    CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Molly (Demi Moore) finally believes Sam (Patrick Swayze) is speaking through Oda Mae (Whoopi Goldberg) when she shares things no one else could know.
    FILM DESCRIPTION:
An interesting hybrid of popular film genres, Ghost showcases the talents of its entire cast. While out on the town one evening, New York couple Sam (Patrick Swayze) and Molly (Demi Moore) are confronted by a mugger. After submitting to his demands, Sam is murdered anyway. He then finds himself a disembodied spirit, invisible to the living world, wandering without hope until he finds a spiteful spirit aboard the subway (Vincent Schiavelli) who gives him some helpful pointers on how to co-exist. Soon Sam comes back into contact with those he knew in life, and he begins to learn piece-by-piece of his close friend and co-worker Carl's (Tony Goldwyn) embezzling plot which caused his death; the apparent mugging was, in fact, a premeditated murder. In the meantime, Carl has designs on Molly, and Sam is determined to extract revenge. He contacts a psychic (Whoopi Goldberg), and together, the two set out to serve justice and stop the maniacal Carl from getting to Molly. Blending comedy, romance, action, and horror, Ghost was a box-office smash and managed to garner five Academy Award nominations, including "Best Picture," "Best Supporting Actress" (Goldberg), "Best Original Screenplay," "Best Editing," and "Best Score"; Goldberg won her first Oscar.

Patrick was always offered the role. Whoopi wasn't even offered an audition until Patrick asked for her and he said that he wouldn't do the movie till they at least auditioned whoopi. And after she auditioned, he said if they didn't offer her the role he was out and hats what happened. This is what whoopi said on a tv interview. She said that she owes that role to Patrick as if he hadn't have fought for her to be in it she wouldn't have been. He wanted her and no one else

Just like in Mad Love (1995) with Chris O'Donnell and Drew Barrymore, right near the end when we see tears pour down Matt's(O'Donnell's)face as he and Casey(Barrymore) give each other a hug and say goodbye just before she is admitted to the mental hospital--for anyone who's ever seen that movie as well you have to admire the way Chris really got into his character, so much to the point of being moved by tears flowing down his face, just as Demi was here.

I think the main reason why Molly didn't believe that Sam was trying to communicate through Oda Mae at first was because of grief. When he died the pain of his death hit her hard and later finding out that his best friend Carl was behind the whole thing shook her up. However after seeing that penny move up the door and then over to her hand she finally realized that everything that Oda Mae was telling her was true and that Sam had been there the whole time.

    • @-breakofdawn-

I think two things make it extra hard to believe in this case. 1. The fact that faith has been slowly but surely widely eliminated in modern day society by ridiculing it and propagating science as the one and only thing to trust and believe in. Which not only is garbage, but having lost their faith, people are much easier to scare and manipulate than people who believe. It’s hard to convert them back. I think this is one of the biggest topics in this movie - the return to faith. All of the main characters believe in the end, but most of them struggle to get there, like Molly.
      2. I wouldn’t say grief is the reason for her lack of faith, but rather the fear of rekindled hope being destroyed again. Like that police officer said, most people WANT to believe, especially those who are grieving and vulnerable. But they are afraid of being hurt all over again.

When this movie premiered I was 24, working my first career-related job. I went to it three times. About a decade or so later I'm working another career-related job, after a five-year hiatus. I sing "Unchained Melody" at a neighborhood bar's karaoke night. After I finish, this 60-ish woman motions me over, clasps her hands around mine, and explains that her husband of 30 years recently died of cancer. And that was their song. And thanked me for singing it. I'll never forget that.

This movie is relative to my life and nature. My wife and I enjoyed watching this movie together its a love thing anyways. So I was researching about a 1943 penny about a week ago. I found out its extremely rare to find a genuine 1943 penny. So I told her if she ever found 1 to keep it. Less then a week goes by and I decided to watch the movie again as I'm out of state visiting. Well if you pause the movie as Sams lifting up the Penny to show Molly you should study the penny and see what year is it from!!!! Yes that's right 1943... Anyways my best friend just lost somebody close so long story short. I sent her a picture of the penny and told her its for luck from Sam and I. & I had explained the whole thing. My prayer and heart goes out to anybody who lost somebody close.

Some films are so good, so brought to life by the actors you'd swear it was all fly on the wall. This is one of those films where everyone was so on point, so emotionally connected to their characters it's just felt so real - ironic, for a movie called Ghost. Incredible.

This is the greatest love movie of all time...and 1990 was the time for it to exist...love is such a powerful element it conquers everything it changes you to be better and when you love your beliefs are stronger than ever....this is the best part of the movie hands down.words just cant explain how it feels when someome finally believes or accepts something when they are shown....even though he's dead and she couldn't bring him back...just knowing that he's been with her all this time even after death and that he still exist just breaks my heart every time I see this....I can never touch you again or feel you but i can only see you I will be with you until I go to heaven leaving you alone with new found hope that we will reunite in heaven in much happier place together at last forever.😢😢😢😢

My first lover died when we were both young- I always felt like he was with me, watching out for me in some way.

It’s one thing to push or poke and another to pick up and hold a pen and write. He did write Boo on the mirror, yes, but that didn’t require fine motor skills which I suppose would be so much harder to perform using your mind than gross motor skills.
