Blaming the pandemic for their wants to live rent free is something democrats shouldnt of wasted everyone's time with in the first place.
Trump started it get your facts right.
they can't make the bank stop collecting mortgage, but let's decide to force landlords to stop collecting rent. genius idea
Wake up People!!!!!!!!!! There are no jobs!!! They all went away that's why you see one or two employees working a restaurant or store. I am a worker. I have been working since age 15 and paying rent since 1985!!!!! I haven't been able to pay rent for 6 months and refuse to pitch a tent or sleep in a car I don't have!!!! So shut the F up! WE, US Tenants (who are forced to rent and are not inheritance babies) want to pay but how can we? Wake up and smell the coffee because you are next!!!!! I have been working and paying rent since age 21. I am Mexican-American (with a BA indoc education) and have always worked and supported myself. I have never asked for FREE Shit or Rent so shut the F up. You don't know what you are talking about. !!!!!!!!!!! How dare you talk shit about "US WORKERS"!!!!! Last year in 2022 I work 4 part time retail/restraunt jobs to pay my rent. I tried that this year and . . . .NO CAN DO!!! NO MORE JOBS, LIKE I SAID . . . YOU ARE NEXT.
I had retired tenants ride on the moratorium bandwagon. They don't work, they're retired so no income loss but they got to live for free.
@@eckankar7756 My father had two healthcare workers who rented a room in his home (where he lives) and they didn't pay him for two years. He was in Solano County, thankfully not Oakland. They worked the whole time and made more money than before the pandemic.
@@mwatercress It's awful that the government has chosen to make private home owners pay for sheltering the homeless or those that pretend they can't afford housing.
@@eckankar7756 I wouldn't mind helping through my taxes. But the idea that all landlords are rich and renters are poor just isn't true. So many communities in the state are trying to get homeowners to add an ADU to their property to help deal with the housing shortage. Who in their right mind would invest their hard-earned savings to build an ADU in their backyard so a city council could grant tenants a life estate in your backyard? Mutual funds or REITs are so much easier. They have probably punished most landlords more than most fentanyl dealers
imagine being a landlord in Oakland in the first place
LOL. Doesn't sound like a plausible way to make money.
SF and Oakland has liberal mayors in a liberal state, in a liberal district court. What can possibly go wrong? Remember what happened to Detroit? Home prices went down to $30K in many areas. They just finally started to rebuild, but all those landlords lost the rear ends.
Depends which part of Oakland... also the normal tenants continued paying throughout this entire plandemic. Its the foolish ones that will have to suffer now because they'll need to find another place and it'll end up being more expensive or smaller.
@@Alex-sm1mbOnce you have an eviction on your record = good luck finding someone who’ll rent to you 😂
@tikimandude112 I was once, and NEVER! Again. Yes lost money by selling, but gained my sanity of leaving Oakland LL business. Getting a criminal/drug addict out of a unit is a challenge enough, but on top of it, the city came after me for this tenant crazy behavior in the neighborhood. It’s not even funny on how crooked and immoral, besides being corrupt this city is.
Great news for struggling mom and pop landlords who had the city steal their property. There was no moratorium on prop taxes, insurance etc. Add to that eviction fees and the cost of disinfecting and rehabilitating the unit.
EXACTLY! Stealing is exactly what happened to this poor woman. She has to pay taxes, yet she is NOT being represented. Taxation without representation. - Boston Tea Party
If you had to do repairs, there were no price controls on plumbers, roofers, or electricians.
The eviction moratorium should have been matched with either the city paying the back rent or freezing mortgage, interest, and property taxes for the affected buildings as well so the building owners would not have had to bear that burden.
City only cares about addicts, homeless or criminals. They don’t care about law bidding citizens who pay taxes and vote.
Good. Pay what you owe.

