Ironically I have a pre-recorded video about cameras lol, anywho. Watch the whole video, it’s pretty important.
you are an artist before a creator and you are a creator before a guy uploading videos to youtube. For the other side, you are a doer and not doing is not fulfilling you and probably coming down to this situation. I am proud you dropped this out and i agree with you about all the gear video reviews after a while you have to back to your core values of why you started this journey because this is what is inspired you. It is a damn difficult to balance but at the end of the day artists need to re invented themselves every single time and this is not nothing to do with camera gear videos and you know it haha Bro, Back to your roots and Do it for yourself first. Peter mckinnon said in some of the last videos: one for you one for them i think is pretty valuable lessons for everybody putting content right now, Respect my brother
You inspired me... to begin filming.... I don’t really know you... but I wish I did.... my mentor once told me it’s ok to show your mistakes... and do the thing you like and the thing you don’t.... because your feelings switch... and success.... is measured by the body of work over a lifetime.... you are a storyteller. The world is watching and listening.... go head tell our story
My honest opinion is you really should do a short film called THE CZcamsR to show the struggle.
But I think personally your short film will be dope 💯
DNICE FILMS This is genius
Thank you really appreciate it.
I follow you since I started doing Music Videos and learned alot from your Tutorials and Stuff.
Thank you for that🙏🙏🙏🙏
Keep up and stay save.
Greetings from Germany
I just dont like dealing with cheap artists who pretend to be rich in their videos but don't have the budget to pay me 🤬
big bro can i give you half now and half later ass niggas
Yeah have designer clothes yet when comes time to pay some how broke??
Citygrafixfilms facts 🤣🤣
TJSN-photography those people are the artist who don’t take it seriously we know those clients who pay up front to the dollar and some others who talk this in songs but don’t wanna pay the video guy who they asked for a visual. I wonder if they try to low ball their barber too?😂😂
@@booboosims 😂😂😂
What killed my vibe is the artist coming to me with $50k in fake bills but can’t afford a $300 video.. I love filming, but some stuff just gets old
Bro, I've seen that so many times- Broke-ass artists (and there is nothing wrong with being broke) who portray this lavish lifestyle but can't/won't even cover the bare minimum for the team of people who'll help them create that image.
Facts
Yup
#dead
Monney agreed
Swear bro...the money is funny..I'm bringing 10 grand worth of gear to a 300 dollar shoot lol
SAVAGE SHUTTER it’s super hard. But if you’re good at what you do and love it you’ll let it take you further
This is me, we all need money, fuck passion and all that, passion excel when there is money behind it
SAVAGE SHUTTER Yeah and that hurts bro. I work out of Chicago, DC and ATL be looking like a straight come up for someone
Bro it's terrible, not this bad for me but i feel it. Just get outside of the box with your ideas, a lot of music videos look the same now with gear becoming more accessible so people don't wanna pay.
I just said the exact same thing at my last shoot!
You’re thinking about this from the wrong perspective bro. People aren’t “not watching your music videos” because they aren’t dope. People don’t watch music videos because they don’t care about the artist. Nobody cares about the artists you’ve made videos with on your channel bro. The music isn’t good. We aren’t fans of T Crooks. So why would we watch his videos? If you did the exact same videos with artists people care about you’d get millions of views.
somebody had to say it...he needs to stop working with the up and comers with no name and get placed with some bigger artist...all facts
This is true. YC's video work is top notch, but a lot of these rappers are not. There is an abundance of mediocre rappers
Right bro, i thing the same 🔥🔥
Gunz has a point
Correct!!
Relatable AF 😫 this was a vibe man!
Creative Ryan 💯💯
We hit the ceiling thats all the potential to grow is still there we just gotta figure out how to get that bigger bag thats all but its kinda hard man i felt this video. My wife and i were talking about the same thing a while ago.
For real..
This the Real shit Creatives gotta speak more on... Respect
I think we can all relate with the same thing. Not feeling fulfilled. Appreciate your honesty
Appreciate you checking the video out!
