    This looks like every other mosquito trap that I have used. It catches more of the non-offending bugs than the offenders!

      I was just going to say... Not really a "mosquito" trap, but just another bug trap...

      yes, thats right, I put a black cover on the violet LEDs and this way it was more effective to eleminate mosquitoes, and other insects not catches, it seems the violet light is no need there .

    I think I could see maybe 1 mosquito in each of the two dumps. You had ability to sort through them so perhaps they were all on a lower layer, but my first impression is that the device is almost completely ineffective.

    Mosquito Bits, it is larvicide someone suggested just using it in a pail of water dump larvicide in the pail, it will kill the mosquito larvae set the pails in the bushes in the shade. The four corners of property

    Always enjoy the informative, organized, and, no nonsense videos on your channel. Thanks so much! Looking forward to the next model (hopefully) of this device aimed at eliminating north Texas flies! 😀👍🏻

    If we lost a few species of frogs, birds, and maybe even a few mammals by getting rid of mosquitos completely, that's collateral damage I can live with.

    Would have been nice to see actual mosquitos in that pile of bugs. There were so many large flying insects that it was impossible to distinguish the efficacy on the actual target insect.

      Maybe sometime this season we can sift through the carcasses to show that, but it doesn't sound like much fun.

    looked like way more moths than mosquitoes

    It honestly looks like that device is only great at killing moths and beetles. I couldn't discern a single mosquito in either of those bug dumps.

      Right? I thought the Coyote's in the neighborhood might be of help, but so far no luck.

    I’m in South Carolina, I’ve never seen a mosquito. And I camp every weekend. Minnesota was a different story.

      Congrats! Mosquitos grow very well around here apparently. Hard to enjoy a campfire without tons of bug spray before we found this.

    1 mosquito per 50 moths is not a good thing.

    Good video, should this be left running 24/7?

    • @TheBarbecueLab
      @TheBarbecueLab  Před 2 lety +2

      Yes, once you plug it in for the season, it should stay on until mosquito season is over. You don't have to unplug it to change out the lure, so once you have it set at the beginning of the season, it'll just stay plugged in and powered on.

    Did you notice a decrease in mosquito's after this and do you still use it?

    • @TheBarbecueLab
      @TheBarbecueLab  Před 2 lety +4

      Yes, we did notice a decrease in mosquitos this past season, and we've had it out with new bait in it every 30 days for the past 6 weeks. I haven't gotten a mosquito bite yet, and we're spending a ton of time outdoors shooting new content. I'm quite happy with the performance this year so far.

    Looks like it should be renamed as a Moth Trap.
    Bulk of insects killed are not mosquitoes, not offensive.
    Simply a sales pitch. Nothing different from any other insect trap.
    How biodegradable are the lures when being replaced?
