Incredible...gives me the sound of those old knuckleheads...the way they would have sounded 71 years ago. It can still hold its own in traffic. Love watching the gear shifting and seeing the springer move up and down. Great!
I love these videos, I am a disabled veteran and former rider. These videos bring back fond memories of my days in the wind! Thank you! Keep up the good work!
Wow... what a nice ride ! One of the best "Riding videos" that I've ever seen. Turn the sound up, go into fullscreen, sit back and enjoy... Thank you Mr. Otsuka and greetings from germany.
Amazing how the Harleys kept their DNA, this bike doesn’t feel different from a current Harley, at least with the Evo engine. Fantastic that this bike can ride safely at normal traffic pace on today’s roads, thank you for sharing!
Well speed Limits are pretty low in japan compared to other countries. The expressway speed limit is 80-100kmh so about 50-60 mph, some straight two lane roads mostly outside of cities and some main traffic routes are 50kmh (30mph), but most normal roads in and around cities are 30-40kmh (20-25mph). To be honest, that’s the reason I bought myself a Harley here. You have all the power you need to have a good time on the road, but when you twist the noise tube you don’t get locked up in jail in an instant. Does not mean they can’t go fast, but a relaxed speed is somehow preferred by me when I sit on a Harley. Mine is not quite as old as the one in this Video tho „2012 FXS 96ci“ and the sound differs a lot between a twin cam and a knuckle head. I still love it tho ✌️
KuruMoto i agree. Compared to most motorbikes which need to be driven at illegal speeds to procure excitement, Harleys offer an interesting experience even at legal speeds
Takes me back. My first Harley was a 39 Knuck EL that I bought in 1970. Mine was a three speed with reverse cause the original owner had a sidecar on it. I was the second owner but I didn't get the sidecar. He'd already sold it before I bought the bike. Sure wish I still had it.
I salute Harley Davidson and the individual(s) involved for keeping that classic motorcycle road worthy. Having stated that, I for one am grateful that the method of shifting gears has evolved to what we have today.
Mr. Otsuka. You are living one of my dreams, to own and ride a pre-war EL. Greetings from the state of Iowa, USA. Come for a visit sometime and we will go ride. P.S. I like the way riders in Japan get the old iron out and ride them, you have my respect. Cheers!
@SarkyBegger what? You are reading way to much into this, and ASMR has been around sence at least 2011 so it isnt new at all. I also don't know what you mean by "self imposed overly regulated lives", I dont think that many young people are lost and living meaningless lives. I can only assume that you are a sad person past your prime so you take out your frustrations and failures in life on people younger than you.
Now that is " Real Steel". I love that when sitting at an idle there is no detectable vibration in the mirrors. They truly don't make em like they used to. Awesome.
this motorcycle (Knucklehead) is my biggest dream in life. It will never be fulfilled, but I have come to terms with it. Greetings from Poland from an old vintage biker. I've been coming back to this video for years. Thank you!
Nice one.. This one has a soul.! Good that someone hasnt ruined it! I always encourage people to keep the original paint job with their machines. It just gets better.
you can buy a complete kit from V TWIN..or you used to be able to ,it costs about as much as a new Harley and you have to assemble it your self..its a running replica..I knew a guy that built one for his shop on display it was very cool!
I agree, perhaps my favorite ride, on my favorite bike, on the entire internet, so far. So relaxing, so informative, and all without one word of English. Well done!!
Sweet! Enjoyed the Ride Along! Just wished you'd walked around the bike when you got off of it and give us a visual. Next best thing to being there! Do some more ride-alongs!
This is absolutely Brilliant, what fun, thanks, I lost my bikes in an ugly divorce but lost a lunatic too. What a strong beautiful bike. ICON should build some.
I believe on a old Harley like this you gotta let off the throttle every once in a while. If you wot all the way you might blow the engine, letting off the throttle allows oil to circulate and lubricate the engine once it has made its cycle. Please correct me if I’m wrong. I’m also working on my first bike, a 1964 xlh 900 can’t wait to finish and ride that thing. It’s a chopper. Greetings from Austin tx.
This is ONE OF THE BEST VIDEO I EVER SEEN! From Italy with all my respect and my personal congratulations (I am a mechanic) thank you very much to bring me with you on the saddle! I’ll wait for you in Italy, or maybe, I’ll search for you in Japan, that is one of my next project of journey
Simply fantasc. Your video is quite inspiring. It's fun to see an old Harley active. His style is in line with is incredible machine. Always drive safely. All the best.
My dad had a 39 harley when he started dating my mother god they must have been so cool riding around on it in 1956

The sound of the engine pure enjoyment to my ears.
The sound of a Harley purring down the road, whether a 1938 or 2020 - noting like it like others said, relaxing and hypnotic.
I love these videos, I am a disabled veteran and former rider. These videos bring back fond memories of my days in the wind! Thank you! Keep up the good work!

I found this video very satisfying and relaxing. I like the gear shifter.
Jockey shift, suicide clutch with a mousetrap
@Jamie Mills sure can be yep you can make em sometimes generic term is all
Thanks for taking me on the ride, brother! Now, it's out to the shop to work on my 47FL / 51 sidecar.
history on wheels...great
Blue skies green lights that's music to my ears. What a ride.
It's like riding in fantasy. Those classics are legends.
You've captured the sound of the bike very well. Nice patina, original paint and chrome.
Love seeing classics on the road being ridden.
Agreed. Putting them in a garage to be looked at is a waste. Classics need their story told.
Amazing how the Harleys kept their DNA, this bike doesn’t feel different from a current Harley, at least with the Evo engine. Fantastic that this bike can ride safely at normal traffic pace on today’s roads, thank you for sharing!

vincent beijing if you want to hear the difference, I got my first Video uploaded which is similar to this one but with a bit more modern Harley
I was expecting to see the witch from the wizard of oz pass him on her bicycle. These bikes are beautiful not fast.