This was real. Keep trekkin' you'll find your feet again.
Wow man, I really respect the honesty here
Yeah i really just needed to get this out into the world.
The biggest problem is that everyone is charging way too cheap.
Jt Hollins I totally agree!!💯. My vision and time is worth way more. Some of these videographer charges $300. Wtf!!! They are definitely destroying the art.
That's the FACTS we are facing as well
Its artist, they want hype willams music videos for $300. As soon as you say $1500, $3000, $5000 they just go up the block and find the guy who does it for $200
@@FireStormTV Exactly, they go to the guy that charges cheap, imagine if that guy up the block charged a lot more
And they don’t respect your time! Always showing up late and not being prepared. Then they want you to film them in front of a wall or abandoned building 🤦🏾♂️.
Do what you want to do, imma support you either way. You have talent, and talent is talent no matter what.
I Appreciate you!
Screw talent. This guy had talent when he started, now he's made of 95% Skills and 5% talent. He's amazing because of how he built his craft and himself!!
I FEEL THIS IN MY SOUL. I’ve been doing photography for years and I’ve lost all interest in it within the past year. I’ve spent years and thousands, buying gear and learning all I could in order to be the best photographer I could be. In the end no one fully appreciates your work neither do they want to pay for experience and quality. No one appreciates your work the way you appreciate your work. You want the acceptance because you’re a creator and you want to feel valued. I’ve recently restarted and ventured over to videos. I built a computer and bought an A7iii to get things into gear and it’s like even the small things I’ve created I still feel the same. I thought creating visuals I’d have more to look forward to but yet it’s like no one gives a fuck beside the ones that are doing business with you and even than they don’t value you like they should because they’re not willing to pay what you’re charging. 😭😒 I’ve only just started but this growing desire to be great and no one even notices the effort or energy you put into something hurts
We just can’t ignore the elephant in the room here. Rappers are just unprofessional in general. They show off all this money and consistently ask for discounts. They show up late, never prepared it’s just all bad. I’ve shot a country and rock video before and they were real professional, willing to pay, great experience. It just sucks that 95% of artist are rappers. No creativity, no ideas, same repetitive videos. It’s to the point where I only do it for money now🤷🏾 but it is what it is
Ye keep taking money and upgrade
Check out the Artist Bangi/Bangvellii films CZcams channel and let me know what you 🤔
As much as I hate to agree with this because I love Hip Hop, I must agree because it's the truth. These are the same things that made me not want to produce music for rappers. People are giving away services for free and it has devalued music and video production. Plus the unprofessional artist one has to deal with gets old eventually. People will be 2 hours late for a studio session/shoot with no regard to any other clients you may have booked. It really gets old.
Whenever you’re ready to shoot that short film or commercial, if you send out a crew call I will definitely apply for it
Having no budget correlates with everything you said. No budget no money to really be creative. No budget you feel under worthed and over worked . No budget you feel like you aren't reaching your potential. You have to do what will fulfill you regardless of budget . Do what fulfills you and don't limit yourself. Don't allow your work to feel like work especially when you're under paid. What you're missing is the thrill of the chase .
100% I just miss being creative and creating something lol.
@@YCImaging I know this feeling all too well . Especially being in RVA were there is allot of mimicking and no real money to even do that most of the time . The only reason why I mix and master , do videos , photos and, graphics is for that very reason . Creatives need multiple outlets to create .
And what about the times you add $ to what they paid thinking this go get the look I need and it just tank smh...
@@demic336 Or something on set breaks and you cant afford to fix it because of budget restraints .
This is a vibe that I've been feeling since before being isolated. I'm not a photographer or videographer in any way, shape or form - it's just a peak interest for me. I'm a barber. I want to do something different to feel full and happy. I'd like to be doing something that nobody else has done yet. Feeling a bit lost myself.
Appreciate you being honest. That's the best way.
