That’s because positive only training doesn’t work for many (most?) dogs. Take a look at ‘Beckmans training’ for the ABSOLUTE BEST trainer on CZcams …..🇬🇧
I use them for slowing my dogs down because they have a habitat if eating too quickly, and sometimes they throw it up
Yup, they are great for slowing down eating!
This is really helpful - my dogs has a giant snout so many puzzle bowls don't really work for him :'). I'm trying to build up a collection of slow feeders for him and my smaller dog but it's hard to find ones that he can actually use without smashing his face into the bowl

When they inhale their food and throw it back up , puzzle bowls are awesome ! Also they love it !
sorry if I missed it in your discussion, but will these also work with "wet" food, I give Brannigan a mix of dry and wet a couple of times a day and he wolfs it down, so a puzzle bowl might slow him down a little. Also are all these dishwasher safe?
Hey Dave! Yes these bowls are perfect for wet or raw food as well. My dogs get a partial raw component to most of their meals which is why I like to use these. I’d definitely give them a try!
You mentioned that Fen is picky. What do you do for him to get him to eat or to handle the pickiness? I have two doxies that are super picky and finicky and two bullies that have no problem. It's frustrating. The pet store people tell me i'm coddling them and to just take away the food and try again the next day. I looked to see if you have a video on this already but didn't see one.
Yes, Fen is such a picky eater with meals! Honestly, it depends on the dog, which is why I haven't made a video on it. For Fen, I think I went through 5 different kibbles before I decided to try something other than kibble for him. He has had a set feeding schedule since he was young, which works well, and I do advise that, as opposed to leaving our dogs food out all day, so long as it is safe to do so with your dog. But he was actively choosing not to eat, and losing weight because of it. I tried Sundays Food for Dogs and he loves it. It's an air dried dog food, not a kibble. He still isn't the most excited dog about eating, but he eats much more consistently now. Not knowing your dog, I'm not saying what I did will work, but it might be worth exploring some other options if your budget allows for it!
