This man may not have been treated right by the political class of India, but is a man who lives in the heart of the people of India.
I have become a fan of this man. Very thought provocative, humorous and does not mince his words. Never shy away from calling a spade a spade.

Salman is one of the rarest , who believe and act accordingly as well , that criticism begins from oneself and it must be started from the act of finding faults in us first and then the neighbours expanding to rest of the world. He follows Kabir the great in this matter. This is how you can make your world better in many ways. God bless us all !...

To me Salman Rushdie, Aubrey Menen, Paul Courtright or Jaime Laine, Charlie Hebdo, Suzanna Arundhati Roy and D N Jha are some examples who exemplify courage. It requires a whole lot of bravery to put one's life and that of their family's second to what needs to be said. If people enjoy them, great but if they don't, then it should also be fine too. Literature is ethereal and should be rightly treated so.
Salman Rushdie is a class act although too preaachy . You addes the others because you wanted tohave a balance , but you missed out because Arundhati Roy lacks any logic, Lane and Cartright and lane want some fame with nothing to offer.

1) Archeologists never found ‘temple’ underneath it. Firstly, pro-RSS has clearly rejected the idea of using latest technology to map out the part f the earth. “Your science can’t prove faith”. They said.
2) They committee was headed by a Hindu Sympathiser
3) There isn’t a single mention of ‘temple’ in their report. They found some remains but it wasn’t a conclusive evidence in favour of existence of a temple underneath the structure.

Salman Rushdie is an excellent story teller in the genre of fiction that should be read if at all for fun. His childish writings packed in snazzy English lack intellectual depth as his hackneyed plots revolve around the bizarre, provocative and trite. One can't enrich one's character or increase ones deep understanding of life, being and nature reading his books.
As for the book Satanic Verses, it appears that a powerful hidden hand with vested interest was the push or reason Rushdie wrote it out of compulsion or greed knowing fully well it'd incite Islamic orthodoxy that's 90% of the ummah. Introducing a polytheistic theme of the 3 goddesses aside from Allah and of a prophet tricked by a jinn into making polytheism mainstream and then realising his error is fraught with danger because Islamic commentators would see it as an affront to their deity's infallibility and by logical conclusion faulty guidance to his prophet. Stay away from danger. One can mock other religions and get away but when it comes to Islam it's an altogether different game - loaded with danger of setting of riots and being lynched.
There is a big question about the people in the India Today Conclave 2010 is who are they, why are they there, looking like out of place, I rather would be somewhere else kind of expression on there looks 😮

I believe that when someone insults our Nabi (SAW) it is nothing but a test from Allah'tala.
Allah is testing us to ensure we maintain our composure, our restraint, our patience, our tolerance against those who degrade the image of our beloved Prophet (SAW).
Whenever we detect an insult, we should approach those who have no respect for our Nabi (SAW) and embrace them closely and warmly with compassion and humility.
We must do this to show how amazing Islam is - in that we persevere in the face of hate and criticism. We must love and respect those who hate our Prophet. These are the teachings. This is the Way.
When these evil people see what Muslims are, and what Islam teaches they will immediately abandon their own belief and accept Islam.
Our beautiful deen will grow faster than ever before. Alhmadulliah.