Do what you have never done... to get what you have never gotten
Gosh, are you in my head??? Like dude, you literally spoke my mind. We're in similar positions in terms of the creative journey. All my thoughts are what you spoke (well I started charging more few years back). Thankfully, CZcams pays me a bit more so helps a little. The CZcams views definitely is a knock down. I have tons of behind the scenes, am not even excited to put out anymore. CZcams is killing our motivation. As a director, I feel you in terms of being stale. Men, in summary everything you spoke, is ME.
You're not the reason why you're not getting views for the music videos. It's because the artist has a low fan base brother.
For example: my video guy is amazing At what he does but I have a low fan base where when we first worked I was only getting a hundred views every five months or so.
It was up to me as a music artist to step my game up, buy Facebook advertisements and grow my fan base so I can get more views.
It's not much of a change but now I get a thousands views on my videos after 5 months. It was up to me to grow as a artist and learn how to work social media.
you are absolutely awesome And don't forget that brother.Watching your tutorials is the reason why I have two videos shot and directed by myself
Yo I 100% feel you on your outlook on camera gear comparisons and reviews, practically word for word! I used to play a lot of music myself, and have an artist I work with who is one of my best friends. We work out his music videos with him letting me have creative control for experimentation, and all he has to do is pay for my shopping list of what we need. I immediately foresaw this scenario you’re in after doing my first handful of music videos, and immediately started appreciating my work into the short film realm, because as someone who used to hustle directly into the music world, I already knew the truest fact that most artists are just straight up broke, and not just broke, but don’t even have their financial priorities straight when they request media services. I believe personally you’re gonna fall in love with the narrative shorts, and honestly, you’re one of my biggest inspirations for making my new CZcams and getting into weekly content creation, just being you. I’ll always be following you’re content, even if you become a LOL Twitch streamer, just because you’re a phenomenal filmmaker who doesn’t feel the need to talk loud as shit and use hand-swords in every sentence! Much love, from a fan who feels you, - Calvin.
I literally was JUST talking about this..thats why i'm trying to not become stale and try my hand in diff platforms, music videos, commercials, short films and now even gaming. Especially with so much competition and thousands of similar content it gets cloudy real quick..besides the fact everyone wants something for free.
Me too! Like a few hours ago having this same conversation with my friends! :(
I felt this video on a super personal level especially about sittin here talkin bout cameras and shit you dont really care about that much, you in ya bag bro and youll forever be in yo bag, go crazy gang I respect this vid and the feel of it. I see the locs too!!! yessirrrr
In so many cases, too much of any one thing can lead to this feeling. I created a career and habit of rotating from Graphic Design to Motion Graphics to Photography to Videography (i.e. weddings, corporate vids, music videos) to Music Production/Music Recording. You are a skilled individual so you will naturally migrate to something different with ease I'm sure.
Preach brotha, great video. I spent 7 years straight shooting music, all hip hop videos and stopped once the budgets went south and then went to weddings where I was banking and once I made enough to branch out I did and the rest is history. Stay inspiring the world bro.
you just spit a whole bunch of truth. Getting into that habit of repetition makes people comfortable, and that causes creatives to get frustrating because we always want to challenge ourselves and switch things up. I completely understand how you feel man, creating content has become oversaturated and it takes away from making something true to its essence. A lot of people want to come up with something just to keep up with a schedule or algorithm, that it doesn't become about the craft or the passion. Good for you for taking a break, you deserve it for all the work you put in. 💪
Thank you bro. We appreciate youre openess. Its not easy to acknowledge the hardships of being a music video director. I watch anything you put out. Love bro💪🏽
I love it when you just sit and open up about your thoughts as a content creator and businessman. This is real content that is very relatable to so many people. Keep up the dope content bruh.
Wise choice sir. Been there, many of my fellow filmmakers get to same ceiling. All valid points. Time to embrace your chapter change. We should all grow. Good luck brother. Appreciate your true honesty. Be true to you.
