If I were JJ I'd ask for Assist Coach for 2 seasons get acclimated and then ask for that head coaching job for the Lakers
Experience, Leadership, Game management skills,ability to make on the fly adjustments, last but not least a coach that is not afraid to mix things up because they see something that works and choose to explore it more even in big moments. If we can get atleast 80% of that in a coach then I’m in.
Zero culture with the extreme turnover of Lakers coaches, you get a year or so to win a championship, then it’s on to the next bloke

This is probably one of the worse coaching jobs to take in the league rn and that’s crazy. Rookie coach or not, taking a slightly above average team with championship hopes is a terrible position to be put in.

I’m hyped at all about this team, front office, star players or nothing. This the first time in a very long time since I been careless for the Lakers. I think it doesn't matter if it's an experienced coach or assistant or a first timer, it's the Lakers and whoever is the coach they are going to get highly criticized because of the recent history of a revolving door of coaches and frankly its because its the Lakers. People just want drama for this team because it's ratings and $$$. I know there's a lot of sides to this, just IMHO I just have a positive feeling about JJ, just a gut feeling that he could be our long term guy. Rob should be the one also under the microscope (aka hot seat 🔥) and an overhaul of front office staffing and how they operate. Keep coach K as permanent front office staff.

Didn't we clean house on assistants too? Can't we just hire a safe choice with experience and give JJ the assistant coaching job. The timing of that Brian Windhorst quote about how LeGM didn't get involved in coaching searches should have been a gossamer hint.
The speculation that he was in Cleveland to "scout" along with the Bronnie James stuff means that all pretense is gone.
It wouldn't be a surprise if the Lakers were the ones that put yeast in the fable that Bronnie had morphed into a 1st rounder.
Lakers experimented with half cooked Darvin Ham, and now they are going to experiment with uncooked JJ.
Sure hiring JJ is a risk but so is hiring anyone else. Doesn’t matter if they have experience or not. Every coaching hire or player signed or traded for is a risk. Lets all just see how this off season plays out and support the new coach and the team.

U guys ever think maybe the lakers have issues hiring a coach with how tough this fan base is ? Reddick might literally be one of the only solid options they have.
JJ Reddick/ Sam Cassell are the coaches of the Lakers, they are more knowledgeable of the game than any of the current candidates that have been considered. They are your coach that will take the team far into the future as well as a minimal contract initially. They will manage the locker room along with input from veterans LeBron and AD; they are players coachs and understands the needs of there coaching staff. We need two real bigs, Valanciunas/Drumond/Dwight ( ie 2020 chip) along side AD, we need a six man, Dramond/Bobby Portes etc. We need a two way guard to manage Jamall Murry and Anthony Edwards.... Demar/Donavan/Caruso/Keli Ubrea/Marcus Smart/JaMonte Murray/Brogden/Bones Hyland . We have the assets, the picks and the money to make this happen. Doc Rivers, Ty Lou, , Chauncey Billups had no direct coaching e

I am looking at everyone blaming the front office, but when Lebron and AD are not willing to take less money, it is hard to bring in players. I think Rob has done a good job with the money he has to spend. Lebron wants players to come play with him but wants them to take less instead of him sacrificing, so I am not going to play Rob. Players need to play better when they are getting max money.
The only reason the Clippers haven’t given a new contract to Tyronn Lue is because they are waiting for the lakers to sign a new coach, so they can offer anything and then he would have no choice but to stay with the clippers.

If you want your coach to succeed, build a good team. Doesn't matter who they hire if the roster is bad. The other issue i have is alot of fans are too worried about the future. You have to build for winning right now.

JJ Redick has the look of a Laker coach and it's funny you would mention Pat Riley because that's exactly who I compared him to. But like you said, he doesn't have any experience that's what frightens me about him. Granted he was a solid player and can shoot the heck out of the ball and those are the kinds of guys who make the best coaches not the superstars with the exception of Bill Russell and Larry Bird of course. He did also graduate from Duke, which is in his favor, and was an understudy to Coach K.
The person who was working with and helping them to get better, they got rid of, Phil Handy. They messed up letting him go 🤔

It’s funny tht yall think JJ will have so much pressure and trouble in the spotlight bcs he hasn’t been a head coach but think these assistants tht r under other great coaches and apart of unbelievable teams will just seamlessly transition and be perfect. The same way tht we don’t how JJ will handle these things is the same way we don’t know how they will. Then to say tht it most likely won’t work out. My question is wat is working out for a coach. Coaches r not ever usually comfortable in there seat. There is always coaches moving in and out. Trev said 8-10 JJ won’t work out. Did Vogel work out. Did ham work out. Wat about Walton and all the other coaches since Phil. And do tht same thing with every team in the league. This is wat it is. Hiring a coach is a gamble every time bcs so much goes into being a successful coach and a lot of times coaches don’t even make it through there contract.

JJ would be great assistant coach for the Lakers, but there is no sure thing. I am confident that Reddick could draw up a complex plays. There is no perfect situation, playing the odds - gambling... None of the rest of th coaches have surprise or wow me.
