Motorcycle ride through the highlands of ICELAND [S4 - E2]

- August 31st, 2022: What an eventful day this was!
I started my day at Skjöldólfsstadir Guesthouse and rode straight to the beginning of my 4km hike to Studlagil Canyon. It was every bit as stunning as I had imagined! I continued my ride via road F907 to Sænautasel Turf House in the Icelandic highlands, a really unique spot to have delicious pancakes and coffee for lunch. Continuing along Möðrudalsleið to Fjallakaffi, which is the cafe/guesthouse in Iceland located at the highest altitude (469 meters above sea level). The wind really picked up at this point! I fought my way riding sideways to Námaskarð, a geothermal area close to Myvatn, where I camped and enjoyed a really nice sunset that evening.
This day gave me SO many impressions, and I had so much fun! I hope you enjoy my video from this day - even though it is quite noisy from all the wind.

Hello Runa. Thank you for taking us with you. Amazing drone footage through that canyon with the river and amazing rock formations. I would never see sights like that if it were not for the efforts of wonderful people like yourself who make us a part of your adventures. Stay safe always and thank you for what you give to people like me who cannot do anymore what you do and travel to places we will never see in person. Lovely sunset scenery at the end too.

Love the quality of your drone footage. Thank you for sharing the Mývatn sunset - I witnessed this amazing light over the lake during an 11pm hike in 2018, not far from where you camped but my dodgy iPhone 5s battery died before I could capture it!!

I went to Island on a Motorcycle in 1992. Did travel to Island with boat from Norway (Bergen). Love to share your adventure. It bring back a lot of nice (and not so nice) memories. Thanks for sharing.

Sometimes the wind is terribly strong and riding a motorcycle becomes dangerous. I had the opportunity to check it and it really scares. You are a very brave woman.

Veldig kjekt å følga deg på denne turen også :) Tilbake i 2017 kjørte eg Island rundt (med bil) og det er så fint å sjå att plassar eg var innom då. Hugsar spesielt Myvatn og området rundt - lyset var heilt spektakulært då eg var der! MC-tur på Island står definitivt på bucket-lista - og då skal eg få med meg den nord-vestre delen også satsar eg på.

Lots of old lava fields! It runs from the volcano and over time becomes large rock beds.

These are the only roads Noraly rides! I'm sure you've seen her videos, she's ruthless! The Octagon pillars you saw is lava coming up through water.

What an adventure!! Going back this year? Wouldn’t surprise me! Wish I had the guts to go for such an adventure myself! Will probably settle for new adventures here in Norway for the foreseeable future, but will not rule out Iceland entirely. Thankful that you share your experiences with us! 🙏🏻🏍️🤟🏻

Thank you Tor! 😄 Luckily, "settling" for Norway is not so bad 😁 I never get tired of riding in Norway either, will probably do several more weeks here this summer. I will definitely go back to Iceland sometime too, but not this year I don't think 😊