Trap Music is killing the music video business. The videos don’t require any creativity, so they’ll shoot with an Ametur whose only been shooting for a couple weeks because he charges the least. Not because the quality of the video. As long as he knows how to throw some ugly cheesy effects in there, they’re willing to work with them. Since The market is over saturated with these cameramen, I had to lower my prices to get better business. Also doesn’t help that 90% of these dudes make trap music. I feel your pain bro
thanks for sharing this with us bro, it's funny how many of us look up to you and wanna be in YOUR POSITION but you have own down moment just like the rest of us. some people might see this video as negative but to me this a very positive video and uplifting "knowing that we are not ALONE". At the end of the day we are still Humans and this is a phase we all go through. YOU'LL GET BACK YOUR DRIVE AND LOVE MUSIC VIDEOs & SOON ENOUGH YOU'LL START CREATING THE CONTENTS YOU WANT!!! PEACE AND LOVE to YOU and all CREATORS of the world.
I really appreciate you for being honest and upfront! All the best for your upcoming projects! I'm excited for you to push yourself
yeah shooting 'hood' videos is no fun.. 90% of music videos I shoot people just want to look hard, rich surrounded by girls etc.. Then you have to work with that personality which often is some wannabe gangster. People who can't be bothered to go shoot at good locations and just want you to put loads of ugly effects in.. it's funny you upload this exactly as I decided to stop pursuing music videos..
unless you're lucky enough to work with someone who is on a label, or someone who has some kind of creative vision then you're rarely gonna be satisfied with what you create
Joe Wade - Exactly. Then they don’t wanna pay & complain about every aspect of the video,
I wouldnt want to show a portfolio with a bunch of pants on the ground, weed, thongs, and fake money everywhere to some producer in Oklahoma or Tennessee , or a company like Chicifila or Home Depot. Its cool to have all that gangsta shit to show those type of clients but what you gonna show the Jewish Cookie company looking for a commercial, more importantly who's gonna pay more?
@@tooshmart6669 THAT'S BIG FACTS 😂😂😂😂
I've been asked many times to shoot music videos...will NOT fucking do it...same with weddings...CLIENTS are too damn cheap...and many run away when it comes time to pay up. It's funny...I put my rates out up front...with my resume and references...demand 50 percent in a deposit up front...with nothing delivered until the final payment...let the clients look at the footage as many times as possible...even ask what changes they want. But NOTHING gets turned over I'm payed.
And the more I do that? It keeps the lying ass thieves away. I had too many friends scammed by these moronic, lying-ass Fathers...who want to spoil their daughters sooooo bad with a high end wedding video...but then bail when it comes time to pay. To hell with them.
Man this is all facts bro
I respect the transparency in videos like this man. Totally get where you are coming from too, its hard to not feel fulfilled from what you are doing. But foreal the content youve been putting out, specifically the ones you mentioned are next level. Def would want to see more like that. Keep it up bro
Listen to me man and I'm telling you....YOU NEED TO WORK WITH ROCK AND METAL BANDS ASAP. They're more open minded when it comes to concepts for projects and they're more able and willing to pay your rates bc there's like 4 or 5 members in a band all throwing in on the project. And since rock and metal is such a diverse genre, you'll be getting all different kinds of artists to work with. By taking the advice you've been giving over the past 3 years, I've been able to make a decent amount of money per month when it comes to music videos on the local level.
Don't get me wrong, all in all I feel what you're saying in this video 100%. But if you're still wanting to stay in the game, come over to this side of music video creating, make some money and take on a new perspective. Much MUCH love to you and yours fam! You've been a huge inspiration to me. You saved my life and I really mean that shit.
you're right, but maybe he isn't into rock/metal.
Bro you're inspirational in every way, I think you will find a way back into it with your mindset. Thanks for being so open about your challenges and your inner state about them, I hope you'll never leave this platform
You be speaking for me brother
TheyCallMeCotton facts
We gotta get back on a set together when this is all over with.
Absolutely love the transparency in your videos bro. Having recently started on the CZcams platform, you've honestly been one of my main driving forces behind why I create content. Life is a funny thing and you can't please everyone. You do you and the rest will all fall in place. Big ups my dude!