Hey Landlords, let’s not forget to notify the 3 credit bureaus about non payment…that way they can’t stiff the next landlords or be able to buy a house…
This should be a pinned comment!! Great advice.
I can't imagine another landlord knowingly letting one of these tenants move into their house in the future. I think Oakland is going to have a hard time convincing investors to build new rental housing. "Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me"

I think you and other landlords should put together a listing of freeloaders so that you can identify people when they move out and try to get another place to live in Oakland. Protecting yourself from these freeloaders is justified.
@@kalima3683 I'm not a landlord. The return is too low for the risk and work. involved. I think some of these things would show up on a background check. And rental applications may have extra space for and questions about rental history 3-2020 -7-2023.
@@mwatercress I don’t doubt what you are saying but the problem is that the rental application can be easily filled out by liars. So what if some are caught in the vetting process, if at the same time some bad tenant gets in. They made it too easy for freeloaders to just move out before eviction and then they turn around and find another apartment and end up defrauding the next property owners.
@@kalima3683 I like your idea. I would worry that it could create legal liability in California. Honestly, California has become so hostile to landlords, I would look into condo conversion.
No more legal freeloading
That should apply to Congress also.
@@jntj3007 That should apply to that Potatohead in the White House who has been free loading off the AMERICAN WORKING TAXPAYERS for 50 years so far.
Oh My God, we have to actually pay the rent?
not necessary anymore if your city is progressive enough. Isn't that wonderful?
I'm not even a landlord, and I feel sorry for them.
Landlords are required to pay for mortgage, insurance, and property taxes. At the same time they are also required to provide free housing. Karl Marx would be extremely proud of you, Oakland.
wow what has it been 2 years since the quarantine ended? East bay has destroyed small businesses.
Government gave tenants free rent at the expense of the landlord and at the same time they collect property taxes in full.
Too damn late for the bankrupt property owners.
my friend was disabled forced to
sell her house when the people that lived there didnt pay. my neighbor also is selling her moms home. it was trashed and the people
did not pay her the entire pandemic. the construction person said it was dirty messy and he had to clean dog poop all over the yard.
The landlord is assumed to be, rich, evil, lazy, and parasitic. The tenant is assumed to be downtrodden, hard-working, and a valued member of the community. The decision-makers never want to let facts influence their decisions if the facts challenge their worldview.
Wow the moratorium just now ended...That's insane!!!
2 years over due for freeloaders. First time in history landlords were required to provide free housing. We didn't see a moritorium on property taxes, insurance or mortgages did we.
Oh yeah , what about a pause in taxes and fees?
No way huh? Funny how that works
@@violent_bebop9687when were there pauses on taxes? If so how does that equate to the cost of a mortgage?
You mean THEIR paychecks? Pure coincidence. California's biggest jobs program.
Finally!!!

More often than not landlorda dont own the property the bank does if if someone dosent pay they both lose the property
Hope that happens. Its like gut punch to the woke. Getting own by capitalism 😂
These landlords should have sued a long time ago. Supreme Court already ruled this crap unconstitutional.
You deserve what you put up with.
And for anyone in Property Management be sure to double check people's rental history and Rental references because those scumbags are now looking for a place to live
This is why there is a shortage of rental properties. I can't collect rent but still have to pay the mortgage and I'm the bad guy.
Being a landlord is like playing Russian roulette,
The CITY and City Councils Must BACK PAY for ALL Rentals due to landlord. Let's use the reparations amount toward this payment.
Yeah where are the landlords reparations
This is total injustice and discrimination towards landlords and investors as leaches abuse this yet the city and bank cash their payments as if nothing happened… what does Oakland call this ? Equality ? Fairness?
ABOUT TIME!!!
more than 3 years later... unbelievable.
Cant believe people been living in housing for free these past few years while I’ve mostly been living out of my car… crazy…
Expect more homeless when the non-paying renters get evicted.
Well, then the non paying 'renters' will get what they deserve. Boohoohoo.
Long overdue.
What? I got to pay rent!!?? WTF?
What’s the matter with these people? They never should have cancelled this moratorium. It saves lives and protects people from the virus.
Anyone who owns rental property in the Democrat utopia must be insane
Insanely rich! These rents are like a grand a month for a bedroom and if you don’t pay they get so nasty and hostile that you won’t want to stay anymore.
@@tybarker5038 Much cheaper than buying. Building "affordable" housing units in California costs $450,000-$990,000 per unit when built by nonprofit developer landlords. Calculate the mortgage payment on that.
Did the government stop collecting property tax to help the landlord/renters?
You get who you Vote for!!!
Ridiculous how long this was in place
No more free rides or you will be outside of a store holding a sign "will work for food."
Kick them out asap byby

