Studio 24 has been open for over a decade and has helped thousands of actors pursue acting professionally. Over time, the Studio has grown into one of the largest tv/film acting studios in the state of California.
"playing" was the exact thing I did when I was an amateur theatre actor. After taking more professional acting courses and workshops, I found out quick that wouldn't fly 😬.
You know, some people can't feel anything anymore. Because they closed up. Sometimes, it's because they needed to, to stop hurting. It was my case, for 23 years (I'm 24). I began to feel human emotions just about when I got out of drama school, and it's a shame, I could've learned so much more during classes if I had back then. I think opening one's heart is the hardest thing there is. If only there was some kind of method...
Well said. May I ask which drama school you graduated from and what method they used at your drama school?
There is a method, and I was in your exact boat - now I can't STOP feeling things.
How I started was when watching a tear-jerker movie, and I feel the first millisecond urge to feel something I notice my body instantly stifle that feeling. I slowly embraced that feeling of empathy more and more. Even from 1ms to 2ms of a feeling, but slowly and surely you'll train your body that it is safe to feel. I can't help but think acting school itself closed your emotions off along with life, but who knows truly.
This is what I needed to hear. I’ve felt this at my core for so long, but didn’t know what it was but now I do.
Thank you so much, you’ve changed my acting forever
thanks studio 24. Amazing tip! It's very important to be in the moment and experience literally the emotions and tonality of the character in the moment.
Beautiful reminder. Thank you!
This was actually super helpful and meant a lot! ❤ thank you for the post! We as actors are always working on becoming the character but not allowing the character to become us! Thank you! (I think I said that right lol)
Just reading a script for an upcoming roll where I’m playing the main character that is a psychologist… it’s truly and purely about listening to my fellow actors to experience the pain and feelings.
Thanks for sharing. So valuable!
In which movie or show?
I'd love to check it out
I founs this channel and immediately subscribed, this is good stuff
Yup
This is a video i needed! I’m a voice actor but the principle applies. Thank you so much!
Great video thank you 🌸
Also to have Empathy for your character
Thank you 🤗❤️☀️🌙
Hello! Thank you for the tips!
okay how about if you got so good in experiencing that you lost yourself into the character as what I recall happened to some actors who couldn't recover the character they played (experienced)?
Authentic
Right about playing, live the moment instead. Question: what would you do if your scene partner is playing instead of experiencing? Chaos
While it would be incredible to have our scene partners on the same page, it doesn't always happen, so I can feel the pain of this scenario. I personally would try to lean more into my own inner work/experiences than what they're giving me (or rather, not giving me). For instance, I had a father and son scene in an acting class and my scene partner had less of a resemblance to my substitution than I had hoped for. However, my sub was so strong in the scene that the lack of similarity didn't negatively impact my performance. Hope that makes sense.
Stop acting start experiencing the emotion..experiencing emotion of character in the moment is great acting
Wt character wants fact nnhistory to support it.n to live in character .u have background of character

I was so into my character and their rage, my rage- I had to apologize to my reader after because I realised I was fussing at them trying to start and argument for no reason…🥹
