      @@winstonpx Sigma already beats that lens IMO. I dn't get why Samyang had to make this lens this big and heavy while they have the lightest primes. It's over 1kg!

  • @PhantomV13
    @PhantomV13 Před 2 lety +6

    Discovered these reviews recently, and they're kinda addicting. Tiny idea for the vignetting results: What if on one side of the video you had two rectangles, one sampling the middle shade and another the corner shade? Putting them next to each other would make the lightness difference more apparent.
    ...as if these reviews aren't super detailed already. Ah well, just something that crossed my mind, keep it up!
    (also looking at the centers of these crosses helped my realize I have mild astigmatism :P)

    Great video!
    For Viltrox prime, the longer the better optics. The 85mm is very slightly better than the 50mm. The 35mm is less good and the 24mm is the worst. Same for Viltrox apsc prime.

    Awesome review, as usual. I have one question that is not about this lens tho. I know that now, the mirrorles cameras are the future and everything, but I have been trying to find a good review of sigma's 70-200 f2.8 sports, especially one that shows it in detail, but I couldn't find any. I know it is a somewhat old lens, i guess, that is for dslrs, but I was wondering maybe you could do a review of some kind, and maybe a comparison with tamron's G2 lens. Because some say that the sigma is better, others say tamron is better, i can't trust any other reviewer than you. And also, sorry for my English.

I like your deliveries on lenses and cameras as it reflects real world examples and does not become clinical lab reviews. Currently, January'22 at Amazon UK, Viltrox is £350 and Nikon £465. Cheers.

    Expensive for what it is. Not much better then basic nifty 50 for Sony that costs 3rd of price. I use their speed booster on my Sony and i must say that it works pretty good. Their lenses arent bad either. They have some heft to them and af works almost as good as native ones. They aren't perfect opticly, but they are getting better. I see them up there with Sigma and Tamron in couple of years.

    So basically, the Samyang 45mm f/1.8 is a better idea because it's smaller, costs $100 less, has the same aperture, has generally better optical characteristics, and is closer to the "what your eye sees" FOV that people want 50mm lenses for.
    Also weird hearing you say "cheap-ass."
