SCORCHED EARTH | APOCALYPTIC FIRE DEVASTATION | OLALIE LAKE, OREGON

I head out to the Olalie Lake, Oregon area to do some reconnaissance for my upcoming Mountain Lakes 100 Ultramarathon. This area got devastated in the 2020 Lionshead Fire. It has been closed the past few years but now it is open and the race will be starting and finishing at the Olalie Lake Resort. We camped out at Paul Dennis campground and I did a recon around the lake to include some trail called Monson Lake.

Thanks for the recon. I’m running the race too (second time) but haven’t been on this section since the fire. Similar I now prefer adventuring over racing. But like to sign up occasionally to stay sharp.

Sarah, thanks for watching. I made a wrong turn so I don't think most of the course will be as rough as the video, but it is still dry, dusty, rocky, and full of sun exposure. Hopefully we get some rain beforehand.
