  • Today we install the best audio system for a Miata! It might not be the biggest or loudest but it fits in a Miata perfectly and doesn't compromise trunk space! It uses a 8" subwoofer, 4 speakers, and a mono channel amplifier.

    The fuse should really be right next to the battery!
    The point of the fuse is to protect the wire catching fire and not the amp.
    If you have the fuse next to the amp and the insulation rubs off the wire and it grounds itself there, the fuse will not do anything and the wire will heat up and in the worst case catch on fire.

      Rectro YT skar audio is a brand that’s also a part of sundown audio. until i’m told different, my assumption is that all skar audio products are well made. i like rockford fosgate door speakers if you don’t want to spend an arm and a leg on your audio setup. nothing wrong with kicker, but just not my cup of tea lol. boss audio wiring kits are undersized and over power rated. dangerous imo. amps are also over rated

    • @christraudt6730
      @christraudt6730 Před 3 lety

      Rectro YT ideally you want to match the rms power of an amp to the rated rms of the sub at the Resistance you’ll be wiring it for, but some amps lie about their rms and peak output. like boss audio lol

One day I swapped subwoofers with my buddy, he had a JL audio 12" W7 but powered by a JL audio amp, I think it was 400w rms. My L7 sounded so much better in his car with his JL amp. The Boss amp did hold up for the 2ish years I kept it, but I wont ever recommend them.

    Gingium if you didn't, make sure to tune the gain on the amp and adjust the high pass and low pass so you aren't having your speakers play frequencies outside of their optimal range.
    Your headache you mentioned may be from the sub playing frequencies below what you can actually hear starting at about 20hz but below 30hz can still cause that. Using the filters will keep the sub from playing too low and unburden the sub with playing the frequencies that it is not good at which results in less clarity. The Mids and tweeters not having the lower frequencies filtered out will also impact their clarity. Adjusting the gain on the sub will allow you to maintain audio quality at max volume instead of just blowing it out, the gain is not a bass boost and it is not a sub volume setting. The proper way to adjust the sub gain is with a multimeter and a tone generator, look for one of those guides.
    This video style works, I wouldn't say it is better that the other way. Might be good to use the new format in some videos and the old format with others depending on the subject.

      @@Janice.Longoria. For speakers I highly recommend the Kicker CS series speakers. Not the cheapest but I found they are the best bang for the buck. You can find them anywhere, they sound great, and are pretty reliable. As far as head units a decent Pioneer head unit is the way to go. Especially if you can go with a touch screen unit. You can usually get a unit for around $300-400 and get most of the bells and whistles with 13 band EQ settings. Thats super important if you want to make your stereo system to sound great. Most less expensive units including stock units only have 3-4 EQ settings. And again they are pretty reliable. I have never had one fail on me. But keep in mind not all Pioneer head units are equal. Some are loaded with features and some are pretty watered down. You'll just have to find out if you can use a single din or a double din head unit and do some research from there

    Suggestion for the the audio, I'm running the Kicker Hideaway HS8 8 inch enclosed sub with internal amp. I maximized the sub efficiency by placing it in my 92 on the passenger foot well FACED down towards the floor, resonating the low frequencies through out the cabin. I placed it., where the the factory ECU was and moved my Ecu actually above the glove box. It's sounds so full and efficient, I have been told by many it's impressive for the space it occupies. Mine is under the carpet and doesn't take up anymore space than the 92 factory ECU space.

    I just bought a miata a couple months ago and I really struggled finding a great sub with taking any space from the car. I use the car to deliver pizza so I need all the space I need. I found a perfect sub that takes up no space if you take out your spare tire. It’s a spare tire sub. You guys should check it out. It’s really worth looking into if you want a sub for your Miata. I have one that’s an 8 inch sub with a built in amp so you don’t have to worry about that. (Rockville RockGhost Hidden Powered 8" Car Subwoofer Spare Tire Sub-No Lost Space) go on Amazon and you will find it.

    Glad he atleast went with skar audio. Boss amp isn't the best route to go with it tho. I have a 4th order bandpass sub box in my jeep. 4 skar 8in speakers and a 10 inch port all tied into into a skar 2000watt rms amp. Wired down to 1 ohm. Not the best system to have but my 8's surprise alot of people who've rode in it

    Just wondering, is it possible when you install an aftermarket sound system to some how mix/adjust the bass to sound level without some form of fancy head unit?

    • @oshino6596
      @oshino6596 Před 3 lety

      You can control bass output on the amp itself and even the most basic headunits let you tune the sound level of the sub vs the speakers

    This is the channel you watch, if you need inspiration for a miata build you can actually afford. Personally I'm gonna put one of those nagasaki hair dryers and then just make it a show car, because their is no point in trying to get any more than 500hp on a car that light. I feel like every car builder on youtube swears that if it isnt 600hp+ its garbage

    I beg to differ, good sir!
    The JL Audio speaker setup, 400W Amp in the trunk, and two 8 inch subwoofers I put behind the seats in my NC is a more badass choice of audio for a miata.
    Think I'm going to have to make a video on it now...
