Echo Show 15 - Long Term Review

- The echo show line has been a staple in my house since the original one came out 6 years ago. Therefore I bought the Show 15 day one as I always wanted a wall mounted version. Here are my long term thoughts on it, generally I use it a lot and the upgraded screen size has been VERY useful!

Yesterday, I put on a youtube video while cooking and I noticed they updated the on-screen touch controls 0:52. A nice update for sure 👆 as I mentioned I'm not sure why it was even like that from the get-go 😂

I'm new to Amazon devices but considering this for kitchen streaming. Any streaming apps available on Fire TV are supported on this device, is that right?

I currently have a show 8 system with my mum in her care home. It is only used for video calls. The size of this screen is an advantage for her eyesight. Would the reduced camera sensor negate any benefit of the larger screen? Is the audio quality ok for a voice call?
Hi! The sensor is decent, it will not be as good as the 8 but the almost doubled screen size might make that worth it alone. I would say if you have adequate lighting it should be fine. Hope that helps!

Hi Nick! I have lutron shades that I got from Home Depot. They have a decent selection there, I have also used somfy and hunter douglas shades as well. I'll be installing some new ones in my living room soon so perhaps I will do a vid on those!
I would like to know what is the monthly wattage consumption for this device, I haven’t found any information about it.

Can this be used to store and display scanned recipes rather than using a recipes app? I have many recipe cards id like scanned and put on s kitchen screen.
You could certainly upload scans to the Amazon photo app and then put them up on the screen. I would just make sure they are optimized for 16:9 or 9:16 depending which orientation you set yours up as. Hope that helps!
How customisable is the home screen? Can I set it up it up to have Calendar/To-do's/post it notes and thats it? TIA!
It's very customizable, certainly the most out of all the alexas. The sky is the limit
Would you rather get the 10 or the 15 in your opinion from today ?
I'm partial to the 15 just because of the screen size and cleaner wall mounting. They are very similar in price right now too
I’m thinking of getting this for a friend who is paraplegic so needs something hands free to watch CZcams how handsfree is the echo show 15?
It is relatively handsfree, the youtube functionality is split however, there is an on screen remote or fire remote that you can use. You can also say some commands it will follow, you can also cast stuff over from a phone which is nice. Hope that helps a bit, not sure the exact limitations of your firend.

Where can I get those smart shades?
Those are Lutron shades, I got them at home depot they are blackouts. A lot of other companies offer alternative products just make sure they have an app and are smart connected, hope that helps!

it’s a waste of money in my opinion. I wanted it as a hub but it’s worthless for that. Now i’m gonna have to get the new hub coming out and use this as a kitchen aid for quick calendar and a couple other things. You can’t even get downloader to side load apps you like.
What new hub are you referring to?
This is perfect as a hub.
