It's amazing the amount of inbreeding between Louis XIV's heirs and Monsieurs' heirs. No wonder they behaved the way they did. Thanks, Nieke, once again.
Thank you so much for watching Manuela ! Glad you liked the video !
They were a family tree with no branches.😂
@@jamiemohan2049Indeed, a family wreath!
"She was extremely lazy and wouldn't leave her bed for days." And "She'd throw up her food just to start eating again."
Sounds like extreme depression and bulimia.
Quite possibly so. But historians have not conclusively said so so I don't either in my video. But I would not be surprised if it was the case.
Thank you very much, dear Kings of France, for another wonderful video about French Royals! Just wanted to write that I feel so sorry and much pity about that lady, Marie Louise… especially about her health and the way of life she lead. But, probably, she was happy about that, we don’t know for sure. And those terrible dirty rumors about her and her dad(😢. Can’t wait for another video!!!
Thanks so much for watching and commenting again !!
Liselotte was a fascinating woman in her own right, with a dynastic heritage going back to Mary Queen of Scots
Her memoirs of her life at court are fascinating.
Very interesting
Thank you for making this video. A fascinating figure, Marie Louise was. This video is just as enlightening to me as the one you made about her husband. Thank you again.
Glad you liked it Vishnu. As loved as Berry Bon-coeur was, as unloved she was, so it seems...
I can only imagine if social media would have existed back then. Perhaps we are reliving the past in the present.
No social media, but there was the Duc De St-Simon who had nothing good to say about her....
I always assume their portraits at this time in Versailles differ very much from what they looked like in life.
I'm sure they were painted in a flattering light at times, but it is known of the portrait that Rigaud painted of Louis XIV that he did portray him as realistically as he could. That is, for example, visible due to the fact that you can see his lower jaw being somewhat 'off'... which was due to the fact that Louis at that time had undergone some procedures after they broke off a part of his jaw during a dental procedure. Louis never looked the same, and it is visible in Rigaud's portrait, if you REALLY look for it.
@@a.w.5489 It is an absolute masterpiece. I prefer it over the portrait by Hans Holbein of Henry VIII, although that is also an amazing piece of art. What I also never expected and was quite surprised by, when I first saw it, is how big the Rigaud Painting actually is. Somehow I expected it to be much smaller. I'm considering buying a print of the portrait, and to find an old frame at a fleamarket to hang in my office... I'm quite the fan of Louis, as you might imagine.
HEY!!
Love from england
Thank you so much for watching and commenting.
How horrible to assume that daughter and father had an affair!
The rumours were there. But we all know Versailles was vicious !
It sounds like she was extremely depressed (considering her allegedly abusive father and husband, along with her many stillborn and dead children--no wonder!) Poor woman. I think people are way too hard on her. There's so much rumor and outright lies told about the rich and powerful, maybe Marie Louise wasn't as bad as her contemporaries made her out to be. She seems downright harmless when compared to her male relatives.
Being over weight and sleeping all the time makes a horrible woman, right? Why no one has thought she was ill.
No one could think of anything nice to say about her, so no eulogy was said. It's hard to misinterpret that record.🤷♂️
In the end, her time at the convent didn't count for much.⛪ She conceived 2 children and died of a cold shortly after a blow out summer garden party. What must convent life have been like back then?💒💃
My mom worked at a Josephite convent for 20 years and nothing like that ever happened there. They really did enjoy beer with football and beer with dancing, but nothing of that level of unholy overindulgence was reported.
I wonder how her family felt about her. Considering her proximity to whichever Bourbon was on the throne throughout her entire life, her "cloistered" years away from the court probably answers that question. They were probably happy to lap up the liqueur at her party though. What a way to be remembered.👎

So this year I once again came down with covid the day after my birthday (positive on the 20th) but it only lasted a few days, although I am sad about some plans needing to be cancelled so I needed this little pic me up!
That sucks. I hope you feel better soon. 🍀

