Ona Judge was the biracial slave of Martha Washington, the wealthiest woman in Virginia. Despite living what would arguably have been considered a comfortable life for a slave at that time, Ona, or Oney, as President George Washington referred to her, was determined to live the independent life that the American founding fathers had fought for.
