Don't react to the trolls at all Steve, they get something out of it that keeps them coming. If you drive an old car they call you a loser, if you eat meat you get called murderer, and if you drink a beer on screen they call you an alcoholic. There is some serious amount of hate out there. I don't envy the guys that do hunting or catch n cook on their channel for their comment section. I really enjoy seeing you do the step 2 and so does the vast majority of your viewers. Cheers!

I love your videos. They're fun to watch and I learn things from them. At the beginning of the year my wife was in the hospital for a week and I had to cook for my kids. I had never cooked anything other than eggs so I just did what I saw you do and it worked. My kids actually liked what I made. So I appreciate your videos.
Hi Steve, came home this morning from working night shift and was delighted to see another video of yours. Been a long time subscriber. Love seeing a fellow Edmontonian, roughly the same age as me with some success on CZcams. Also a former gas fitter / plumber by trade. Went through the fixing furnaces as well at NAIT, Patricia Campus. Kind of wish that I kept it up. Love camping and even fishing around northern Alberta, so I obviously had to subscribe. Seriously, Steve, don't let those negative posters bring you down. Every single CZcams creator has them and I know it's a little discouraging. To me, it's jealousy since they don't have a channel of their own with caring supporters. Just ignore them and keep in mind you have a lot more love and support than negativity following you around. I also respect the fact that you are down to earth, not here to get money quick by superchat or other paid subscriptions like most greedy CZcams creators do. As soon as I see that, I turn off their channel. Keep up the great work and like you said, I'll keep my expectations low but so far you've never disappointed. Take care and stay safe.

There's a great option in CZcams that allows you to "hide user from channel", it's great because you don't see their comments, the rest of us don't see their comments either but they don't know that, so they spend all day posting trolling comments on your videos oblivious to the fact that nobody sees them, included you lol.

Well, mean and troll comments are really just a part of the internet culture. In the end you can't really let them get to you. In the end you are doing something successful and there is always someone jealous. There is a reason to take pride in the work you do. A lot of people enjoy what you do. There is always people into camping, hiking and outdoors activities. I don't think you have to worry. As long as you want to do this thing then I believe you are good. Though I do understand it's a pretty big adjustment for someone to adjust to the fame that a sucessful channel can bring. Just stick with it moving one step at a time and you will get there. Just have to give it a little time. Not everyone is successful but you get to know that not only where you succeeding you have also made a big impression on other people's lives. A lot of people grew an interest in camping and related activities because of your videos. I believe you will do fine.
Camping will never get boring, so I hope your into this for the long haul! Also a camping cookbook?! I will buy! You have given me lots of ideas for simplifying the prep of camp meals, even when I have a 3 burner stove, gas grill, coleman white gas stove and a fire at my disposal, some things are not nearly as easy to prep at camp.
Your vids seem to resonate with people like me. You also seem to 'get' how lucky you are to have met your 'beautiful wife'. You are blessed and know it. I've done it hard before.
