thought this video would help me decide on a chair finally, but i am even more confused now
I personally don't trust them their only 2 Stier are above $750 one of which is THEIR Chair. I'm certain they're just trying to make some cash from affiliate links and directly promoting their own brand.
@@hannmarch8209 What a joke right? And so many affiliate links.
@@hannmarch8209 It's not really THEIR chair though. It's a an amalgamation between the Steelcase Leap and the Steelcase Amia (thus the name Lamia)
Get whatever Steelcase chair you can get used, in good condition, for ~200-300 quid.
A lot of office close-downs mean they're often around for cheap since they're so ubiquitous and the quality is unmatched. They have a few different models that might suit your needs more or less, but they're all good. Just get whatever is available if you're not looking for a very specific feature.
Right to the point with alot of chair variety but please include the price when talking about every chair as thats a huge determining factor when deciding one. Takes a long time to look each one up individually.

Sorry boss, can’t come in today. New office chair tier list just dropped.
Haha...let's go! -Greg
So wait... these guys sell chairs... and the chair they sell is their S-pick?
xD
They sell many of them, look the parenthesis
Those chairs are not their own brand but reputable brand chairs which they have refurbished. some of them them are hybrid of two different models.
Thanks for the review and looks interesting! Do you think this is a better option than the Herman miller Mirra 2? Thanks !
I had this video open in a tab during a work meeting on accident and got called out by my coworker who I've been trying to convince to get the Kirin because he is indeed sitting on a kitchen chair.
I really appreciate how you go straight to the point without dilly dallying with 30 min long introductions thank you
Even the mention of their own site is less than 5 seconds. Just boom back to the show.
this is just an ad for them lol@@jarathen1625
Hi @BTODtv
Which office chair can you recommend with a headrest?
Secret bonus point for the Gesture: If you have an Ikea Fredde desk, and you fold the Gesture's armrests into a triangle, it exactly fits within the Ikea Fredde desk's cutout
Great detailed review. Thanks for helping me find a new chair!!
Hello guys, i wanted to ask you if i measure 6.2 feet and I weigh 180 lbs should i take the Aeron size B or C? Thank you for your excellent content! Cheers :-)
Great! Reviews and tested for real life situations like getting up getting down, seat it’s self, arm rest. And actual usage for hours on the chair I think that the most important park I.e. the arm slippage and depth of the seat
Hey BTOD! I have a Fern and am curious what you would recommend to clean the wool seat?
Any experience with the Boulies EP200? Looks a similar style chair to a Ticova or Sihoo, but those are ranked quite differently in this tier list so unsure where the EP200 would stand.
I'm in the UK so just looking for more options since many of the ranked chairs are unavailable here.
See if you guys can get your hands on the new steelcase karman with the extended backrest that just came out. Would love to see what you all think.
Like this and your lumbar pain just goes away. No refunds!
Starting a WFH job soon and after hours of research, i went in today to my local Steelcase showroom and tested out the Leap and Gesture, still unsure which i'll pick (If either) but your videos help significantly.
Awesome, glad we could help! Best of luck on your new WFH job -Greg
Thank you for the concise and comprehensive review of chairs.
Am looking to purchase a good chair so good timing that I stumbled on this review. I didn't hear the pricing for all the chairs, which could be a factor, but, based on this review, am leaning toward the Lamia BTOD or Haworth Zody. I will research further but for someone that is heavier and maybe taller than the reviewers is one of these two chairs a more comfortable fit. The Lamia looks comfortable but hard to tell how it would suit a larger bodied person; the Haworth seems to be a better fit for taller bodies based on the longer back. Or maybe both are equally comfortable for all body types. Also, can you tell me the name/brand of the desk that the monitor is sitting on in front of the chairs being reviewed. Am also looking for a good computer desk.
can you a best list specifically for heavier people?
What's the price of the steel case with amia seat? The s tier one? No link?
what is the desk you're using in this video? it looks really nice.
