Charlie's fear of rabid raccoons is backwards, raccoons are nocturnal so if you see them at night it's normal, but if you see them during the day, there's a good chance they're rabid
Actually this isn't true!! It's normal to see them during the day. They still go out to forage and other things! 😊
You can also see them in the day when they get themselves locked in the dumpster at your work and you have to find a stick they can use to get out.

They also get distemper. And it is absolutely NOT normal to see them during the day. They are nocturnal. Not crepuscular, but fully nocturnal. If you see a raccoon during the day, it’s either sick or it’s been stuck in a garbage bin. ✌🏼

Just an FYI Charlie is actually a well known cryptid in Michigan around where I live. Apparently the local lore is that he snapped Dogman’s neck and has been living in his burrows ever since.

The Jackson-Wendigooner dynamic is so good. Jackson submissively offers the hole to his overlords, and Wendi always delivers a heavy load of stars and stripes right on target; unconsciously knowing that he needs to let the non-americans know their place. Charlie just sits there like a normal grounded man. Disgusting.

Spaniard here, concerning the king of Spain, Joseph Bonaparte was well known as a party beast and definetively as an alcoholic, so I'd say that he didn't see the devil in the woods, but a horse or something and because he was drunk he imagined it's devil like aspect.

Or maybe he ran into a wayward sandhill crane. They're HUGE and they're pretty terrifying, they stand exactly the way those old woodcut depictions show, and I know from personal experience they've put the fear of God into religious Christians. Bestie of mine whose since passed grew up in Florida and years ago when we lived together she told me about encountering some cranes. We were both religious at the time, but I was an animal nerd and she wasn't, and she recounted in horrified fearful tones the time she once encountered two "shapeshifter witches" performing a circle ritual out in the sticks, and how the deep evil terrified both her and her dog and spooked the dog so bad it growled and barked, and I looked and her was like "Janay, that's just what cranes do to pick a mate, you saw sandhill cranes perform a mating dance" and she was like "oh". The cranes don't migrate through Jersey, but sometimes one of the birds flies off course and that might've been what people saw, this bigass bird that honks really loud.

Rabies, let me clue you in. I don't care what animal it is, if it is rabid, you WILL run from it.
Years ago, while working as an oil truck driver, I was last back to the shop. Last back closes the bulk plant (large tanks inside a concrete enclosure). While in there, I keep hearing a loud, angry screech. I look out into the yard and there's a groundhog. The yard pigeons are doing their thing and every time one landed, the groundhog would rush at it, it flies away, the groundhog stops and screeches, repeat. So I finish closing up, check the yard, don't see the groundhog and leave the enclosure.
A car pulls up and the driver asks if I can fill his propane tank. Sure, I reach for my keys only to realize I left them on the truck bumper. Walk over, grab the keys, turn and begin walking back when I hear a skittering behind me. I don't look back, I KNOW what it is. I run.
Two steps up the loading platform, I hear the screech and know the groundhog has stopped so I stop on the steps and look back to see this horrific looking animal that probably weighs all of 4 lbs, is mangy and it's eyes are bulging and literally bloody. And I'm effectively treed by it, lol. The guy with the propane tank is grinning and trying not to laugh and I ask him "is this normal behavior to you?" He says "No, they're usually....."
And the thing hears him and rushes at him! He jumps into his car and now we're both laughing.
It eventually left the yard but only after chasing a secretary back into the office and attempting to chew it's way through the wooden screen door.
So laugh, because it's funny but if you think you'd have reacted differently, I'll call you a liar.

I think that's fair, the risk of getting infected by a bite is no joke. Especially since there's no good treatment and you're basically dead once you get it.

As a kid who grew up in jersey and spent most of his childhood life camping with the scouts, everyone had stories about the Jersey Devil. And I'm fucking stoked for this.

I wrote an academic paper on the effects of religion on the development of cryptids like the jersey devil, then did a radio show episode about the topic. I love this episode, so glad to see the Leeds drama mentioned.

