I love all the information you’ve given over the years. Your knowledge on all things cooking, baking, grilling, smoked, etc. has been a godsend. I really appreciate the effort of everyone on your staff. Keep up the good work.
Good to mention that ATK also recommends the AmazonBasics silpat:
"The mats in this inexpensive set are nearly identical to our winner, fitting perfectly in our favorite baking sheet and staying put nicely, thanks to a relatively heavy weight. It helped foods cook and brown well; because it's dishwasher-safe, it retained fewer odors and became less greasy over time than non-dishwasher-safe models we tested."
These aren’t dishwasher safe!
I love this channel. Thank you for the product tests and reviews. Before I purchase anything for the kitchen I swing by the channel. I grew up waiting test kitchen when I was a young girl on PBS..
Love these equipment reviews. Thanks
I think your video is GREAT!! You answered all my questions in less than 2 minutes… THANK YOU! 💜😊
I just bought a 9x13 original Silpat online through Lazada and it was less than $4.50 shipped to Bangkok. Can't wait to try it.
Do you buy original De marle brand?
@@hobojump7651 Does it have to be an original De marle brand to work? I have now tried it on biscuits, Scottish shortbread cookies, peanut butter cookies, and pecan pralines and it works as advertized and so much better than curly parchment paper.
@@RaymondCore Nah i never have experience with any silpat brands, just want to make sure 🤣
Not enough info. Your fav? What were the runner's up? Do the others allow them to be put in the dishwasher... how, exactly DO you put them in the dishwasher?
They put that information on their website and sometimes in their magazine. They only provide the winner(s) for free on CZcams.
I love the show !! Thank you so much.
Silpats are great. I own a half-dozen of them. I've only had to replace one-my first one...after about 12 years of use.
We're using your cookbook for our Emeryll air fryer. They are great, love to see more.
Woukd have been nice to hear 2nd and 3rd choice since sil-pat are on the expensive side. Also what are some pros and cons of the other choices such as the “amazon Choice” since that is a common purchase.
My first insight into silicon baking mats, some arrived with the product I bought but without instructions., Thank you, quick to point, and no background music to make the dialogue unintelligible... :) Thumbs up
i enjoy using mine with a caramel glaze for a decadent french toast - never disappoints cleans like magic ... worth every nickel
Give us the best poor man’s choice as well!
The Amazon Basics ones are really good I've found. 2 for $14
lightdark00 aliexpress it’s called oil paper like $2 it’s legit. But really I’ve got beautiful silicone, silicone with fiberglass, perforated silicone mats on Ali for very cheap.
"if one can afford an oven one can also afford a silicone dilmaro saupac us baking sheet"
I agree with the Amazon 2-pack. I found an ATK review of Amazon products that found the Amazon mats were as good as the brand name. They also come with outlines for macarons if you want.
Amazon has a brand that I bought and I also have a silpat. Sorry I disagree with ATK, for the money Amazon brand is just as good.
I just bought one. I dont know if it was that brand as it was part of a sheet pan kit but it looked the same.
First batch of cookies came out fine.
Thanks, Lisa!
They have more use than baking! - Cushion and stabilize your cutting board (don't use nasty wet towels especially on wood end-grain). Cover a cake with one. Jar opener, insulator for grabbing something hot, chocolate drizzles, and chocolate covered fruits and other melted candies, or flash freezing fruit. Fat free roasted potatoes. Cheese cups, fruit roll-ups, and more!

I love ATK. So much in fact that I joined.
But I'm a little upset about paying for membership and getting full page pop-up ads(literally the most hated form of ads there is) for products on your site.
One of the reasons I pay for sites is to not have advertisements that I have to waste my time clicking away.
Not sure I'll be renewing my subscription TBH.
I agree! I can't stand those. Also a subscriber.
Yes. It is especially galling when you go there and try to search for a recipe, or whatever, and as you are typing, their damn ad pops up and interrupts your writing.
Thanks for the warning! I definitely won't be paying for any membership, then. What a joke! That's like paying for cable TV, and every channel is an infomercial, or constant commercial breaks.
ATK is awesome, but their marketing practices are all very last-century and they refuse to update them.
For example, they'll tell you that your subscription will be automatically renewed, but the only way to figure out the price is to call them. What year is this?
The pushy advertising is also really unacceptable for a paid service.
@@hxhdfjifzirstc894 I've been a subscriber to the magazine and now the Web sites for more than 20 years, and I think it's money well spent. I just now logged on to the ATK Web site after reading this, and I didn't get any "full page pop-up ads for products." I wonder if it depends on what platform one is using to access the site, and if the ads are coming from ATK or from the ISP. ATK prides itself on not allowing advertising of products they review.
Last confection ( rolling pin logo) slip mats on Ebay. 3 for 11$ been using for over a year and no problems.
You nailed it this time.
I brought one with no instructions I didn't know that I could use hot candy fudge to put on the mat to cool them off thank you
It would be good to know the reasons they rated the much more expensive silicone baking sheet as better.
Because, they said, it fit.