@BTODtv would there be a chair you could recommend that doesn't use wheels but instead the umbrella style base that also reclines and has adjustable arm rests. I've looked all over. Ideally it also be fabric but leather is fine.
I'm still new to this but I see the Amia has different versions. I was wondering, how does the standard Amia perform against say the Amia Air 3D KNIT?
can you single out the chairs with flip up or flip out armrests? very important for "seated exercise" seniors. Please provide a link to that selection.
Amazing video and content!
Would be so good to put orientative prices in each chair on the tier list, at least my self would be less lost
Not a huge fan of the seat pan/cushion of the Haworth fern in digital knit I’m 200lbs 6’3 and I find the cushion to not be plush enough and the gap between the backrest and pan seems to be annoying for someone my height. Do you recommend the gaming Herman miller embody to be more plush as far as seat pan and backrest/lumbar go?
Just got my Haworth Fern 2 weeks ago and I really love it, thanks guys for your guidance.
Which material did you go with, may I ask? It is a great looking chair! I like the look of the mesh, but feel like the digital knit would be more comfortable.
@maiksu841 Digital Knit configuration is definitely the best.
It's actually the main reason the guys at BTOD ended up liking the Fern a lot, as they didn't find the mesh version with the lumbar to be as comfortable.
@@StardustLegacyFighter I have the mesh without lumbar as that's the only option in the uk
You guys have experience with net tensioned lumbar systems? A chair I tried felt the most comfortable for me, but it was the only one with this system.
What is your opinion on the Knoll Life chair? im surprised it isnt included on the list.
Great job 👍
Are you guys ever going to check out the RH logic / mereo line of chairs? I've heard good things and am interested in purchasing one myself
It is not available in our market -Greg
Hey guys, what Aeron is Robert using? The B or C? I have the same size and can't decide between these two, thank you!
We're showing a size B in the video, but I actually prefer the size C. At 6'2" I appreciate the higher backrest and more space between the seat bolsters. - Robert
How long do you use these chairs before forming an opinion on them?
Also can you rate the flexispot line of chairs?
Thanks.
Typically we have most chairs in use for anywhere from 2 weeks, to many months. Just depends on the products and how good or bad it is. We have quite a few chairs here now that have been in rotation for 5+ years and we still talk about them -Greg
i know you just reviewed like 100 billion chairs but could you check out the MotionGrey AirGlide? lol
It looks similar to the ErgoChair Pro at 30:06, but it looks super nice, and for someone who currently isn't using an office chair, I can't imagine it not being comfortable!
Edit: just realized the new ErgoChair Curve looks almost exactly like the MotionGrey AirGlide. if you have that one tested already that would be cool too
You guys are a Godsend! Because of your videos and recommendations, I got the Haworth Zody for €650 during the black friday sales and I think I made the right choice.
Do you have a breakdown of prices. I am on a budget and cant afford several hundred dollar chair. However, i do want a good chair. I do not need any bells and whistles. Also do you have the hour sitting rating? Such as, you can sit in Chair x comfortably for up to 20 hours, chair T for 10 hours etcetera.
I see on your website you sell chairs. You should add the tier list to your filters. So for example I could filter by A-Tier etc
What would you choose between soji and Vera? I’m 5’10 and I believe I value seat and back rest the most. Arms as a close second. Thoughts?
That is Vera then. The arms are a bit better on the Soji. The seat is softer on Vera and the backrest is as well -Greg
I returned the Embody (non-adjustable lumbar, slippery seat, meh Arms) after 10 days and got a Fern. It's fantastic in every way!
I did the same! Got the Fern in December and it is amazing! What made it God-tier was adding the Atlas headrest to it!
@@Jaxs3003 Did you get it with lumbar support?
I didn't get the lumbar support. I read everywhere that it was too pronounced. I believe I made the correct choice, but have nothing to compare it to. @@grooty6434
What's the configuration you went with? -Greg
@@Jaxs3003 I’m looking to get a digital knit with no lumbar or forward tilt. I’m assuming the aluminum base is just for aesthetics?
