      I loved his movies in the 90's and early 2000's. However I noticed all of his movies had the same thing. Steven coming up for the native Indian population and the baddy is always some western Oil tycoon that wants the native's land and then Steven bumbling about 'saving the environment', much like those luny Al Gore climate alarmists.

    I had no idea what a fascinating, real person this guy is. Like, wow, he passed the mother-of-all Speech checks against Seagal's beliefs.. then had the stones to go back in and record those lines, and did so well enough to get Keenan Wayans' chuckling. And how he slipped back IN to that little role form all those years ago! This. This is an actor.

      Interesting to note that he was in Groundhog Day, a movie about Bill Murray repeating the same day.
      After having a number of takes with Bill doing various antics, when he had his conversation with the Director he had to be thinking about, “Doing strange things in a movie that are unexpected? I was in a movie with Bill Murray who was repeating the same day. I got this!!!”

    You gotta give props to whoever edited this interview. Going through all Seagal movies clips that capture his action, moments of wisdom, musical talent in a matter of minutes. Meanwhile this actor is narrating. That Choir Hymn kicking in is just a great personal touch. I replay this constantly. Testament to the quality and story telling. Quite masterful. It makes Steven larger than life.

      Replace Seagal in his biggest movie (Under Siege) with a real movie star (i.e. Bruce Willis) and the movie does far better at the box office. With the rest of the cast, a B movie star of the time like Thomas Ian Griffith gets a similar box office.

If you replace him with Thomas Ian Griffith and market him just as hard, the movie does just as well (and Griffith being a better actor has a real career once he gets the big break he never got in real life)

    Stephen Tobolowsky is one of those great character actors that has been in dozens of movie and has guest starred on hundreds of TV shows.
    But who very few people outside the industry know by name.
    He was terrific as the Very Persistent Insurance Salesman in Groundhog Day, which gets a lot of play every year around this time.
    It was fun (but not surprising) to hear his Seagal story.

    My grandfather was a colonel in the army and a well known author and military strategist. He met Steven Seagal once because he wanted to ask him questions about different weapons for a movie he was doing. According to my grandfather, he acted like a big shot and was pretty much a tool.

      Yea, I would say anything goes in a majority of his movies. Actually I never seen more than 5 minutes of any of his movies, because he looked like he didn't have any acting ability from that 5 minutes I'd even seen. And other critic's said that since he tried writing all his own movies, they were so confusing that the directors basically said, Whatever, and went with it just to get it over with and done.

    Seagal is crazy on set. Several times he mumbled so bad on line delivery that the studio would dub his lines with a voice actor who tried to emulate Steven's voice. Sometimes Steven would not be in set so they had a body double stand in for the simple pick up shots. You can see these flubs on a lot of his B movies especially after 2010.

    Editing in the holy music was awesome. I love Stephen Seagal for being so unintentionally funny, and I love this actor Stephen Tobolowsky for gaslighting the hell out of most unintentionally hilarious actor, and telling a great story.
    I don't really know any Seagal movies. I assume he's in some pretty bad movies. But he's in some fantastic stories.

      There’s also John Leguizamo’s story about him where on the first day of filming Executive Decision he tried to dominate the rest of the cast and crew by saying he was in command and his word was law, John rightfully laughed at him and Steven rammed his neck with his elbow and forced him into a corner. What’s funnier is apparently Steven went to a screening of it and started having a mental breakdown when the audience cheered at his death scene

    I,my son and brother met Steven Seagal on the island of Oahu (Honolulu) 10 yrs ago at a resort,he was with his entourage,i recognized him called his name and said hi,he stopped,posed for pictures with us,asked if we were visiting or live here,told us to enjoy our stay at the resort,even though my son was the only visitor,didn't rush off,was totally cool,so i can honestly say he showed us respect and showed great character.

If you have a lot of assault allegations from numerous people with little to no connection to each other over a period of many years, that is a large cause for concern. That does not happen to everybody. Jackie Chan, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris, Bruce Lee, Cynthia Rothrock, and Michael Jai White don't have numerous assault allegations against them, sexual or otherwise. Steven Seagal is widely reported by numerous and varied sources to not only be a massive bully on the set, but also a Harvey Weinstein level of sexual predator and a domestic abuser. There's the old adage about smoke indicating fire, but I digress. The point is, this isn't something that can just be shrugged off. It is not negligible.