Great topic, but not the best video. I didn't think it gave enough info. I didn't feel like you compared the mats against each other or to parchment paper enough. I'm especially looking for tips on how to use silicon mats better.
I am curious which produced the better roasted potatoes: the unmatted metal baking tray, or the silpat-lines one?
Enjoy the product reviews, learn a better product for use in kitchen. Keep ‘em coming!
good info!
Can use these like you would foil? Are they easy to wash? I guess I’d need to find mats for each pan size I have. Hmm. Trying to use less foil.
Your advice is my goto
I just bought the amazon brand. How do you store these things?
Is the 24 size Cooke scoop a good size?
Do you recommend a silicone mat for pizza on a pizza steel? ATK's highly rated parchment sheets are now $25 for 100 half sheets but $10 shipping on the King Arthur site and out of stock on Amazon.
would love to see you guys test and pick the best garlic press

I've thought about buying one of these but unsure if a silicone baking mat, parchment paper or greasing a sheet produces the best results. I have a 19x13ish and a 12x8ish cooking surface. (Big and quarter sheets. No half sheet.) 🤔 I generally use nothing.
I tried baking cookies with one, actually several times I tried. End result, comments from the family about what did I do? They didn’t like the texture. I don’t know if the different mats have a different result, I’d doubt it to be truthful. I went back to parchment paper in the kitchen and the silicone mats went away.
Was it rubbery or crunchy or?
is it with little holes as a sieve
?
Just got some for the first time for the family, and my sister had some worries about the guide designs printed onto them, she is worried it is ink and will somehow get into our food, my guess is that it's a different color of silicone directly printed on. Does anyone know how it's actually done? The concern arose when we found some of the pattern had transferred onto the pack of the previous sheet while it was rolled up and sent to us.
How about giving us the names of the other mats that you tested? Maybe we have one in our kitchen and wouldn’t want it if we knew it was sub par. Or perhaps we would like the second best choice? Maybe someone doesn’t have $22 to spend on one baking mat??
Did you click thr drop-down arrow at the very top?
More mats are there.
@@mddell58 People complaining about free content that is easily available to them, and yet they still complain
ATK isn't a CZcams channel, they have a CZcams channel. This isn't how they make their money, it's just to get a little extra on the side.
If you want full reviews, join their site. It's not that expensive.
What is the best pizza stone to bake with? Can you compare baking stone with baking steel? Thank you.
Pretty sure they did the pizza stone already.
Doesn't work with bacon but it does do a great job with "baked pancakes" I love mine, different brand but works fantastic.
can i cut the silpat to fit the tray?
luv u lisa
If she doesn't respond. Remember I love you.
Amazon's Basics @ $14 for 2 or $7/ea are 100% just as good!
And how did you rate the other options?
Link to winning product in the description leads to a mat more than 2x the price at the time of the video (2.5 yrs ago). $44 [$50 less a generous 12% discount]. At that price I could buy enough disposable parchment paper to last me the life of the mat before it’d need replacing.
I love my silpat mats I bought two silpat silicone matts in December for $10 each on Amazons lightning deals (sold by amazon not a third-party seller). And, this year I bought two Silpat macaroon mats for $14 each.
I was expecting some comparisons of the non baking mats and ones with
My mother just got me silicone mat cuz I just got into baking I came here because I wanted to check to see if I put it on a tray or the oven itself
Can the Silpat go in the dishwasher?
Honestly, we used parchment paper on very few items in our handcraft bake shop. For example, full sheets of brownies, jelly rolls and specific cookies macaroon cookies come to mind. I bake pretty much everything at home…one tiny pan at a time now..and never seem to need parchment paper. Why bother?
What would be the difference or preference of Silicone baking sheets versus parchment paper?
Wash and use again over and over. Tip: use one exclusively for cookies.
Parchment paper does work better for some recipes, especially baking. Sometimes things spread more than intended on a silicone mat. Other times they may work equally well, or the slicker and even more stick-resistant silicone mat may even work better than parchment. It really depends what you're using it for.
I hv just purchased one from amazon.in(India).I rolled Indian wheat parathas over it.we shallow fry on a hot girdle but it's sticking to surface.Even the taste is not good.Help me. what could be the reason ?Where is the fault?
Never knew my Silpat Mats could be put in the dishwasher! SCORE!
Yes amazon basics are just as good as demarle silpats. And they also tested the entire amazon basics kitchenware.
Silpat is 90$ in Canada
You should let us know what brands your testing. I can never watch these videos because I don’t know what y’all are really doing or using
Yes, I was so disappointed in this video
What if my pan is too small?
Not enough info given.
How to prepare before first use.
How to clean them.
Do they have an order when new or after times used...
Storage instructions...can they be stored rolled up and still maintain a flat cook space when needed.
Can we roll chapati on it
Keep introducing endocrine disruptors in your foods via platics😂
I'm going to order me one to make vegan rice paper bacon and purple yam sticky rice inside decorative ring molds
I just clicked on the link to Amazon and the price is showing as $66!!
Yeah I know right darn price gougers
Just go to the store and buy one.
How do silicon sheets do with bacon?
It's hard to get all the bacon grease off. Last time I used it for this purpose I had to handwash three (3!) times to get all the oil off.