They really have it in for IKEA huh. I can’t believe the Markus is an F!!! Is the Ticova at the same price range really that much more superior/comfortable? Owners of both or either feel free to chime in!
We don’t have anything against IKEA. They just make terrible chairs. -Ryan
Are the armpads you put on your refurbished Leap chairs soft? I read a review on your competitor Crandall that they had hard armpads (on amazon). I decided to go with you guys, and I know those other people put extra cushion put I saw your Lamia video about how yours is better. But I got your Leap. I am hoping the arms are good and won't have to return. And am looking forward to receiving it.
If you get rid of the lumbar on the markus it can become a way better chair, give it a try, it's easy to do so and there's guides on youtube
Is the new Ergohuman GEN2 available in all leather (like the original)?
Not yet, but will be in the future -Greg
Ever since your video about the Asus Destryer I was waiting to see where you'd place it on one of these tier lists. Sad to not see it here
Never fear... our 2024 gaming chair tier list is releasing later this month! - RG
With you delivered to Canada. I would have got a Lamia a long time ago
Damn guys! Great reviews. Nothing gives the perfect chair. This needs to be fleshed out. Thank you for you educational review. I now know that computer chairs in general are inept.
hehe im suffering with the hyken rn. Getting the Leap v2 soon though.
I've spent over $700 on chairs trying to find a high-back chair for a 6'4" that's comfortable. Is there a video from you all on chairs for taller people? I work remote and sit in my chair for long hours.
Hi, how come you didn’t rate the HM embody gaming version? And are you going to review the newcomer, Anthros chair?
We saved the Gaming Embody for the gaming chair tier list coming out shortly. We have the newest version of the Anthro’s now. I think it is an improvement to the first iteration. I would have it somewhere around A or B tier right now. -Ryan
Best comparison!
Have they ever tested the Haworth Zody with the headrest?
Commenting just to help you guys with the algorithm to hopefully reach as many people as possible as majority of people are sitting on garbage that's hurting them.
Facts.
I bought a Steelcase Leap in 2022. Great lumbar support but the seat is so uncomfortable. My left glute often feels numb, and I have to stand. I'm in the chair for at least 8 hours a day. I regret buying this chair.
Me to. I sold it. I bought an gaming embody.
Thanks
Thank you for making up these lists folks, truly valuable. A bit specific request - would be amazing to see your list of chairs with flip-up arms. I'm a guitar player and a flip-up arm chair is the only option for me to fit with guitar without unscrewing the arm. It seems that most of such chairs are cheap and come from unpopular brands with questionable quality but it would be interesting to see your take on this.
The HM Embody arms can go very low, Ahnesty on YT shows playing a guitar in that chair, might be worth checking out his video for more info.
Wonder why they never include the Workpro Quantum 9000 - I've heard good things, just got a Leap over it but wondering what they think of it, felt like a comfy chair
2 chairs to add to your collection: Vertagear Trigger and Andaseat Kaiser 3
Awesome video, but one thing: It would help to know your body heights and maybe even body weights, maybe just as an overlay in the video or below the video in the description. Might give important info to viewers including me.
anyone make a high end suggestion (potentially ok with well done refurb) for 6'6 280lbs (long legs, med torso) I see most seem to fail for above 6'2" with lumbar support. I have been scoping Steelcase and Herman Miller (leap v2, embody) and started to look at Hawthorn a bit. I would say I could be spending up to 10hrs ( 5-6hrs at a clip if i get a new job wfh)
I remember getting the sihoo from amazon because of all the 5 star reviews but after a few months I couldn't sit in it anymore
Your Staples Hyken chair review was so true I had such bad backpain I had to be bed ridden an entire day with intense pain because I sat down on it too hard, shoots damage directly into the lumbar and tailbone. I switched to a Sealy chair and it was mediocre but fine until it wore out. Now I am in some random OfficeMax brand it is the worst chair comfort wise I have ever sat in.
