Old French song that looks like an unofficial anthem in honor of Ireland because the French have always loved the Irish people very much. Also, this song has the particularity to stay in the memory immediately because its rhythms are unique ...

Great choice, I'm portuguese and grew up in france, this singer is in my opinion the best I've heard in this country. He decided to retire from touring and it's sad cause I wish I could have bought some tickets to my parents cause my father really loves his voice, he doesn't know much about music but each time he head him he was saying "he's the best french singer I've ever listened to". Have a nice day. The song is about the lakes and most of all the history of Connemara in Ireland. You can find more information about it on the internet. I think Michel wrote this great song (his best in my opinion) cause he fell in love with that region there when he went there, he talked about it years ago.

Connemara is a beautiful place in County Galway in the West of Galway facing the Wild Atlantic Way. It is famous for beautiful surroundings, coves, bays and buildings such as Kylemore Abbey. I am blessed to live in County Galway, about an hour away in Athenry which also has a rich history. I visit Connemarra often as it's a beautiful place to be and has great hiking trails along the Twelve Ben's, which are twelve mountain peaks. The beauty of connemara always leaves me speechless.

It has been said here before and it is true: the original version is even more impressive than this one. This is actually played a bit to fast, resulting in Michel not having the time to speak out the many words in time. The original starts MUCH slower, making the increasing tempo even more dramatic. In contrast the pauses, when the tempo tumbles back down, is originally much longer than what was played here. And most of all: no bagpipes!

I find that you often make faces! Maybe because of the French language, which can be understandable when you don't understand the language. But do not believe that the French always appreciate English-speaking singers. At first, the French accepted the opening of American music on French radios out of obligation because it was a payment accepted by De Gaulle for French debts following the Second World War.
And then musically, the French have excellent musicians...

It's really not the best version of this song, the tempo is too fast and you can even hear he miss some words because it was really too quick.
