life today BUT SERIOUSLY PLEASE WHAT CAN I EAT IF STOP EATING SUGAR PLEASE?       Ya I eat alot of sugar sh*t, I DONT/can't cook so I like to get easy quick things to eat, but I have ALOT of issues like fibro, hair loss, chronic fatigue, depression ect so I'm WONDERING if it ISSS my "diet" or is it a mixture of things??       Shop from Living Well Community Health Stores. They sell healthy vegetarian health alternatives and will even show you how to create simple health recipes.
      But start by drinking lots of water. Throw in it some squeezed lemon juice, grated ginger and turmeric.
      Fruits and vegetables are great.
      Bananas will help diminish sugar cravings.
      Add in some crunchy carrots which ate also good. Chew them raw. Crunchy and filling.
      Steamed beetroot are also great.
      Wholesome food is amazing.
      Boiled sweet potatoes
      Boiled brown rice flavoured with salt and some cold pressed organic brown and even red rice. Lentils and beans. Salads ie red cabbage, carrot, red onions, avocado salad dressed using lemon juice, pink Himalayan salt and olive oil. You may throw in some olives too.
      Dates are a healthy alternatives for refined sugar.
      For ice cream freeze some bananas, throw them in the food processor, add some dates and your favourite flavour then enjoy.
      If you combine blackstrap molasses, a little honey and some peanut butter the outcome is a chocolaty taste. Throw in some car on powder and the end product is fabulous. Eat lots of leafy green vegetables. Even a combination of chopped kale seasoned with salt and olive oil can be refreshing.
      Combine tomatoes, onions, grated carrots, semi ripe mango, some salt and even half a teaspoon of honey and enjoy. I stopped taking processed foods including the so called sodas/ soft drinks years back and I feel great. With time craving for filth that's being sold as drinks and food will go. Nuts are also great. They make you feel satisfied coz they're oily. We're so used to eating rubbish that we need to apply super willpower to fight it off.
      Where I live it's easy to get the natural foods fresh from the garden/shambas . Maybe that's one of the advantages of living in the so called Third World countries 😂

      start day off with an apple... sweet potatoes cleanse gut, add turmeric.... carrots.... cauliflower..... wholemeal bread/toast, use real butter, not margarine... open a tin of tuna or sardines, add cucumber, lots of onion, bit of mayo... drink bottled plain water, .. keep light movements/walking daily..10-20 mins daily to keep fluids moving... learn how to massage legs yourself.... hold legs above heart when reclining...

      What ever you do , Do Not drink Anything that says DIET, Sugar Free without checking the label to see what it's sweeten with. Aspartame is part blame I truly believe why my husband is no longer here. Don't take my word look up the hazards of it what it can do to you. Just saying🙂

    I hate to admit I have somewhat of a weakness for sugar. I really don’t indulge in sugary foods much,but it’s mostly my daily coffee that I use it. Also, I drink sodas too.

    If thinking that you can't stop sugar, then you can have a ntural source of sweet by making dates paste. It's so yammy and healthy low glycemic index. Even dibetic people can have dates.
