Andy Kirby installs a Grin Phaserunner controller on my Vapour full suspension ebike. Full settings overview and test ride! For business enquiries email - dudestuffuk@gmail.com
Great video guys! Andy has been a big inspiration to me when building my Ultra bike. I'm currently designing a true plug and play kit using the bac855 that supports the factory hall, torque and temp sensors if either of you are interested!
Yeah 1st in the world as far as I am aware. Will look forward to showing people the kit once it's ready. There 100% are Hall sensors in the motor it just requires them to be properly connected to. It needs wiring work and multi meters but it can be done.
Great content guys she's alive alright with some of Andy's software tweaks. She goes up the hill no problem and if anybody tries to pinch her they will get a shock if they come off. Stay safe Guys I'm looking forward to a head to head if you do one with the Mid motor v the Hub would be interesting especially now.
This was a great video Steve - a lot of people just want some over the counter thing that just works out of the box, but if you want to push the envelope and build your own bespoke bike you have to experiment! At the end of the day it's your own personal build and it's great when you get it right!!!! Informative - and a good laugh!
Should have just bought the Ludicrous controller from LunaCycles. It is a direct swap from the factory one, except it ups the output to 3000w. Been running mine for more than a year with no issues. No muss no fuss. No wire mess, fits where the factory one is. No programming guessing. Dont need to upgrade to 72v, you keep your 52v pack. It just allows for up to 50A instead of the factory 25A. I tried the phaserunner AND the Ludicrous. I sold the phaserunner, so........................you can guess which one I prefer. You also get to keep all your features. And since the motor is stamped for power rating, there is almost no way to know the bike is over powered.
I'm glad you mentioned about cutting the throttle when changing gear.👍I was like wtf snapped chain or no teeth on gears ,excellent work it moves pretty quick 😊👍
Hi from Melbourne Australia I like your channel mate I have a 500 watt bafang it goes 42km on a flat road but after seeing this I'm going to sell my gt with 500 wat kit on and upgrade 😊
This can be done with the 1000w bafang cant it, Just got myself a bad ass carrera hellcat lmt edition, Was getting hub but knowing the 1000w got crazy torque for what it is an you can still use gears on the back, Cant wait to get the bafang week after tho...
Hello mate I got the same set up I’ve messed around with the setting and can’t seem to get it back to how it was have u got a shop that I could bring the bike to
Hi Andy. Bought a 1000w y-20 on AliExpress that in fact is just a jumble of miss matched parts. 18 ah battery. To add insult to injury if it has a 1000w some one is dreaming. Then coast at any speed and display says your stopped. I usually cycle with a friend and can keep pace on my 750w and hills are fairly ok for me. But on this so called 1000w even on level I can’t keep up. So AliExpress suggested I get 100 euro refund and keep bike. Or full refund but I have to ship bike back to them at my expense. To Singapore at over half the cost of bike. Now I’m in a quandary. Replace controller and display. Open up motor to check internals and repair the bike. PayPal has been little help. Even though I purchased the bike from Belgium they also say I have to ship to Singapore at my expense to get a refund. We’re in fact I did not like bike that request holds some water but but but Bike is not as described and faulty and I’m to suffer financially. Hope in time you can recommend some reliable suppliers. Rant over Cheers
I believe the controller has heat rejection problems, when you had the screen record on phaserunner it showed fast thermal increase. You need an active heat sink on the controller.
@@vm2003 the controller is not in the mid motor in this case, it's that little tiny black box on the back of the seatpost as it's not the original controller
Hello Steve I have a question for you or Andy I've got a BBSHD running at the moment 48v battery 16ah with Samsung now I know the standard controller can take up to 30 amp would I be pushing the battery too much if I set the controller to the max at the moment running 24amps any advice would be much appreciated 👍
I know I should have bought a donkey, but no……I had to buy an ebike and be cool 😎. I could have bought a donkey and be out panning for gold. Darn it! 🤨
You put throttle on the front brake side ....reason been is you want your fingers over back break at all times .....The front brake is secondary brake ...use that once speed low enough ... If you have throttle on back brake side you can not hover fingers on the brake and use power .....it even more evident harder with twist ...why that matters is your reaction time to stop is much slower
you can cover both brakes easy enough .front brake should be aplied withback brake and aplied harder than rhe back brake ,shifting youre weight back over the back of the seat .

Nice troubleshooting. That bikes is beautiful
I've just bought a Phaserunner, this has encouraged me to dig deeper into the settings 👍🏻
Does the phaserunner make that much difference on 72V?
Awesome video steve enjoyed watching again 👍
Now this was some wicked riding it has lots of power now.
Looking forward to this one after seeing Andy’s vid .

Except you can get 5kW out of the Phaserunner so no.
I was looking around and couldn't find a Ludicrous controller for the m620, are you sure you are not thinking of the one for the bbshd?
Can get 1 anywhere now,,or not that I can find...anyone know where to get it or the phaserunner
The bike is running good now mate

I folded over the freewheel 1st gear with the bafang bbshd!

Running out of steam on really steep hill and starting to roll back will make you feel like an old man in 1 second.
Its terrifying.
You need to put a gear sensor on it so it won't damage the sprocket
Is this software good for my G510 Ultra on my Frey AM1000?
Amazing power want one. Do you have to remove factory controller before putting on phase runner.
Yes and you can not revert back. So unless your controller faulty like both Steve and Andy was there's no point in doing so for moment I would say.
grim phaserunner controller which website can i buy from.
What bike is that ?
funny entertaining and informative thanks guy's

Try 40 up to 60 and map out the flat maximum speed

Where to get a heat sink for the Ultra or any mid drive motor controller for that matter?

30 amp won't begin to hurt that motor. It will drain your battery quicker
50 amp running through my bbshd,no issues 2 yrs later.
@@dereks8930 How did you increase amps on stock controller?
is it that hard to install hall sensors on the coil somewhere inside that :?
sorry i do diligence afterwards, ill take it back now. its all that proprietary new stuff in there.....
I used a modifies bbshd hall board.
Where can I buy the 2500 watt bafang mid drive
It's an m620 ultra 1000w tuned with a phaserunner controller. Andy Kirby sells them when the supply has stock