Thanks for watching Danny !
@@TheKingsofFrance always a pleasure 🙏
She sounds like a lot of fun!
If you like sleeping and eating, which, coincidentally, are two of my favorite hobbies !
@@TheKingsofFrance In all seriousness, though, I can't help wondering to what extent all the miscarriages, stillbirths and high infant mortality affected women back then. It had to have been psychologically very damaging, as well as physically. To lose child after child is something that I can't imagine.
She was a real bad girl. Maybe you should do a countdown of the top 5 most scandalous. royalty.
Oh that actually sounds like fun ! French ? Or overall ?
@@TheKingsofFrance You could probably do several videos, one for each country.
Great job with the video. Fun fact: Did you know, Henry 4th of Castile wanted Isabella to marry Edward, and then, Richard ?
hai brother :D

Hi, Awesome live history video I enjoyed it can't wait to see more next week. How are you and Rani your cat doing? I'm doing well. My cat Benjamin says hi to you and cute Rani your cat. My cat Benjamin likes to tipped his water dish for attention. Does Rani your cat do tricks to get attention? The weather is good in Canada no snow. How is the weather where you are? Have a great day see you next video greetings from Canada 😊
Hi Michelle, we are good. Preparing for my trip to Italy, I'm leaving on Saturday and will be gone for two weeks ! The weather in Italy is lovely, really spring time overthere, so I'm looking forward to it, as it only rains here... Rani sends her love to Benjamin and you... The water dish tipping, very cat like of him ! I bet it's very cute ! Tricks Rani does : she licks my face at 4 am when she wants food. Not sure if that's a trick though haha !
She must have had an illness that was unknown at her time. That autopsy report is not about just dying from common cold.
👍
Thank you for watching.
Oh my goodness. No eulogy because of no goods words about her 😱 I wonder why she became so lazy. Seems like she didn't care at all of herself. What a life! Thank you for telling her story! 🥰
Glad you liked the video !!! Thanks as always !
Can you please do a video on Napoleon the second
I'm sure eventually I will, but at the moment I'm not working on that just yet.
I have A question: did you check out possible history ?
i haven’t heard of them before brother.. enlighten me more :)
@@lillineviellewasherelmao He makes alternative history videos on CZcams.
No, not yet. I'm leaving for Italy next week for a couple of weeks, and I've been working hard to ensure the videos for the next three weeks are uploaded and ready to go. But I'm still going to watch when I have a little bit more time to breathe.

She had the moniker Joufflotte after the death of Monseiur Le Duc de Berry she took care of his pregnant paramour a certain "little ugly femme de chambre " as Madame Liselotte called her. By the time she died Madame La Douchess allso suffered from gout
Merci Plamen, you always have the perfect little bits of information to make us know more about the people in the videos !
@The Kings of France and I'm allways happy to share any info I have! Keep up the good work Nieke!
At the time of her death both of her legs were swollen whit gaut
Poor girl. Thanks for sharing this info with us Plamen !
My pleasure as allways. Bad thing is that my favorite court couples all had marriage problems.Marie Louise Elisabeth and Berry Bon Coeur Louise Benedicte and Monseiur Le Duc de Maine Le Grand Dauphin and Marie Anne Christine Victoire Monsieur Phillippe and Madame Liselotte only Le Petit Dauphin and Marie Adelaide de Savoie didn't have any marriage issues.
How can you vomit and continue eating you cant have the taste of other food🤔🤔
I think I must be this woman's reincarnation!;-)😂
Do tell us more 😀
The definition of spoiled rotten lol.
You're quite right. Thanks for watching !
Eating disorders, weight gain, depression, and promiscuity are not uncommon among victims of incest and sexual abuse. The relationship with her father and rejection by her mother should be considered. I'm not convinced that she's been painted in a fair light. Then, add multiple miscarriages and poor health to that, and you've got a pretty bleak existence. 😔
Some of the dresses in antiquity were awesome. But you couldn't pay me to be a woman back then. Just saying. 😂