Express yourself.... push your boundaries... tell a story... break free.. film a narrative...
All about pushing the boundaries!
YCImaging from you.... I want to see shorts.... docs.... mini film.... full lengths..... scripted ... run and gun... I want just more from you...
There’s a symbiotic relationship between the filmmaking process and the youtube tutorial and education content you’re making. It’s similar to being a musician where we’re used to having the direct relationship with the fans while they are experiencing our music live in a venue, we want to use video to add another dimension to experiencing our music. I dig that there is variety here, and that you are bringing an open heart to your channel. Thanks for sharing!
Shoutout to the Director Merch, I rock mine weekly. Def cant wait for more. Thanks for sharing this video with us
Definitely more on the way, I don't wanna drop anything right now while people are going through tough times. But soon! I appreciate the support, you're one I can honestly always count on!
Appreciate the honesty, humbleness, and vulnerability on your channel. This isn’t easy to put out like this. Keep up the amazing work 👌🏽
People asked me a long time ago "why don't you film music videos"... my answer was always "because cats are broke".
I hate when people try to play the "help a brother out" stuff. Man, EFF that! I'm an artist. Im not starving but I'm not cutting myself short.
I would rather do a labor of love for free than do a music video for pennies.
They outfit cost more than what they paid for the video 😂. It's alot to consider now filming music videos everybody got cameras & someone is charging next to nothing smh....
@@demic336 they want to floss in front of the camera but can't afford to pay the "camera guy"...
I've been burned a few times. EFF THAT.
Unless you are an artist with a budget, kick rocks.
Hey man, I just got into filmmaking and bought my first camera a few months ago. I've been binging a ton of great advice on youtube and I've plowed through a bunch of your old vids. This video is the one that made me hit the subscribe button. It's really hard to talk about burnout and feeling repetitive and directionless, so I really appreciate anytime a creator opens up about that. Recognizing it and realizing you need to make a change has to be one of the hardest things to do in any creative field. I think you've got a ton of talent and I'm really excited to see where you go from here.
Honestly, your work has inspired me in terms of becoming a music director and i'm watching all the way from Kenya. maybe you should try exploring Kenya when all this is done to get more exposure on the music genre on this side.
Every artist goes through a creative rut.. been through it many times. What helps me is if i just go out and shoot things for ME and nobody else. It helps me understand what gets me hyped up creatively again. Stay up bro you got this.
Honestly bro this is an easy fix .... you said it yourself on the beginning of the video .. you said that you didn’t want to do ANYTHING else besides videos bro .. that there PUT YOURSELF IN A BOX . You gotta be hungry and adventurous enough to try something new like a model look book or film a fashion show, or make a cinematic documentary, or just go to a different style of music
I know because I’m a fashion designer we have to switch it up and be versatile
Wow this is so raw! Thank you for being so candid. As someone who is just starting out, from what I've heard I can totally see this happening to anyone in this industry! There's no money in it, it's purely for creative passion and there sure is nothing creative about being stuck in a repetitive cycle. I'm keen to see where you are and what you're up to now!
Passion is the ruler of everything. Feeling change; do what makes you feel fulfilled. Your true fanbase isn't going anywhere.
That's dead ass why I had to leave this shit alone for a while plus the artists was making me HATE music videos
Been there and done that!!!!! You have outgrown your entry-level position as a creative...REAL TALK! It’s time to step your game up. That’s all I’m hearing.... what’s stopping you? You have the talent. You’re no longer inspired because you’re way doper than you were a year or two a three ago. It is time! What I recommend you do is seek representation. That’s how you will get to the bigger talent and get to the next level. Seek out a Manager and eventually an Agent. Agents will be harder to come by unless someone walks you in the door or you create something dope for a national artist that gives you a shot. BE FEARLESS!
CZcams is weird right now man, the views have dropped like crazy in this genre. I feel the same way as you on most of what you said.