I am poor and have to buy these crappy chairs and I almost have an Accountant degree so hopefully can upgrade someday. You should try out the Shaquille O'Neal Amphion my brother has its kinda decent.
yeah fuck that chair. I bought it during covid to work and same thing happened to me. My lower back was killing me. The mesh on the back wore down that the lumbar support was just constant drilling into my back. What a terrible chair
you guys ever review the realm of thrones chairs? The valkyrie model is a good price
What about the Sihoo Doro C300 chair. that one has a mesh bottom.
Embody Gaming with Atlas headrest, Aloudy arm rest covers, a good footrest and slightly reclined (with Razer and Kensington gel wrist rests for keyboard and trackball) - S+ tier hands down.
Can you get the BTOD Lamia in Europe?
Hi guys. What chair can you recommend for shorter people in this 200-300$ range or lower ? Im 5"5 and I like the Ticova but the armrest are a bit too high even at their lowest and the depth of the seat is a also a bit too long. It's hard to shop for smaller people than average hahaha
We need really good chairs that also allow arms to be moved/folded completely away (i.e., for playing guitar)
I'm struggling to find something that fits my preferences, which the granted not great IKEA Markus, that I currently use, offers 😞 :
1. I like to recline a lot when watching movies or shows on my PC and sometimes lean on or against the sides or even armrests. So a comfy recline with at least optional headrest is needed and the (at least 3D) armrests should be solid and usable while reclined.
2. I'm a heathen and that means while reclining I like to have one leg up cross-legged. So I need some space, which means probably at least 50cm seat width and no hard frames or aggressive curvature. So net bottoms are probably out for me. (Markus fills that bill)
3. I get warm during summers, so I prefer mesh backs or if otherwise cool chairs.
4. I weigh about 90 kg while being 5'11" (179-180cm) and have quite pointy sit bones. which means... tbh I don't know what this means. I don't want the seat to bottom out I suppose.
Part of me has the suspicion that I only have some of these preferences BECAUSE I have been using the Markus for so long. 🤔
Best budget list please? Or any suggestion
Where does budget end for you dollars wise? -Greg
@@btodtv
I miss the Steelcase Please in the list. In which tier would would you put it?
I cant find any video where guys mention please v1 or v2. Are there any?
I have my own issues with the Embody but the top of the backrest rolling my shoulders isn't one. To avoid this you just need to loosen up the backrest about a full turn and it backs right off.
I understand how it functions, but doing that reduces the upper back support that I want from a chair so it isn’t a good fit for me -Greg
@@btodtv this is what I have discovered. We all react differently to each chair. In my case a single turn of the backrest is perfect and it still supports my upper back. But at the same time I find the backrest uncomfortably hard after sitting in it for more than 30 mins, especially when reclined. I'm gonna guess you don't find this.
Should I get a used leap v2 for 350 or buy a colamy atlas ??
It is hard to recommend the Leap v2 for $350 without knowing too much about it. It should be a better built chair, but how used it is and what might be ready to break could play some part in that decision. The Colamy is a great option if you're on a sub $300 budget and want something new -Greg
Is the Sihoo C300 in this list?
Ahhhh of course. The chair you sell is #1 ….. seems normal and unbiased.
It would seem normal and unbiased if you watched our content. -Ryan
@@btodtvthe problem is that you guys seem to favor your chairs over actual competitors who could actually compete with the higher end models, for example, you didn’t realize that the lumbar support on the h1 pro is actually adjustable so that issue that you had with it would not have been, but yet, there was multiple people working on this video and not one person corrected you or even showed you the h1 pro had extra features that you didn’t go over…I’m not sure if that was negligence on your part but it definitely threw me off your video and some of your content.
Hello BTOD team, I have submitted my info to get your cheat sheet but so far noting within my Gmail. Not in Spam, nor Social nor promotion sections. Is there a link/site we can get the latest ranked chairs? Thank you.
Did you get it yet?
Do you plan on reviewing the Anthros chair?