The Jersey Devil is also my favorite cryptid. It’s just so weird and unique and its history is so fascinating. I remember a long time ago, when I was a kid I was driving to my grandparents’ house by the coast in New Jersey from the airport in Philly and we were passing by some dense forests with a lot of very thin trees.
At one point we passed by a very small clearing with a small pond. I thought for sure I was hallucinating but I saw a small horse with black bat-like wings and a weird whip-like tail taking a drink from the pond.
I was tired, half asleep, and it was cloudy and late afternoon so I VERY well was most likely imagining it, but I didn’t even know the legend of the Jersey Devil at the time. I told my dad I saw something weird and he said it was probably a deer. Then little kid me went to sleep for the rest of the drive.
When I finally learned about the legend and the description of the Jersey Devil, I was absolutely floored. It sounded way too close to what I’d seen. Apart from the fact the legend depicts a goat head and (as Jackson said) kangaroo-like body instead of quadrupedal, the wings and tail were far too similar to what I’d seen for me to think it was just a coincidence.
I’ve believed for a long time now that if what I saw was true, then the Jersey Devil is one cryptid that 100% exists. Of course, it could’ve just been a sleep deprived kid jumping at shadows, but I’m a skeptic myself and even I can’t shake the feeling of how real it felt.

Jersey native here, I’ve seen some shit in that state forest, I grew up on the edge of it and used to hang out in there with my friends and ride quads. I’ve always felt like I was being watched in there, hearing weird sounds, you go deep enough and it’s so easy to get lost. Will never go back in those woods again unless it’s the middle of the day, even then it’s a very weird feeling.

Sure. Believe what you will, everyone has different experiences out there. Like I said grew up by the edge of the woods (not too far from the Atco raceway). My whole life me, my friends, my family would go in those woods and ride quads, bikes, build forts, ect. And for as long as I can remember those woods always felt weird. There’s a dirt road by where I lived that would go for awhile, the one time we got a brand new battery for our quad, me and my dad took it out and the battery just died out of no where, he left me there while he walked back to go get his truck and when I mean those woods went silent. It was dead silent, I felt like I was being watched, no birds, just silence. It was in the middle of the day and I was around 12-13 so I didn’t think too much of it other than it being weird. I got alittle old and I would have to travel through the woods to go hang out with my friends, I would stay out late so by the time I was heading back the sun was almost set and I was riding my bike through the multiple different paths that people have made along the years and again… completely silent, I stopped my bike cause I thought it was weird and I turn around and not too far in the distance was this weird big shadow.. I didn’t stay long enough to analyze it, I just dipped and swore I would never go in those woods unless it was in the middle of the day. Later down the line again, I’m around the age of like 17-18 now. I was riding my bike though the woods during the day and I’m riding down the path and it leads to this junk yard I think and there’s another path leading to the other side of the yard. I look down at the end of the yard and there this shadow again, not big but not small, almost human sized and it had yellow eyes. Again I got out of the woods as fast as I could. Ever since then I’ll never go in those woods alone, especially at night. I warn my friends that didn’t grow up around there to never go there alone. It’s too easy to get lost if you don’t know where you’re going and even then it can be easy to get lost. I grew up going to Batsto and being all around that area. There is definitely something off about that state forest.
But again that’s just my story and experience, my uncle and step mother grew up by those woods too and they always say that those woods were always creepy.
I've been throughout the NJ pine barrens. One of the only things I like about new jersey. I absolutely understand how people could scare themselves into believing a passing deer unmovig and watching them behind brush was some sort of cryptic. The barrens look all the same, all the time. Something that isn't talked about is that the underbrush is up to your knees/thighs everywhere, and there are huge, dense, lines or thickets of bushes that animals tend to use for cover. Its the closest you can get to the backrooms in that part of the country. But, personally, all the time I spent there, I only ever spooked myself, never saw anything.
You can tell Isaiah was feeling those pain killers 😂😂😂