THIS is the best content that i’ve ever seen coming from your channel!! I think you sharing honestly what you’re going through as a professional is so much more valuable than what camera you like 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. Thanks for sharing
Loved your videos for a while, I draw a lot of inspiration from you. I’m a family man as well so I understand what you’re saying in this video. Created another business to take care of my family so I can do creative projects and photography when I can. You don’t sound stupid. If I can suggest something; maybe you
Can create a class for young creatives that need your knowledge, I know I would pay for it. I have you transition/lug kits already... keep pushing we need more young black success stories. 🇧🇸
I appreciate the support, I definitely have some course ideas in the works.
YCImaging yeah no doubt king.
Men I really appreciate this talks I go through the same battles in my head everyday, keep creating brother, I'll be watching
I know quite a few people who do music videos for hip hop and all of them echo the same sentiment. 1 - they're not fond of getting guns pointed at them while filming. I get it. Every dude is trying to show how gangsta they are and need to have their gun in the video but no one wants to have a gun pointed at them whether you think they're empty or not. That's how accidents happen. 2 - One of my peeps got into some shit because he shot music videos for a two gang sets that started warring with each other. Who needs that shit? You don't go through that bullshit in other genres of music. 3 - No one wants to pay even a minuscule amount of $200 yet they're rapping about how much money they have and will pay for the new Jordans without hesitation. smh. I got into filmmaking to make videos for my own indie label and got more interested in making short films. Haven't made a music video yet and not really interested in doing so.
its growth, you have outgrown that level as a creator.... you can always go back & do it tho because its what you love to do.
especially the "repetitive" part you talked about, thats how I feel all day, have for a while. I see alot of other "directors" just making the same video over and over and I dont ever wanna do that. I wanna be creative. all that artists want is cookie cutter videos and thats not me, and not worth the time or the little money they wanna pay for them.
Bro I appreciate you so much. Lately I have been consuming your videos because I’ve felt stuck with my video career. I’ve always had mad respect for you but lately I been feeling the struggle and these videos have been clutch.
I think we love YCImaging more than your clients
This conversation isn't something you hear very often and it's very refreshing, after seeing this I felt very relieved. As creatives I believe we live to evolve and create for ourselves. CZcams has defiantly helped but frequently it gets confused, CZcams is not a solutions it's just another tool. I defiantly support the fact that a creative can't just do one thing, repetition goes against the creative nature.
Thank you for this message, keep evolving, keeps creating!
Not at all.......CZcams aint sharing the content
I feel the same way. I live in Milwaukee & people don’t wanna pay for anything. You end up having to fight over pennies because everyone has to charge around the same price to compete. I recently started focusing on shooting for businesses. Commercials, product shoots, etc. Limiting yourself to business helps you work with a “better” crowd & they usually have bigger budgets. From my perspective, it’s hard to make big money doing music videos unless you’re in Chicago, LA, ATL, Miami, etc. Those ppl have cash & are willing to pay.
Well actually for 95% of artists and creators there is no money in the music business. The music business is in a complete and absolute Financial depression or worse. so what you are saying applies to all facets of the so-called music industry. very sad
What????! Its a billion dollar industry!!

Definitely feel you. With this whole quarantine thing, now is definitely the time for you to explore your creative side and get back to that which makes you happiest in creating. I was bogged down with doing work for other people and "bringing their creativity to life" and am thankful for this opportunity to create for myself. As a matter of fact, stay tuned because I'm dropping content for that very shortly! More power to you good sir, keep creating!
Lmao who tf films a brick wall and zooms to 800% 😂
But real shit you’re talking bout. I feel like we all get the same feelings, when things start to get mundane, Which is easy in the trap genre. Hope everything go up from here, can’t wait to see a short film from you

Thank you for your honesty, when I started music videos in like 2017 i used your channel to help me get the basics. I got bored with music videos and i did stop watching alot of the content here because it was repetitive. I love this right here where youre just open with us. I as a creator completely understand every point you make...no one wants to make something that keeps being over looked
I didn’t know you’re from the 757. Shouldve put 2 and 2 together when I seen you shoot Tcrooks videos, lol. Thats wassup tho, do yo thang homie ✊🏾

I really appreciate your honestly. We’ve all had those questions and doubts. Keep rocking. You’re talented you’ll find your passion.