We've been in the process for a while. Should see something on the channel in the coming weeks -Greg
what chairs should i consider for my height and weight 5'8" 140lb? @btodtv
Hey guys just wanted to say you guys are the only content creators for office chairs that I trust. What would you recommend for a female 5'4" 120lbs looking for a plush padded s tier seat and a soft fabric/flexible back rest (definitely no mesh anywhere)? We've tried the leap v2, gesture, haworth fern & soji, herman miller all of them, and a couple standard leather chairs and the only one that seemed decent was the leap v2 though the seat wasn't as plush as we'd hoped. Any suggestions? Maybe the vera?
Thank you! Yes, the Vera might be a nice option but the seat height could be a bit too tall. Do you know where you are comfortable right now with the seat height? -Greg
@@btodtv Hi Greg! I don't have an exact measurement but I do know that she likes to cross her legs too so not the standard sitter. She does prefer a wider seat base as well
@@btodtv Okay so now Ive revisited the seat video I think its the vera, akir, or lamia in terms of the most cushy seat. Now where to try all of these in California..
I would exclude Lamia and Akir. Akir will be too big and the Lamia isn't going to have a nice plush seat. The Vera is your ticket. If you buy from us, we have 30 days to try the product plus free returns. You might be able to find somewhere local if you reach out to the manufacturer, EurotechSeating dot com -Greg
Please review the Steelcase Please! I have it and it is the best chair I have sat on, much better than the leap, aeron, etc, due to the dual backrest.
Do you have v1 or v2?
@@redzeppelin6659 V2, bought it second hand (non-refurb)
The only S tier is the chair you guys sell??? The end of that video actually made me LOL as you dead pan stare into the camera like, "Yeah, we did that."
Thanks for the advice on the Gaming Embody. You guys have been very helpful in a space with very little help. Still, that was funny.
Only S tier in the overall ratings. When we do a tier list on comfort only, there are other options that hit S tier for comfort :) Just to be clear though, the first overall tier list didn't have an S Tier chair and it wasn't until the Lamia was born that I would have anything to honestly pick for the spot -Greg

The Herman miller Embody for $1800 and the secret lab titan for $500 are both my pics. I’ve tried all the top tears chairs, and I’ve settled on these two.
I have a 2020 titan(before all the magnet upgrades basically) and it's not great. Maybe sitting for a bit but my hips always hurt
If the chair was flat and not bucket then it'd easily be a top pick for the build quality it has.
Ahnestly recommends the Andaseat Kaiser over the Titan, it's a similar shape but the Kaiser seems to have softer cushion.
Lol the titan is horrible
Do the contessa/Nuova. Also do the Crandall leap v2 extra padding which might be the same as the amiable leap. Also there's the leap v1 with the perfect padding
Looking at something like C tier overall for the Contessa and around the same or lower for comfort. I sit in the Leap everyday and really like the seat pad. I find Crandalls to be completely different than the Leap or Amia pad. It’s thick, soft and has a straight edge around the entire thing. It’s goes against the basic principles of ergonomic cushion design. It may solve the problem some people find with the seat being firm but certainly opens the door for additional problems that come with a poorly designed seat pad. -Ryan
@@btodtv weird since I found that I can endure longer hours with the cintessa than the leap since the leap has bad reclining range
I find it interesting you guys rate your own chair as C tier lol. Very honest I guess
I feel like you creep foward too much in the herman miller chairs. Its hard to get in a comfortable posture to use your keyboard and mouse to do work. I have a couple of herman miller chairs in my garage. And I am always using the recline/tilt tension a little bit to get into a good typing position the because the upright posture sucks in it.
I think avg height of people would be 5’4” to 5’9”condense more to 5’6”. I think some issue with the shoulder blade and frame hitting the back wouldn’t be too much of an issue. But I don’t know your guys height lol
5'9 (Ryan), 6' (Greg) and 6'2" (Robert) -Greg
Between the eurotech Vera and the om yes which one would y’all say is more comfortable? I’m trying to decide between the 2
I like the back and recline better on the Vera but I like the seat and arms a bit more on the Yes. Kinda depends on what you value most. -Ryan