Bout time those freeloaders get the hail out anybody who didn't pay me rent for 3 years would for sure be getting evicted
must be sad taking pride not paying rent.
It's like we've reattached the umbilical cord to tenants.
Did they
oh lawd dat eviction moratorium
I feel bad for this lady landlord, but she likely voted for a liberal mayor. The leaders you vote for is the leaders you deserve. - Thomas Jefferson
Why aren’t there any conservative mayors in big cities? Oh, because all the conservative people live in rural, backwoods, swampy areas areas far away from most people because they dislike people so much.
Not sure where I went wrong but there was no moratorium for me. Worked through the pandemic, going to people's home, wearing a mask and just hoping I didn't catch COVID. Did get a so-called stimulus ck, but it was spent before we got it.
the government should have provided housing
The government is the people, which are the people who pay their taxes and live by the rules. Freeloading is not only dishonest but a form of theft hiding behind some political ruling.
NOT TOO BRIGHT, ARE YOU??????
It only took 3yrs. I hope all landlords increase their rents there to make up for the governments stupidity.
Biggest scam 💯👀🤣😭
The Evictees will move to Union Square and the rest will be Squatters
Its about fn time
I'd burn the place down and collect the insurance money. It's more money than the actual value of the property at this point.
Oakland should consider buying Ashford Hospitality Trust's properties in the Eastbay that have been turned over to the creditors. They will have a huge number of "clients" needing housing who no property manager in their right mind would let physically tour a rental let alone move in. “When people show you who they are, believe them the first time.” Dr. Maya Angelou
A lot of areas lifted it a long ago. Also why sooo many Mom and Pop landlords sold to corporations that DO have the money behind them, lawyers on retainer to deal with non paying tenants. Good, now landlords will make bee lines to file for evictions as they should. Just wait until more and more tenants have to deal with corporations, They will wish they treated their Mom and Pop landlords better

No more freeloaders
More unhoused on the sidewalk, the jig is up
They had years to prepare

the longest honey moon will be over. pay your rent or get a tent.
Should have happened long ago

Too bad you spent your covid checks on weed and playstations.
Sry piece of shh alameda county officials let this go on for so long! Land lords have been letting people stay in their homes and apartments for free this whole time. Now they have rent increase limitations and landlords cant even adjust for inflation.
Wellllllllllllllllllllll
Where can I sign up ? I want to leave in a nice luxurious house for rent then make the landlord sell it to me for cheap.
May I have your attention please!!!

To my fellow Americans, do you have my full support? Regarding this message???
I would like to hear your thoughts ?????
Don't wait for an eviction on your record. Try to settle with landlord and just leave. Hopefully new renters can move in asap to reduce the shortage of housing. A long court process will just continue to bottleneck supply.
Do you think these people give a shit about bottlenecking supply for others? There’s going to be an influx of those who choose to squat and with CA laws, can probably milk another 90 days at their properties rent free. On day 89 they will punch holes in your drywall, flood the flooring, and inflict as much structural damage as possible. Speaking from experience of renting low income housing. NEVER AGAIN
@@Stin88 Criminals do not care and ruin the whole neighborhood. I just want people to know that prices go up when people take advantage and squat.
Now more us citizens will be miss place while immigrants take there homes
How's the weather in Russia... 😅
In other countries they realized the people couldn’t pay and then in effect that the landlords couldn’t pay.. so the banks and lending institutions settled things rather than pitting people against people. Also, down here is seaside and Salinas we have had multiple events where long guns are used against officers trying to implement these evictions. Good luck!
Then the freeloaders will go to jail because hopefully the police will arrest them and haul their ass to jail and hopefully the government won't let him write back out
Another good reason to never live in a democrat chit hole!😅😅😅😅😅
Landlords passive income is someone’s active income
so?
Time for the wealthy to shine! 💪😎✌️
The only way to guarantee rent payments is rent to people and families on Section 8 Hud recipients.
Contrary to popular belief, these renters are so appreciative to have housing, they follow the rules for fear of being homeless.
Smart investors and landlords already know this fact.
Oakland makes section 8 super risky
@ezradib if I were a landlord, Section 8 tenants are the only people I would rent to.
It's guaranteed, and the payments are always on time.
LOL 😂, aren't the projects section 8??? And if these so called people appreciate housing, how come the projects everywhere look like a dump? Please don't blame the landlords if the people are just lazy slobs.
they had a 3.5 year free ride!
Landlord's have no mercy on the tenants that screw you over. OUT