Thanks for sharing your struggles YC. I think a lot of us can relate. Get out there and get inspired, switch up whatever you need to to stay creative and we'll be here to support fam.
The music videos got you to this point but we Love following your story, wherever it takes you. I come for your insight, that could be about anything really. Good luck on that short!
Thanks for this one YC, I found myself in a similar situation taking about the same time away from music videos and when I got back to it I'm trying to balance my own personal projects with client work I get. I completely feel the frustration when you put so much effort into something for little to no feedback or results to show for it. Looking forward to what you bring next bro
love the authenticity of this video man, good to see someone in this field speaking about this.
Yo, hitting the nail on the head bro! Main reason why I never got into music video work. Documentary work I feel is important. Feeling fulfilled is underrated. Tell a story. That's what'll get your juices going. Outside of your music video work, that doc piece you did on the clothing brand and the creation of the video behind it was one of the best I've seen from you and on youtube in general. Also, even at your NYC meetup, realize you have a platform both on/off youtube. Try not to get discouraged by the viewership - people are watching regardless! This time period is getting us all in our feelings. Gotta check out the podcast too, totally forgot about that.
I hear you. Time for something new. Like you said maybe it’s time to do a short film, commercial, doc. That’s what I want to do!
I love how this is so unscripted.
Major respect for everything you said man. I subscribed to you a long time ago because I'm following you for you and what makes you passionate and fulfilled. Do whatever you want to do, and I will watch. Don't listen to what other people tell you should do, I am so hyped that you said you dont feel fulfilled talking about content you don't actually do. A LOT of "mainstream" CZcamsrs are doing this, and i just appreciate that your going to keep your content authentic and experience-based. I'd rather watch CZcamsrs like you, were you upload high-quality SELFLESS videos with PURPOSE, reflected on your experiences going out and actually creating films that fulfill you, then some of the "mainstream" CZcamsrs that I kinda skip through because ALL they upload is camera reviews, product reviews, vlogs, blah blah, you start to wonder if they even make films anymore... Thanks for keeping it honest and genuine.
Thank you for being open and transparent 🙏🏼 Hard to come across on many social media platforms! Cheers stay safe!
Sometimes you have to step away from it all to get to a place of understanding. Refresh your mind, figure out why you love it. Figure out things you can do to make these videos or projects different... I'm excited to see what comes from this break. I think we all received a break to figure these things out. Good luck man!
This might be our realest moment. I respect your position YC I’m with the others I’ll support you either way. Just keep experimenting, don’t give up. Remember why you started
I always appreciate your honesty. I look forward to watching and supporting your short film this year. If you could a BTS/Vlog on that process that would be amazing.
I have my 9 and 11 year old grandsons watching your vids. They know your name and all about you. Keep roll'n!
1000% know where you are coming from. I've been doing videography work for a long time and it really took a huge toll on me. While it helped pay the bills, I wasn't getting any creative fulfillment out of it. I just started directing again for the first time in 5 years, I made a music video low budget-- great crew and singer, and we made it work -- I'm 100% proud of it. I realized that it's now or never and I need to pursue my dreams of making features and short films, because life is too short. Anyway I'm rambling, but I hope you pursue your passions and find happiness in what your doing. You're an amazing filmmaker who clearly cares about quality and hard work, and it shows. I can't wait to see what you bring to narrative filmmaking!
Don't force anything you're not feeling, the viewers can sense the difference. Surround yourself with other creatives. Sometimes just hearing others speak passionately about their craft ignites that fire in us again. This lockdown is affecting everyone, you're not alone. Maybe schedule a zoom meeting with others and talk about ideas or creative projects they're working on. Maybe you'll receive some inspiration! Your production quality, content, and personality are so raw. Whatever road you take, best believe i'm here to support you! Best of luck to you man.
