Thank you for providing us with this fascinating video along with your photographs. It really was an amazing railway station with 14 platforms and apparently the busiest in the world during 1911! The Central station was also the scene of Blackpool's worse tragedy of 1941, where a number of people lost their lives after two aircraft collided- resulting in one ( Botha L6509 ) crashing through the entrance hall of Central station. The other aircraft involved was a Defiant-( formation flying ). The tragedy resulted in more civilian casualties than all the ww2 raids along the Fylde coast!

Great vlog, love the way you merge old and new pictures into one, sad that central station shut in favour of the North Station, heard so many stories of its closure, 1 being that beeching wanted to shut the North Station in favour of retaining the central station, but Blackpool Council wanted Central Station to shut

I remember the lads with Sack Trollies waiting for holiday makers to exit the Station. It had about 14 platforms and the public came out in their thousands. The lads with their trollies would take families and their luggage to their boarding hoses by foot.