That engine was tuned to THE SOUND OF PERFECTION
13 minutes and it felt like I was riding it all along, love the sound
I like the way he sped up and passed the other riders...kind of showing off...nice! "Hey, look what I"m riding!"
How can one NOT like this little video?! Thanks for bringing us along!
I salute Harley Davidson and the individual(s) involved for keeping that classic motorcycle road worthy. Having stated that, I for one am grateful that the method of shifting gears has evolved to what we have today.
sue a side shifturr
My great grandfather owned one of these brand new in 1939. Thank you for the video, I can now imagine what it would have been like to ride with him

Fantastic video, the camera position is perfect. Not anyone else who has filmed from that position.
You could tell it was going to be an awesome video the second he pulled out those gloves.
True, that was a good sign.
Now that's a REAL Harley. Nice patina too !
This is real amsr video for me 😂

Great old Harley sound. You just cannot beat it!

THX for your Video, no speech no music pure sound :-) wonderful original bike.
The guys in the 1930's had it great, this is a great piece of history, love it🙏💜
こんな貴重なバイクの動画が見られるなんて幸せです。
Glad your enjoying your bike instead of sitting in a museum thanks so much
this motorcycle (Knucklehead) is my biggest dream in life. It will never be fulfilled, but I have come to terms with it. Greetings from Poland from an old vintage biker. I've been coming back to this video for years. Thank you!
It's awesome, this rusty speedometer, headlight and everything. I'm excited.
Wow. Inspite of being so old, it's going very smoothly.
This is why I love Motörhead : same sound as the Harley engine.
Nice one.. This one has a soul.! Good that someone hasnt ruined it! I always encourage people to keep the original paint job with their machines. It just gets better.
Thanks I always wanted to ride an old Harley .I can knock that off the bucket list.
Wonderful machine!
Thank you , I enjoyed the ride🤠
Awesome to see this old machine drive
I always loved the sound of harley
I finally got to ride a 39 Knuckle, thank's man...
Thank you for uploading this. Riding vicariously on this wonder was a treat. Long live the "ol' piece of junks". 💙 from France.
Great ride remembering the ones on the 62 Panhead, back in 1975, thanks for the ride
Parádní zvuk motoru, luxusní historik i stím orlojem na nádrži. Kdo na něj jednou sedne je navždy polapen.
Perfect exhaust notes on those vintage H-D motos. Bushido Code - Hai!
WOW great video. Gives me a glimpse of what it was like when my grandpa when for a ride. Thanks
Reatoring a '39 EL for a customer right now. Painting the tanks today. Can't wait for the first ride.
what a great bike. love the shifter!! and foot clutch!
Very nice thank you so much for the ride.
What a fantastic machine! Sure don't build them like that anymore. Loved the video!
they do, it just cost 50 grand...
Rick Bernst your right. they do not build them like that anymore. if you want it the way they used to build them you got to buy them pre 1969
you can buy a complete kit from V TWIN..or you used to be able to ,it costs about as much as a new Harley and you have to assemble it your self..its a running replica..I knew a guy that built one for his shop on display it was very cool!
YES, AGREE ALL THE WAY. I KEEP WONDERING IF I'LL EVER GET THE OPPORTUNITY TO RIDE ONE.

So I’m a big fan
Thank you. I finally rode a vintage Knuck.
I agree, perhaps my favorite ride, on my favorite bike, on the entire internet, so far. So relaxing, so informative, and all without one word of English. Well done!!
Soooo relaxing... Calming ride... As though I was driving
Would have been nice to get a proper look at the bike at the end of the video...
The engine and the gears sounds so smouth though.
Somebody loves and maintains this baby.... lovely sound.....
A good walk around would’ve been good.
@@catdaddy3302 I was wishing for that also.
shut up
GREAT sounding 39 Knucklehead. I knew a guy that had a fully restored 47 Knuckle that he rode once in a while. It sounded pretty healthy.
What a sweet running time machine, i will take this over any shiny modern poser bike!
absolutely stunning, probably as close as i will ever get to riding my dream bike, thank you so much for sharing this video!
Ride a 1997 Sportster XL883 with Cycle Shack pipes. She will sound just like this. :')
Sweet! Enjoyed the Ride Along! Just wished you'd walked around the bike when you got off of it and give us a visual. Next best thing to being there! Do some more ride-alongs!
Awesome bike man. Antique motorcycle are the best.
Great riding video! Beautiful bike!
Great audio recording of a beautiful sounding vintage machine.
Great exhaust note, and I don't know why but vintage iron brings a different, deeper sensation of riding or driving.
I love it.
Love watching the springer fork work!
That brought tears to my eyes
Phillip Scott amen brother

Holy cow! The controls are from another world!
Nice to see an original old bike like that getting some road time.
Thanks for the ride sir.
Smoother than a new Harley
For its condition it runned pretty smooth. GOOD WORK
Beautiful bike in a beautiful country. Thank you for sharing this 👍
To think 80 years ago the first buyer took this beauty for it's first ride. That person must be smiling down, it still runs like new..Thanks
Looks like something out of a steampunk fantasy. I love it.
This is ONE OF THE BEST VIDEO I EVER SEEN! From Italy with all my respect and my personal congratulations (I am a mechanic) thank you very much to bring me with you on the saddle!

Finally a Harley I wouldn't be ashamed to be seen on.

Very restful. Bowling along at about 50. Superb
I have a 2017 softail, but would also love an old harley like this, such a cool look and sound, love the patina .
patina= rust and pitted metal from many years of neglect and sitting uncared for. nothing to love about that.
