- Levuka Fiji Independence Day Celebrations 1970. Prince Charles, representing his mother Queen Elizabeth II, was 20 years old when he arrived in Levuka, Fiji to help celebrate Fiji's Independence from Great Britain. October 10, 2020 will mark Fiji's 50th Anniversary of Independence.....Loloma bibi sara vei kemuni kece - Wing and Donna Kang. Charles III is now King of the United Kingdom and 14 other Commonwealth realms. He acceded to the throne on 8 September 2022 upon the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Just love that Fijian singing, I used to go to Methodist service in Suva on Sundays with my expat mate, who was also a lay preacher, he lectured at USP for many years, Fijian church singing is one of the finest in the Pacific. A young dashing Prince Charles too, riding in a humble Holden Kingswood, now that's a sight!. Beautiful collection of Fijian memories. I can remember Levuka being very "colonial" with the grand buildings too. Thanks Wing, well done.

Bula Chris - We both were born in Levuka, Fiji and were fortunate to grow up in this small close-knit town. There is something about this place that beckons to all who lived there - a siren call - a mystic quality that touches the heart. I will forever have fond memories of Levuka, full of character and characters. Most of all though I remember the warmth and friendliness of the people.
