  • The Supreme Court has issued a landmark ruling that could see the demise of fossil fuel production in the UK, meaning outsourced production to other countries and the UK not being able to generate income from oil wells.
    Jacob Rees-Mogg explains.

      In "the wealth of nations", Adam Smith defines economics as: "The production, distribution and consumption of commodities."
      Appearently its distribution and consumption that dictates the decisions made by bothe the courts and the politicians.
      Which begs the question: how are you going distribute and consum when you dont have production of our own?

      What the Court is saying is that Net Zero is the country's official religion, and that the slightest doubt on the subject is now illegal.
      This is the thinnest edge of an enormous wedge. Life in the Keirera going to be devastatingly awful.
      Perhaps we should thank these woolly idiots for producing their 'opinion' in good time for us to vote for another future. We won't though. A nation always deserves the government it elects. And Britain today deserves Keir.

    This is why people are so frustrated at the Tories, including with JRM. They have not sorted out the laws during the past decade, despite ample opportunity, and PM May tied the country into legal commitments it can’t meet. It’s so annoying to hear JRM say he is keen now to see a change in legislation!! It’s exasperating, in fact, because it won’t happen now that there is an election. Sorry, I’ve lost my respect for JRM in recent months, as he seems so complacent and detached. It is impossible to say exactly what the energy will be used for, and hence impossible to predict the environmental impact of its use. What if some of it is used to produce nasty chemicals? You cannot tell, therefore the production of energy itself is going to be impossible.

    The onshore oil & gas sector have had the planning system skewed in their favour for decades. Now someone is reading the small print and holding them to account all they can do is blub. UKOG, the company at Horse Hill is on the verge of bankruptcy and will probably going bust in the next few months leaving the taxpayer with the clean up costs. Meanwhile fracking companies, having realised its a non starter in UK geology, are writing off the value of their licences and handing them back to the government.

    UK (wholesale) electric prices are falling rapidly, and wind power became the largest contributor to the grid, overtaking gas this year. Wind power is free once its built. If we keep investing heavily in home insulation, force landlords (like me) to provide more efficient homes for tenants, then soon we wont buy any power from abroad, we'll make more than we use and sell it, wind and solar power can be the UKs new gold rush. People dont see that because oil and gas industry control the media and spend a fortune spreading lies about renewables as they desperately try to protect their dying profits.

      What happens when the wind doesn’t blow?

    • @mjcamp01
      @mjcamp01 Před 5 dny

      @@MsJk29 typically UK wind blows most in winter, and least in summer when the sun is making solar. We do need more insulation to reduce power usage. People behaviours changes to match the economy, this was proven last year when it was expensive, usage dropped significantly. In future when electric is cheapest people will use it most, for car charging etc, and less will be needed when production is lower. People also overlook that refining oil and gas uses vast amounts of power, and the same rare earth metals that are used to make electric vehicles. Also, it's proven that air quality is directly linked to health, less oil and gas burned will mean less disease, therefore less pressure on the NHS. Seems obviously a better solution doesn't it?