Been watching your stuff for a long time now man and I have so much respect for you dude. I went through the same thing a couple years ago when I was filming hiphop dance videos and felt the exact same way you do now. Keep pushing man and something will click!!
You inspire so many I’m glad that you didn’t give up! The music videos you do are 🔥 you’re short will be amazing don’t think negative.
Respect my guy!!! I can relate so much!! I never thought I'd lose the passion for this. It started to feel like a regular 9-5. Creatively my work was suffering due to the loss of passion for it.
This is real talk. I really appreciate you opening up! Things you said are very relatable!
You are bigger than CZcams. I have been watching you for years. You as a creative, passionate about what it is that you do and that you shared it on a regular basis has been incredibly inspirational, thought-provoking and educational on a number of levels. Where you are is great (you don't see it yet) because you are in a rut and know you need change. I too have felt that on a number of projects where I have been consistent but was concerned with change. Where ever your motivational circle is, you might need to reach out and consider what you are actually good at and not just what it is you are passionate about. When I found 'purpose', it allowed me to realize what I was good at and it created a whole new level of passion to do what I do. I look forward to continuing to watch you grow, wherever that is.
You good bro. Whatever direction you and this channel takes best believe I'm there to support it. Love your idea of creating content about new techniques and stuff. Don't let this phase be a deterrent for your success. Keep your head up bro.
thumbs up! not many artists are honest enough to say that they are into a loop of repetitive content and break with it. Respect!
Young brother, I've been where you are now. I've been at this since 1996 (Music videos on Films, TV shows, indie films, commercials (both local and national), corperate gigs, documentary) I mean, you name it, I've done it. So speaking from experience, you've graduated from music videos to Commercials, documentaries, short films or web series. You just don't want to accept it because music video is your comfort zone. But young man, trust me, your creativity is pushing you towards actual projects like i said before. You just have to stop over thinking it and start writing 2 minutes to 5 minutes shorts or as you said, do a documentary or do a web series. I guarantee you, it will be like a rush and your creative juice will start to flow again. Forget going to another genre of music. You've out grown music videos. Just accept it and start the next chapter of your career. One luv...
I feel you YC so much! Ive been shooting music videos since 2015 accumulating 40 + million views working with all type of artist! Last year i told myself o more music videos and it started making me move to other fields and other things! When making art, making the same things becomes boring even if its new things your doing. Its over saturated a little and branching to something new will feed that hunger again! Much love G
This video HONESTLY really spoke to me, because I've been feeling the same exact way about the way I shoot and edit my event promotional and recap videos. And I've just been trying to find something else to bring back that passion that I had when I first started about 9-10 years ago. Ironically, Music Videos was where I was thinking about moving towards as far as challenging my creativity, and that was all from watching your channel and learning from your channel, for a while now. But I DEFINITELY get where you're coming from and how you're feeling. This industry has become way too overly saturated with "camera holders" who are not genuinely interested in the CRAFT, but are just making it difficult for us CREATIVES, to grasp that passion in continuing being creative and not being appreciated or recognized for it.
I felt every word man. Music videos are great but sometimes it’s annoying doing the same thing over and over again I find myself creating a variety of content so that I don’t get bored
I think a lot of creatives share the same sentiment. I get sick of shooting videos with no real substance. Story telling, plots, something that tells a story is what gets my wheels turnin’. I don’t blame you for feeling the way you do because a lot of us that are in this ecosystem feel you. Keep your head up champ, you’re dope at the end of day!
Well said dude! I just think of CZcams as a way to document what I’m creating. So the fulfilling thing to me is the cars and motorcycles I work on and CZcams is just the vehicle that shows that passion and fulfillment I have to other people.
I’ve been going through the same thing. I hate posting just to post. It’s tough as a creative when your art is also a business. People fall in love with the style that you have and as much as you want to change it you don’t have the time to because you have to shoot what the client wants.