Guy Vincent these have been used by chefs,
bakers and anyone in the know for 50 yrs they come from France and sometimes you can’t improve on perfection The one thing I love about these is you can WASH THEM. Thanks
The only way I can put a Silpat in the dishwasher is to drape it over the top rack, which is not ideal. How does everyone else do it?
I don't own one, but maybe you could use some clothespins or office 'binder clips' or something to hang it down from the top rack?
I drape it over a plate on the bottom rack. The plate is uneven, so the water gets in around it, no problem. Never been a problem.
Both great ideas. Thanks!
Hello!
Hello
so they picked the expensive silpat just because it fits in the baking pan? lame. i have the one they sell at costco. it retains the smell of oil and i used one on the counter where it has stuff from the counter stuck to it. i'd go with parchment or foil instead.
Why can’t they be used in a toaster oven?
They can.
I see you went to the mat on this one . If the one that is to long and works just trim it down.
What I think is that you should post the review dates in the video title, so I can know at a glance if this is something new, or just old re-cycled content that I saw on your website a couple of years ago already.
We used to have problems organizing baking mats. One day we came up with an idea that's been working for us. See czcams.com/video/h8tx2mEwkWw/video.html. We now roll the mats up to save space.
Knew that was going to be the best choice.
Why would you sell in the US a mat larger than a baking sheet? 🤦🏻♂️
Your video is fantastic! It would be great to have more people like you who are willing to promote silicone kitchen utensils. There are still many people unaware of how convenient and safe silicone kitchen tools can be.
I keep finding fakes, I just want the originals..
I had a silpat once, don’t expect them to last more than a year.😔
marilyn kozlow I’ve had mine for years and they are fine. I wonder why yours didn’t last.
$22? the link takes you to two for $66....
Since this was a clip from an episode that was filmed months ago the prices have changed due to the virus. Using Honey's price map $22 was accurate in February
@@jaredhamon3411 So.. in other words, SIPAT is price gouging due to the current emergency...Wont be buying from them EVER !!!
Only $22.00? Why so cheap?
$66.95 for 2 today. Where do you get them for $22.00?
Something smells here. They are on Amazon.ca for $29.99 CAD for one mat. Nothing is ever cheaper in Canada. It is free shipping with Amazon Prime as well.
It's an Amazon thing.
They automatically jack up prices on things if views suddenly go up.
Give it a few days or so and it should drop in price.
@@lordgarion514 Very cool. I hadn't figured that yet. Thanks Robert!
@Up-a-Creek Yes, well put. Sounds right to me. I haven't done a real research on this though I think I have experienced it before. I guess it just never really gelled for me but I sure will be on the lookout for it from now on. Thanks Up-a-Creek!
@Up-a-Creek Also, I think there are some browser plug-ins that can actually track the price history of things on amazon. Might be good to look into those. Thanks again!
22 dollars in 2023 is 35
I always keep two of these and I've never paid more than $22.00 for them, they're the real deal. But sometimes I want to bake something really sketchy (with either tons of sugar, color or non-edible ingredients like crayons) and so I might try out the Amazon Basics brand to see how it fares.
Sounded like an add for silpat to me.
America's test kitchen airs on PBS (public broadcasting system) so other that the ads at the beginning of an episode, they aren't sponsored.
As long as it has US in the products name it will always get Top Choice in Americas test kitchen.
Actually, not really; Silpat silicone mats are made in France.
Man, once again I had a joke ready... But it just *slipped* my mind!
“It’s totally safe, trust us!”
30 years from now;
“If you or a loved one have used a silicone baking mat you may to be entitled to financial compensation.”
hello
Thank you for this review of silicone baking mats, as opposed to the ones from Silicon Valley, which are made of silicon. Big difference, lol.
where is Hannah ?
Dishwashers.....why?
People are getting lazy.
I prefer "Made in USA " products if available and of equal quality..

Right? I'm fortunate in that I'm still working and watching what's happening to my fellow Americans, I refuse to buy anything from China. First choice is USA, next is Canada, Mexico then Europe. If I can't source from these, then I'll go without.
@weirdshibainu - I'm with you. We have finally all become aware that Chi-Nah is our enemy, and has been for decades. And let's all get back to work! This CCP Flu has run its course.
@@weirdshibainu
What's your problem with China exactly?
You're not actually believing the bullshit trumptard is spewing are you?
China told the WHO in December. 17 Americans, 12 of which are scientists, work at the WHO. Absolutely no chance trumptard wasn't told last year. AND the WHO posted about it on their site within a day.
@@lordgarion514
There are none so blind as those who will not see.
And yes, I'm talking about you.
Buy made in the USA not Europe, Americans
This is a really bad video. Very little objective measurements were given, such as testing at which temperature things melted to see if they were really working as advertised. Among other things.
Incomplete video.
Hey, buy this thing, we like it. Sorry, no review, no explanation (cost vs benefits). Not the typical ATK video. I like the topic. I like the channel. But this video isn't answering the question of "why". Maybe that is why it only has 39k views.
This video sucks. This seemed liked a very biased review.
